Omg no no no the 400s lol baby beginner controller.. All about the 800 or the 1000s.. Cdj and djm dna from club to affordable controller with some many features identical to cdj set up.. Yes a few features require holding shift and may feel on cheap side to cdj but your talking £1200 compaired to a £7, 000 set up.. The 1000s are best ever.. Dvs ready.. Stand alone mixer colour and beat fx.. Full size jogs, rekordbox software is absolutely amazing

They don’t mate I believe that’s only features on the 2000 nexus 2 and the xdj xz

@@mysterydpt4663 yes, a massive difference, although after saying all that in my last message I now have a standalone system and being free of the laptop is great I admit. I still have my 400 for travelling. This doesn’t detract from the 1000 though, it’s an immense controller 👌

@@ajpepe72 which standalone unit do you have now . I’m stuck between getting the ddj 1000 and the xdj rr as it’s a stand alone unit but the 1000 seems to have a bit more features . If I get the 400 will I just want to upgrade a couple months down the line ?

Kev Jaff You can use an external usb in Rekordbox, you just have to select it to play the music. To record the mix, you can simply do it in Rekordbox with the integrated recording tool

Hey! I'm looking for a controller which mimics the layout of CDJs. I can mix fine but I haven't had much experience on CDJs and want them to feel as familiar as possible, would you say the RX is a better fit for what I want? Thanks 😊

I agree with not being swayed by companies selling the latest and greatest. But if your fellow DJs are not using it, but it works for you and has all the features you want/need, then by all means, use it. Don't let what other DJs may or may not be using, sway you in either direction, either. Do what's best for YOU.

Hingle McCringleberry That’s because all these “keep it real DJs” complain that your not a real DJ if you use a laptop. Not everyone wants to use USBs nor does every DJ play at clubs and festivals. I never understood all the hate for laptops and never will.

Whats worse is, apparently you’re not a real dj unless you carry around crates of vinyl & a pair of vintage record players. Imo, they just hatin because it takes a complete noob on a controller 2 days to do a heap more than the old boys could in 2 decades 😂 ‘Real’ dj’s evolve & embrace technology, the rest end up playing for the 6 locals watching footy at the pub

Iceman _24 It’s always seemed to me that a laptop is endlessly capable. If there is a computer up there, djing could be as simple or as complex as you want it to be. People see a laptop on a stage and wonder why there is even a guy standing up there, he could just press play on a prerecorded mix and go have a smoke, grab a drink and join the party. When someone is up there with no computer, people look at him like “damn, hows he doing that, dude has a skill that I don’t understand” similar to playing an instrument. Then you have musicians who look at anyone with technology and think they aren’t making music a machine is.

kinda glad that people like Chris Liebing & Richie Hawtin showed that setups with laptops can be pretty good without making it just easier

You cant go wrong with either unit. The sc5000 has big platters the sc5000 platters are motorized, some people like that. prime 4 has 6 inch platters some people may not like that. I was going to get the sc5000 setup until the prime 4 was introduced, now i think i will be getting the prime 4. For one it is cheaper and i don't need the bigger platters. I suggest you go to guitar center if there is one near you and take a flash drive with music and play on them. No one will have the prime 4 until late march. I will be going to play on the prime 4 at guitar center when they get it before i make my purchase. I will be using my laptop, even if i don't have to. Thats just my preference.

Sure you could, Just produce a few hundred remixes and a few dozen original tracks that hit the mainstream radio stations and everyone will go crazy just knowing its you behind the booth. I'm being slightly sarcastic but honest, Fatboy slim is an amazing DJ but the reactions of the crowd is 90% due to his name more than what he is doing on the decks.

At this time I no longer consider the Prime 4, I'll wait till it's in use by others a few months and here is why. I bought the Sc5000 and X1800 mixer Prime system, within 3 hours the mixer completely locked up and was totally unresponsive. Faders, effects, volume was all locked up. I cant trust it so I sent it back. The Prime 4 will have to prove itself before I lean towards Denon again. Prime Engine is a mess and support wasnt great either. Time will tell

The Traktor S4 Mk3 is a nice machine. Just look at some of the reviews. I personally think the DDJ 1000, although around £350 more, gives you more in terms of value (probably achievable due to utilization of existing technology from their 'high-end' gear). I would base my decision on what software you are more comfortable with. If you have no experience with Traktor and/or want to work professionally using club equipment I would pay the extra money for the DDJ 1000 that has Rekordbox (also available with Serato for a further £300), similar features and controls as the gear in the clubs. This is a personal view. I would highly recommend finding a DJ Store and trying these and other controllers (and their software) first to see what suits you.

I just upgraded to the DDJ1000 from the S2 mk2. I was super excited for the S4 mk3 but decided to go with pioneer and am so happy I did. If you're just starting out and dont want a huge financial commitment but still want a lot of room to grow go with the new S3. The reason I chose the DDJ1000 over staying with traktor was to learn rekordbox and pioneer gear. I was finding myself in situations where not being comfortable on CDJs was becoming a problem as I got more and more gigs.

Totally agree. I moved from S8 for similar reasons, as I wanted to use jog wheels. The DDJ 1000 is excellent - gives a lot of the features of the high-end units for a really good price!

DDJ 1000 uses Rekordbox and you can mix videos and even you can use your light setup

okay. it depends on you. SX (1,2&3) is a Serato controller and it is great. DDJ1000 is a rekordbox controller (also has the ddj1000 srt for serato) and it is quite more expensive. If you are starting I would recomend you the ddj800, the SR2 or RR controllers. If you are not new in this and you just want a good piece of equipment I would go for the ddj1000. I have the ddj SX (1) and it is a great controller, but it doesnt have the stand alone Fx nor the dual USB ports for the laptop(s). That is my selling point. it is a very difficult thing to say which is better. Some times i find a ddj Ergo to be better than my ddj sx because of space and portability and some times I will go all day with the sx because I will use much more features and precition (and looks). So the thing is what you want it for? to practice at home and gig at clubs you should be thinking of a ddj1000, ddj800 or an xdj rx2. To gig at restaurants, coffee shops and things of that nature you should be looking at the ddj800, 400, sr2, rr, sb3, rb or similar smaller controllers. to be a big mobile DJ or a Wedding Dj you should be looking at the 1000, sx, sz, 800 or xdj rx2 if not the nxs2 booth. Define your posibilities, your needs, your abilities to use the gear, the gear you are allready familiar with and all of that stuff and you will end up with the right choice. I need 3 controllers for the Dj's that play at the weddings I do and the best option I have 4 them is the XDJ RX2. 4 me the best is the ddj1000 because I can plug 2 laptops and I usually make back2back sets, Dj changes and things of that nature when I am at the gig. 4 the bars and restaurants the ideal is to have a ddj400 or so in orther yo make it portable but still use the laptop to work the videos. and I know some guys that prefer to have an sz in front because of the size and looks of that monster. So you pick it up. just remember that it needs to serve a purpose appart of being a new toy thats costs a lot of money. But I like the 800 and 1000 controllers better than the old serato ones.

The size is also the reason that I’m planning to sell my rx2 for a ddj1000

I think jogwheels are only 'addendums'..if we want that 'managing music feel' we've to go on vinyl: real or DVS, 12" or 7"..doesn't matter but vinyl..I use XDJ-RX2 just by buttons, jogwheel for a quick/sudden search..otherwise I prepare tracks with memory/hot cue points..the only jogwheels could I like are Denon SC5000M..

@@djbobrokk723 I know what you mean, I use vinyle but tbh the jogs on the ddj1000 just feel nice and are really accurate.

DDJ 1000 jogs is what sold me I come from tables and crates of records I don't mind using a laptop at all get my lot more options and I own a XDJ r1 standalone unit the USB options are nice but I still always brought my laptop so why not use it.

3 days to analise the library 😏 My macbook pro retina took les than a night to analise all of my files.I might have 30.000 or more songs on my laptop I guess.

it is normal to have some bugs but no one can´t deny that the prime 4 is everything and more than most of us djs have been asking for ,and to me it is all that matters and we all know that Denon always had quality products @@ZETONEproductions

i will not wait for pioneer to step up the game ,they have been putting stuff in the market that we werent asking for ,we all wanted a stand alone controller unit with 4 channels and they just didn´t do nothing they put out that xdj-r2 and the other streepdown version of the xdj-r and i didn´t like any of the two ,when i had the first xdj-rx 1 i was excited at the time just like i am excited for the Prime 4 right now@@ZETONEproductions
