Sorry everyone I forgot to mention one of the most awesome features about this controller that it also functions as a dedicated mixer. You can have it powered on without connecting it to your computer and run other devices into the rca channels on the rear of the controller! This is another major selling point of why this controller is so awesome 👏🏼
Well, the very first Traktor control s4 could do that. That’s nothing special. If it could play without a laptop by usb just like a cdj, they would have me, but not like this
Yeah it won't sound good, it'll sound perfect. Beat matching is not hard. Besides most people mix the same genre, so the bpms are usually really close. So who cares if you nudge it .34 . You need to worry more about phrasing.
Got that pretty baby for one year now, but lucking time in my 30ish. I am in love big time with Da Toy, because of "that CDJ Professional level setup features" upon my fingers for 1300$ is damn exciting. Jog wheel is a blast for real, but... I also have Native Instruments Z2 (thats mixer only for 450$). And I'd say NI Z2 sounds WAY more deeper, clearer, crispier and more "fat" a lot as well as it still sounds strong on high levels of output sounds without distortion. Trust me as I am audio freak, that did built 6 sectioned Skyline Acoustic Difuser for my studio outta hardwood. Took only 300+ labor hours:) Indeed those products DDJ and Z2 shouldnt be compared side by side as they are diferrent beasts and honestly love them both but outta controllers that DDJ 1000 - is a winner. My 2 Cents. P.S. Its all about house music and always have been
Andrii Ostapchuk it’s always about the House music 😏 it’s weird I’ve noticed the S4 MK3 sound better live than the 1000 🤷🏻♂️ it produces a richer sound IMO. I actually use both the 1000 for when I do weddings or local shows. When I want to mix edm only like house I use the S4 🥳
I learned on vinyl and by default everything else i've played on has been easier. Unless you already have/plan on buying lots of wax it's not necessary though. Controllers and CDJs are awesome
Had mine 2 weeks upgraded from an sb3. I love it. I wish there was more options to customize the jogs screen ie hide the bpm, option to zoom into the waveform more, and see the other decks beatgrid like on a cdj, but aside that I would say this controller offers much more options than a 2000nexus2 and feels the same
Great video demo. I own the 1000 I upgraded from the DDJ Rx There are some functions that I miss from the rx that are not on the 1000. But the large jog wheels and jog wheel display are my favorite features!
This isn’t technically a replacement for the RX as the mixer is completely different. I feel like pioneer will release the DDJ-600 next year which will be a replacement for the DDJ-RR which I used to own.
only thing i dont like on the ddj1000 is that shiny surface material on the mixer. it scratches very easily! specially on the crossfader area, mine is already filled with scratches and swirl marks. other than that there is no controller out there today that i will replace this with. :)
DJ DLS you might invest in a skin. I know it’s extra money, and that Pioneer should have thought about it, however it may save visual wear on your unit .
I agree totally, this is one BEAST of a controller so much so you had precious little time to mention its DVS capability! I am looking to purchase one of these awesome machines but have seen prices jump from a little under $1000 to over $1500, sadly didn't have the 'chedda' at the time when at its cheapest but its well worth the wait 👍
@Melih k Their definitely takin' & rackin' it in through this lockdown. I'm considering buying a smaller $300 to $350 budget controller for now so I can continue to create new playlists for gigs, currently using free online software. Or should I like you just wait? ✌
SoCal Karaoke / DJ and average musician here. Very good review. I picked mine up at Guitar Center 2 weeks ago with 20% discount off. I felt it was a fair price since I was considering the DDJ 800. This controller is a beast of a controller and Rekordbox is a very friendly yet sophisticated DJ software. Still going thru the Rekordbox learning curve but Im totally excited about the DDJ 1000. Maybe the DDJ 800 next, hopefully with a price drop since the release of the DDJ SRT1000 for Serato today.
Using the DDJ 1000 Rekcordbox and the DM 40 studio monitors via RCA cable, the audio suddenly gets disconnected from both the speakers and the headphones every 20-30 minutes. What could cause this?
Hey Chase I am going to buy a Dj Controller I saw your video you have both Traktor & Pioneer ... Which one has better quality up faders and knobs and software stability..
Chris Connelly You need a computer running Recordbox DJ in order to use it. Unfortunately it is not a standalone controller. I would look at the XDJ if you want a standalone.
Im facing prblm of low volume output through external speakers also red light pops up in each song for both master and channel Im using ddj 800 with hp spectre x360 I have downloaded the latest version of rekordbox and Latest audio drivers for it I also have ddj 1000 srt n it sounds great I want to know that is it my controller prblm or laptop of its thr matter of software Plzz help me sir Im not using the youtube rips i play wav files from beatport And when i play 128 kbps mp3 on ddj 1000 srt it sound best then my wav files on rekordbox with ddj 800 Plz let me know👍🏻🙏
I just saw a video of this guy making a review on this controller pointing out all the negatives. He said the sound quality is bad, I hear some people using an audio interface to get better sound out of it. I just order the ddj 1000 recorbox version online and I am already thinking I might have to get an audio interface to improve the sound quality. Any feedback on how to improve the sound quality? Heres the link of the video review: @
If you are interested in another DJs opinion: The DDJ 1000 has many awesome features and lets you practise the current NXS/DJM clubstandard for a relatively low price. Biggest drawback that comes with this variety of functions is the STABILITY! Especially Rekordbox feels more like an unreleased beta version because it has so many bugs and hickups that interfere with a perfect set....having said this i dont regret buying the DDJ 1000 for 1000€ because its so much fun to play around with and yea...im still hoping Pioneer Developers and Coders will get their shit together and update Rekordbox in terms of stability rather than more functions.
@@LoganSkitzi the biggest improvement that other controllers or even CDJs dont have is the small screen inside the jogwheel. nothing essential, but pretty cool. the 3000 nxs also now have something similar.
@@LoganSkitzi depends on what you want from your controller. If youre a beginner and still have a budget I would recommend the DDJ400. If you are a pro and want to really make your life about DJing I recommend either a full CDJ setup or XDJ700s. This Controller is good for advanced amateurs and outdoor rave type of events where you dont want to use a full pro standalone setup. If I had to buy again I would probably go for the XDJ setup as it prepares you better for a club environment. But having said that, I havent regretted buying the DDJ 1000. Its a good controller.
No, this is a controller and needs to be connected to a computer for DJing That being said it can be used as just an audio mixer without computer connection
I have a question.do you need to buy pioneer rekordbox dvs interface to plug in ddj 1000 when you want to use turntable.thanks.i wait for you suggestion.
I've missed talking about switching decks 1/3 with the dedicated button on the deck. Does it happen immediately? Or does it take 1/2 seconds for the deck to load another deck? Also the connection possibilities are really interesting (you can connect 2 turntables, put timecode vinyl on then and you have full 4 channels 😅)
It’s also a dedicated mixer that doesn’t require you to be hooked up to a DJ controller which is awesome! I forgot to mention that. If you pressed the 1/3 button it will switch over decks instantly. Within Recordbox DJ it’s super responsive! This controller has a ton of functionality.
I am so disappointed with this controller. I've just bought it and I have the latest macbook Pro and I can not get the mac to send the audio to the controller for love or money. I've tried everything and I can not find a resolution anywhere online. I just hope pioneer get back to me with a resolution before I return the controller
You need to open a ticket with pioneer. I have the latest MacBook Pro with touch-bar and it works just fine. It’s probably something to do with having to update the firmware or something in preferences causing the issue.
@@chaseme I've obviously not done something right but not being able to rectify the mistake is simply impossible. Usually you can Google the issue and sort it out but everything I've read just doesn't work or isn't relevant. I've sent a message to pioneer but I'm not hopeful at all. I've been trying to sort it out for 3HRS!!!!! I did not expect this after spending so much money on the controller
1. Very good video. 2. The video recording quality is very good for indoors, but it would be good if you had the controller in parallel with the camera and not in an angle so we can see better. Question 1: The sampling rate according to the manual is only 44.1 kHz, with 32 bit DAs & 24 bit ADs. CRITICAL: How does it sound compared to the 2000 NSXs or the older 1000s players? Question 2: I don't like using crossfader. Is there an engage/disengage button that activates/deactivates the crossfader? Question 3: How do you grade the quality construction of the WHOLE unit: Fair, good, good enough, very good, excellent? Question 4: Is there enough power to drive the headphones and if the sound comes out clear? Question 5: What model is your camera that you use in this video? Thank you for your time and attention.
Yo what's up man just liked your video, have a quick question would these be good for practicing at home like the club standards? Or should I just buy them piece by piece?
imreallytired if it’s your first ever piece of dj equipment then buy something cheaper like a preowned ddj rb to see if you like it....if you are an experienced dj then this will give you an almost similar experience to club gear apart from you need a laptop. Rx2 is usb and doesn’t need a laptop as you can use usb. Hope this helps.
@@daryllloyd3510 yeah I mainly started with Vinyl and moved to the s4 but the club set up is mostly cdjs and a nexus mixer and the whole process of organizing your music in rekordbox can be a burden I just want to learn the mixer fx so I can keep my mixes interesting
@@daryllloyd3510 I actually have it, been having it for a week now and honestly it's not that bad just gotta get used to the dedicated channel knob for the fx other than that is pretty cool
Sold my SX and bought a DDJ1000, haven't thought about the needle search bar once. The method using the jog wheel on these is super easy and just as quick.
@@erich835 maybe it's my eyes or just my preference but the screens are too small and to far apart for my liking. I would prefer a NS7 sort of screen set up myself
So does anyone actually use their ear to beat match anymore, or do you younger kids just push two buttons on your ipads and away you go ? I used a Rane MP24 with 3 x Technics 1200's, no auto mix here!
I like to do both! I first learned to mix on vinyl and made the switch to a controller in 2014. It gets boring just pressing a few buttons. I don’t care if you use sync and make it flow together nicely. Work smart not harder ;-)
I don’t use sync but I’d be lying if I don’t use the visual aid of the software sometimes to help beat match and mix. I own turntables and a controller and there’s no denying that what these controllers can do is amazing. If I didn’t like the feel of moving platters over a static jog wheel I’d use a controller 100% of the time. My reloop 7000 mkII are so heavy and pain to set up compared to my sr2.
mate im the same i mix vinyl noemally but going travelling soon ...is there anyway to hide the bpm/pitch display ? it just feels like cheating to me ...takes the fun out of it ..
@@charlybrown642 whats the point of even calling yourself a dj ? anyone could do that ... and what happens if you go to some dingy club and the only have cdj 1000s .. you will be sweating my son ...haha
I had the mcx8000 and sent it in for repairs three times. It looks nice but loaded with problems I just purchased the ddj 1000 as we speak the 8000 is out for repair, crossfader issues, play button stop working, Tchaikovsky.
If you want to use primarily only USBs and get better practice playing on CDJs I’d buy the XDJ2. If you want to use a laptop and Recordbox DJ I’d by the DDJ 1000!
王淳霆 Hi mate.. O bought the 1000 love it... still have that nagging that in most of the clubs it is on stick... with waveform built in like rx... def something to think about...
Ok geeks like this geek, no more with that geek word SUPER. .Ok, enough. ..this is only another product brought to you by Pioneer that helps you to decide what product of theirs to buy, but don't buy this one because I am not a geek like you who NEEDS to buy this product to succeed on a world with no geeks or nerds, is that understood? , Thank you😊
Strip out version of earlier controllers from pioneer. NO master filter, NO second FX controls, only 1 fx per deck select or master, for exemple you can not selec FX ON on deck 1 and 2 and leave 3 and 4 without FX, LOOP is made worse, on DDJ RZX, DDJ RZ, DDK RX, DDJ RR looping was perfect(you have buttons to select loop size and button to activate and deactivate loop) now you can chose to map auto loop size for exemple 4 bars and when you press ACTIVATE LOOP button it always will activate 4 bar loop, there is no loops size select buttons on controler and no maping option of them. When you use PAD FX there is no parameter buttons, but you can map it (as I am) on SEARCH track buttons (exemple: use 1/2 echo or beat roll , pres button to make it smaler or bigger 1/4, 1/8, 1/16 or 1, 3/4, 2, 4...) there is no sampler colour FX knob as on DDJ RZ DDJ RZX, there is no master colour FX knob, there is no NEEDLE SEARCH, there is no REC and PLAY and SLOT buttons for SAMPLER, there is no PAUSE stop time knob, key shift buttons, no KEY SYNC button... Becouse DDJ 800 have more buttons i bought it insted of DDJ 1000 but I so regret selling DDJ RZ, and olso regret why i didnt bought used DDJ RX insted new DDJ 800...
The only time a Controller should be used to dj is by an actual producer. Any chump (millions of noobs now) can tap play and and gay horn sample on these pieces of garbage. The dj world is so sad now 🙌🏻
Tom Kaos [Official] I will agree with you that the DJ world is saturated with people who think they’re the shit. I’ve been raving for a long time and even people who actually “rave” don’t even know who the DJs are anymore. Things have changed! I’m optimistic and hope things one day get better 👌🏼
Chase Me Glad you agree lol. The problem is too many dudes dj for the wrong reasons, for $/job, popularity, etc whatever the case... its more than that. Its about being creative, having true Passion for it, being unique and pushing the music further with mixing and techniques. Ive been at it on and off for 18 years and I still dont think im great at it.. im just beginning the way I see it. More of these bandwagon jumpers need to get off the Controllers and start from scratch, use some fuckin tape decks or something.. then show me how much you really care about it other than tapping some buttons lol. 🙌🏻
Chase Me I’m hoping u can help me. I’ve been djing with sx2 for 2 years. But I wanna upgrade my equipment. Getting new Mac. (WNBA get into music production aswell) and I’m looking for a new mixer. Would u recommend his controller. I wanna learn how to dj with no laptop but also want a controller that gives me both options. I’m from Canada 18 years old. And I wanna dj clubs and festivals. Plz send me ur suggestions. Thanks
