Greatc stuff Marc. Keep them coming. there are several orher pip counting tips so would be good to cover some more as this is crucial and the hardest for some.
Amazing tip. I found this incredibly helpful as I've just started wondering how to implement the race count into my love be play as a beginner. This is great, I can't wait to try it out the next time I'm rolling the dice.
Compared to what you wrote on your book about the pip counting Marc, is this video going to add something? I read about it on your book, I liked the theory (all the book actually!), but I failed every single time I tried to put pip counting into practice. I don't know.. is there like.. daily exercises one could do to reach, step by step, that far away goal of being able to do the pip counting in a real life match, in no more than 1 minute? Thanks :)
Very helpful as always. But I would like to point out that your last position can be counted much easier using Colorless Counting. Anytime you see there are 15 checkers on each side of the board you can ignore the colors of the checkers and simply compare the two sides. And in positions that are close to 15 on each side, you can make a slight adjustment and do the same thing. Much easier and faster. Also, take your approach to the next step. Once you have the difference, doing it your way, you might still need to know the total pip count for cube action, and it's clear that you now only have to count one side. So it's still just as efficient as counting both sides to start with counting the difference.
Love this new series Marc. I was wondering if you could give some of us who have never been to tournament a lesson on what people are writing down after each game. Thanks 😊
Does anyone just keep track of the pip difference throughout the game by adding their moves to it and subtracting their opponent’s moves from it (or vice versa)? I just tried it in a couple of games and it doesn’t seem too hard. I’m just not yet sure whether it’s worth the effort in every game. *Edit:* Here’s a video on it from Nick Blasier: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XPCqp5n7jqk.html
I really hate to say this but with all the unnecessary camera movement this video useless. Your other videos I have found helpful but not this one. This is supposed to be an instructional video not an art house film.
@@PeterOzanne To each his own I guess. I was trying to match what he was saying with what he was doing but I couldn't clearly see what he was doing. I got frustrated with it and stopped before the halfway mark.
@@jcf20010 Well, I guess everything doesn't suit everyone. I can follow everything easily, so I was wondering if it wasn't just an inner block with you. I know what it's like to have a mental block, so I'm not having any kind of dig at you :-)
@@PeterOzanne I know. All the movement is very just very distracting. I use the half crossover to calculate the in pip count. I found it's the easiest for me.
