I travel a lot for work, almost exclusively by air and I just recently started taking my pipe along. I was trying to figure out a way to tote my tobacco in as small a package as possible. I also wanted to figure out a way to avoid moving tobacco from jar to bag then back again so I purchased a travel jar from The Country Squire. It’s an excellent little idea but pretty expensive at $10+ each. While playing around with it, I stumbled on a nifty little solution. I happen to use a cheap hair molding paste from Dove and for years whenever I’ve emptied a jar, I’ve cleaned it and kept it for keeping small things in. As it turns out, these little jars are the exact diameter of a mason jar lid so I dropped lids with seals into the bottom of the screw on lids for the jars and boom, the perfect travel jar. Now, I’ve got my favorite blends jar’d up in perfectly sized and sealed containers and ready to pack and unpack without transferring between containers. I’m sure this isn’t applicable to everyone but it’s worked awesome for me.
I recently purchased a tri-fold waxed canvas pipe pouch made by Whitluck. Similar design to the leather one featured in this video, but with a few more pockets. Was less than $20. Holds 2 pipes and really works great. A sturdy pouch is a very nice accessory to have for travel.
That pipe roll was designed by Tony of Dieselpunk. You can find all his designs on Etsy. Someone probably made that and then gave it to you or they bought it pre-made on Etsy. It’s a nice little pouch design, it’s the same one I use for my travels.
Man the algorithm is killing it all of a sudden. I'm pretty new to pipe smoking. Few months now at most. Seems the video I need around that time n boom u or muttinchop pops up lol. Literally was starting to think of a nice simple way to bring pipe with me on walks or out n about etc. Digging the vids man
Funny you made this video now, I’m going out of town for a week tomorrow. I have a zippered Dr Brog pouch that holds 3 pipes. I’ve got it ready to go with 4 tobaccos in snack size ziploc bags. I too love the Elizabethan Mixture and can’t wait to see your review. Keep up the good work brother, I really enjoy your videos.
I myself just took a Men's traveling bag and stuffed some Borkum Riff 1.5oz Cherry Cavendish tobacco. And two pipes with some tools for cleaning plus two good Bic lighters. Plus my cleaning rags. And I'm on my way. It works well.
Happy Anniversary. Been considering buying a pipe roll. I currently use a zip up pouch from Scott that holds two pipes, one pouch of tobacco, a few cleaners, my Zippo and tamper very well. It's a little bulky for me but for the money it was a good bargain.
@NJPiper brought up using shaving kit bags so you may be on to something there. Typically you can find nice ones that can hold just as much as a pipe roll yet half the price. It is something I'll look into myself at somepoint
Nice recos! I have a couple cases that each hold four pipes. I'm sure I'll use them more when covid cools off. I saw Jean Panzer uses a nice toiletry bag meant for traveling, which I thought was a great idea and cost effective (compared to items specifically made for pipes, which tend to be quite expensive).
@@TheSpurgeonPiper There are some really nice leather and canvas ones on Amazon with interior/exterior pockets for cheaper than a smaller dedicated pipe case. It would obviously make sense to sock the pipes to prevent dings and scratches, but it is a nice solution. I'm kinda sad I already bought pipe cases because some of those toiletry cases look way cooler. 😄👍
Good video with helpful recommendations. I traveled a few weeks back and had a similar take, put 3 pipes in pipe socks, and brought a couple jars of my go to blends. Hope you have a good trip and Happy Anniversary! How many years?
I have a 2 pipe case that I use that I got from my Scotte starter kit. It’s ok but I would like to have something bigger. The tobacco pouch is a little small
