wow i knew elaine was a talented muscian, having seen her perform in person, but man, this really made me appreciate just hot gorgeous her singing voice is!
Played it...loved it. Bit of a beast to set up and definitely a table hog. Had to burst out another side table for all the upgrade cards. Great game though Thanks NPI.
I kickstarted Pipeline on a whim one night because I thought it would be a decent 7/10 game with a nice looking board. Little did I know, Pipeline would become one of my most played games in years. I agree with Elaine, easily my favorite game of the year, without question. Thoughhhhhhhh, I do feel like your complaint of it being too punishing for people is unwarranted considering what the game is, a heavy euro. No one new to the hobby or just into 'relaxing' games is going to look at Pipeline and go "Yeah that looks easy to pick up". Also, can we give Ryan a round of applause for the clean rulebook with little rules overhead? So many economic games I've played these days have many small restricting rules that aren't evident while you play, and yet Pipeline is clean like... highly refined oil. I don't think that pun works.

Man I used to have that kids Pipeline game from the intro when I was a kid! I played it all the time! It was what actually came to mind when I saw this video.
I've definitely messed up by taking a mid level contract too early. Only 2 plays so far at 4 players each with 2 different friend groups that owned it. Enjoyed it both times so far
This review of Pipeline is a much better explanation of how the game and each action works than, dare I mention, SUSD? They went hard on comedy, and it was funny, but the explanation of the game itself felt under-detailed (inventing a word there) about what actually happens on your turn and what everything does. As such, I bounced off it immediately. Now, I have a much better understanding of what each action or what each turn can do, how your turn actually works, and how the pieces and mechanics work together. It probably still isn't something I would personally buy for my shelves, but now I at least understand it, and if someone pulled it out for a game night, I wouldn't quake in fright.
I played Pipeline a couple of weeks ago, and while I liked the game system I found it so prone to AP that I probably wouldn't play it again (at least not without house ruling a few things). In the end it took us almost 4 hours to play, and I spent most of the game worrying about whether we'd finish before the cafe we were in closed rather than focusing on the game (one player had to leave before final scoring to catch a train).
