I was part of that large choir they added for the "No Time At All" track. We assembled on the upper West Side. Incredible does not even begin to explain how that afternoon was. Stephen Schwartz was so impressed with our harmony that he wrote a new ending on the spot for the recording. Our picture is in the CD. Incredible experience.
This might be the one and only time that I’ve found a revival cast album to be superior to the original cast album. There’s just so much phenomenal singing happening here. Especially Patina Miller - she’s simply stunning.
I agree!! The original was my first Broadway show (after Ben Vereen left the), then my daughter’s first show with this cast…so much better…Patina Miller was electrifying!
3:40, that's what you call rock-solid chemistry between two gifted performers. That can make or break a show, and it was a gift to see Matthew and Patina in person play that out.
Saw Pippin in April in NYC and it was beyond fantastic. Andrea Martin literally stopped the show with a standing ovation in the middle of the show with her number. I'm ready to hop a plane in the next half hour to go see it again and again! Hope it sweeps the Tony's. I am playing this cast recording video too many times!
i would KILL to watch a pro shot of this show, unfortunately i didn’t know this show existed until a few months ago (although i am in a production of it as a part of the ensemble, but fastrada is my dream role 🥺🥺)
Absolutely brilliant. I can't wait to grab a copy and drive my family (wife and son) insane when I play it on a continuous loop for years the same way I did my Parents and Sister. The original cast was the first CD I ever bought myself and this version will be the first one I buy my now 16 month old son. Thank you!
My *high school* staged Pippin when I was a sophomore! I had seen a number of musicals before, many of them classics, but there was something incredibly magical about seeing Pippin for the very first time. I was utterly entranced! It's my most favorite musical ever, and I go to any and all productions near me. Chef's 💋
Of course not I find this one to be far better due to the sheer amount of passion I sense from these artists. Like Terry Mann just yes I love that man more than I should and Andrea Martian as the grandmother I love her so much. Matthew makes a far better Pippin and I love Patina's range for Leading Player.
Yet another amazing video look at this incredible cast, recording something so so special. The energy, commitment , joy, creativity, talent of cast, musicians, orchestrators, writers, team work jumps out at you from the screen . I am in total awe......and SO wished family UK could have been there ! Just seen after 24 hours, its #1 in US soundtrack download chart.....and even #6 in UK. Yay !
I watched this for like the 30th time and i cried watching it. I want to see this show so so so bad. It just tells a story that feels to me is my story and I hold it dear to my heart. I just love it. Hope I can see this show someday.
OMG watching this was amazing. I was so happy when i got the album the day it got out that by the time came around my parents told me to turn it off because it had been playing all night. I love this cast album so much makes me want to see the show even more.
Seeing this Friday evening during our annual anniversary (41st anniversary, this year!) week in NYC. Also seeing Kinky Boots Wednesday evening! Can't wait!
Alyssa B because in the book they need to get a new actor for Pippin each time the show is put on, because the grand finale involves the actor playing Pippin to jump into a pit of fire. There’s also a joke in act II as to how many years Catherine has been playing her role, and that she’s almost too old for it.
O-M-G the guy playing Charlemagne is incredible. he could do Gilbert & Sullivan any time. and - maybe he has. whew! way out, man. lol the actress playing the lover is really good. she sings with more gusto than the original - whom i always found too sweet.
What with the massive sing-a-long starting at 2:58? Are all those people on the sound track or is just a cute thing that happened at an event? Someone tell me, I'm curious.
Does anyone have even a small clip of Andrea performing "No Time At All" in the show? Its all anyone is talking about and I want to see it and I live in Chicago!!!!!!!!! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!
Couldn't disagree more. This version is a product of its time, just as the 1972 version was a product of its. The songs themselves are timeless and that's what's magic about it. A new generation of fans is humming along to the same melodies that people were in the 70's.
I saw this tour, I don't remember them being miked It's a mediocre show with a remarkable opening. It loses steam real fast. I also saw it in the '70s and the although the new production is by far the better one, the music is just boring - lots of trite lyrics about eagles soaring - if that sort of thing is for you, this is your show
