THIS scene. It shows that Jack is deeply intelligent who messes with his opponents, always staying one step ahead. In my opinion, this kind of cleverness was never shown in the new Dead Men Tell No Tales. It's sad, really.
Wasn't there a scene of Barbossa talking to the bald witch in which she mentions that she cursed all of his enemies under his request? Jack had ridiculous luck besides his cleverness, maybe he got cursed too so he's not as lucky anymore??
Dead men Tell No Tales depicts the fall of Jack Sparrow. He is drunk all the time, really doesn't care anymore about anything, not using his brain. And at one time someone tells him that his luck run out. Well, apparently, it didn't. This is Dead Men Tell No Tales. It is good. Not epic, but good.
@Emperor Ssraeshza To be fair his wackiness can be easily explained in 3 because he shows signs during multiple times in the movie of being that witty mastermind instead of that parody, and the wackiness can be passed off as a trauma/insanity from the locker. He was already having hallucinations, mood changes are definitely to be expected, and the second one was kinda dull just in the fact that there was nothing to really mastermind. It was just a chasing movie, find the dutchman. Find the key. Annoying subplots. 1 and 3 were the big movies, especially 3 with everyone working with and around Beckett's deals. We got to see Jack's genius, just in a different way, the last few movies have squandered that which was a shame because Salazar's character was actually super interesting but the movie itself not only contradicted the lore (with the compass) but held jack to the "I'm a wacko parody of myself" again.
@Emperor Ssraeshza what are you even talking about we still have his genius throughout the whole trilogy? he escapes a torture prison with the key to his salvation, tricked a tribe into thinking he was a god, is already manipulating Will into getting said key the moment he sees him again, is the only one to realize how to escape from the locker, escapes from the most powerful and guarded ship in the Caribbean, and his original plan of stealing the heart nearly worked, and at least fucked over Davy Jones. even in stranger tides he escaped from king george's fuckin palace, I don't think you can really top that. he's always had that hint of luck with his genius, like how he escaped the first time Barbossa marooned him, with a rum-runner ship. and again thanks to Elizabeth. the fact Will saved his life at all was pure luck
1:28 I love Jack's expression because he's like, "Dude... Not all pirates sound like that." I love how he is the pirate that debunks pirate stereotypes that we kids grew up with. XD XD XD
"What arrrrrrrre ye doin'?" "What are you doing?" "No, 'What arrrrrrrrre ye doin!'" "What are *you* doing?" They weren't even fighting about the same thing. It was about the elongated "R" for Barbosa. It was about the enunciated "you" for Jack.
1:28 -- Will's earnest, innocent look of "what did I say? oops, did I do it wrong??" after his valiant attempt to 'pirate' correctly is just adorable and severely underrated.
Because apparently, Avas is a slang term only drunken pirates say and Jack IS NO DRUNK PIRATE... HES THE BEST PIRATE IVE ... 2:06 Jack’s turn of head and expression when WT says “here they come” and then the wry smile is one of the best movie moments ever, for it sums up Jack Sparrow in one scene. The musical score is also perfect. Priceless, just priceless.
Can we just appreciate that Jack totally bluffed his way into getting a ship. "This ship cannot be crewed by two men... oh it's Jack Sparrow we're talking about? EVERYBODY RUN! CALL THE COMMODORE!"
His name is Ian Burke. He was born when his mother had an affair with a pirate. Both of his “fathers” abandoned him. His mother was hung. He was raised by a fisherman named Peter Bradford. When Ian was old enough he joined the British navy to kill his pirate father for everything he did. After years of serving below deck he worked his way up the ranks. On this particular day he saw his chance to prove himself as a pirate killer and impress commodore Norrington. He knew it was a long shot to swing to the other boat but he felt fate was smiling on him that day. You know the rest
My favorite scene is when they pick up jack at Davy Jones locker and he says " why should I sail with any of you? 4 of you tried to kill me and one of you succeeded"
just for those who dont understand (like a young me when i first saw this) what makes this scene so brilliant and tells us how caluclated Jack Sparrow is... as Sam says, two men cant get the sails unfurled and be able to adjust them so the ship can turn around, Jack knows this so after Sam and his crew are in the lifeboat, Jack deliberatly makes it look like they are struggeling, Comodor Norington then rolls up with his ship with full sails and made ready for sailing, so when the crew switches ships, jack and will can be on their merry way, with all the difficult heavy lifting bits done... but this is where the key is, commodore Norington had his crew put the sails to full, in an attmempt to turn it, and if not able to sink it, he could at least give chase, albeit by the time they turned it would of been a push, Jack obviosuly knew this, so his best choice, disable the rudder chain so he is not in range of the cannons and B, that ship cant chase him. this is whats so good about it... he didnt just steal the ship, he got the other crews to make it easy for him to steal, without them even knowing
I like how they captured the British attitude in norrington excellently - He was clearly angry but didn't raise his voice or lose his temper, he even reluctantly agreed with his first mate when he told him a very hard truth.
“It’s remarkable how often those two traits [madness and brilliance] coincide” Madness and brilliance coincide perfectly inside Captain Jack Sparrow, the best pirate we’ve ever seen.
This scene alone made my friend who never watched this movie before change from saying "saddest movie ever" to "omg this is actually really interesting"😂😂😂
I think it's possible if 1) the boat is quite heavy by itself 2) There's only a thin pocket of air at the top, just enough to breathe through your nose. What's depicted in the movie seems unrealistic
@@jemert96 I think once they were fully submerged the water pressure would have done the work for them and if they were quick enough the air would have lasted them long enough to get to the ship
Jack's smile as the Interceptor begins catching up to them is so damn good. It's all coming together for him, and he loves seeing people act predictably and exploitably.
As a security supervisor for a large manufacturer I can say that this scene is very realistic. It's up to the officers to prevent this from happening(such as keeping small handful of that force on the interceptor) but in the event of great importance I've seen regulations dropped more than once.
"Everyone stay calm! We're taking over the ship!" Whenever a couple die in canon movies/tv shows, the shippers and fanfic writers are there to the rescue.
Priceless the abandon ship it's serious but hard not to laugh it's noticeable that the ship is moving toward the small ship and it is very last seconds. Also priceless Norrignton reaction after hear that's got to be the best Pirate I've ever seen.
I love this scene so much Jack is revealed to be extra brilliant and I love how even Norrington acknowledged pretty early in the movie Jack is the best pirate he's ever seen
fabio Escalante which only worked because apparently EVERY sailor and marine was needed to search one immobile galleon and leave the frigate they came with
If it had been a corvette ( 26 to 30 guns) I would have. But since it was a brig not really. It only had 16 guns. That's why It was so outmatched against a galleon like the black pearl and her 32 12 pound cannons
1:06 'The devil is in the Details'. I bet many people never paid attention to Jack tying the crabtrap around the Dauntless' rudder, disabling the Man o'War. "Do you think he plans it out, or just makes it up along the way". Definately the latter, but that only proves his magnificent brilliance!
I remember when this came out I was just a kid in elementary school, and for about 2 weeks straight at school at recess I started Pirates of The Caribbean and literally had everyone involved (my grade was mixed with the grade above us) and in total I think out of the 120 some kids about 1/3 - 1/2 of them were playing Pirates with me. I was Jack of course and we were doing basically the battle of the Black Pearl vs Flying Dutchman from the 2nd movie and it was great. I’ll never forget those days and that was about 10-12 years ago
days that we'll never see again... kids these days don't play these kind of made-up playground-battle games outside anymore, like we did, because they can just do it all online on video games. I'm not saying that's necessarily a bad thing, but there definitely is something to be missed about imagining a huge battle with ur friends when in reality you've just got a couple of sticks and some swings... we traded imagination and creativity for instantaneous shock and awe
I like the commodore’s executive, Jack stole an entire ship without even wounding one man by his own hand, and then sailed it right out of a British port whilst they do nothing but watch.
When Will says he'll die for Elizabeth, that literally led to the fact he got stabbed by Davy Jones in the 3rd film and he stabbed the heart and sacrificed himself to save Elizabeth and Jack but since he's the Captain of the flying Dutchman and he and Elizabeth spent one day and the Dutchman must have a Captain. That's why Will is my favorite character along the rest of the crew of the black Pearl including Captain Jack Sparrow.
