They don't show up in the story, but I'd like to make a case for a vampire turncoat and a bird with a knife as being nice little nuggets of flavor all on their own. Also the Grim Captain is a callback to Grim Captain's Call from OG Ixalan, so in a way it has more lore than most legendary creatures get these days.

Ixalan having monkey-like goblins who are mostly pirates and Ragavan being a regular monkey pirate who is not a goblin has tripped me up more than once.

Have loved you guys since the first couple of episodes over on another channel, really glad are like solidly doing your own thing. I don’t know how ya don’t have over a million subscribers by now but numbers are going up and that’s just awesome to see because you guys are a really wonderful corner stone of the community. "Booty, a category in which I evaluate how good ..." In the small space between this word and the next yawned a chasm of possibility. It lay before Magic Arcanum to ascend (or descend?) to true legend. As the episode ended I though to myself, awash with the deep melancholy of an opportunity forclosed, "they should have just rated their bums".

While I typically agree with your rankings, and enjoy having the Admiral as my Pirate Typal Commander, she's really a Mine Foreman who can convince pirates to do manual labor. Her first card would rank high but "Brass's Bounty" & "Brass's Tunnel-Grinder" drag her down. It's like her creature cards reflect her reputation while the non-creature cards, that bear her name, reflect her actions. Keep up the good work.

I am sorry to say but High and Dry got destroyed when Phyrexia invaded according to what little lore they put put for “Admiral Brass, Unsinkable”. She gets the moniker of “unsinkable” as she still tries to make a free pirate nation and won’t let a little invasion from another world get in the way of that

I'm not sure that's correct. According to the Planeswalker Guide to LCI, Brass chased the Phyrexians out of High and Dry, and created a safe spot for anyone who needed refuge from the invasion. That's what allowed her to grow in power and earn the respect of the other factions, and that's why they now recognize High and Dry as a free pirate nation. magic.wizards.com/en/news/feature/planeswalkers-guide-to-the-lost-caverns-of-ixalan

RE: The Grim Captain- I built a RG deck dedicated to flipping him as quickly as possible which is only possible due to Midnight Hunt and Crimson Vow's Red Vamps staying in Standard longer than expected. It is....not great. But very fun!

@@MagicArcanum I totally get what you're saying, it's just that she was definitely my favorite creature in a rakdos pirate deck that I built to take to my first. FNM and my 45-50 homebrew took second place that night. Idk something about sacrificing a whole bunch of treasures and giving her double strike when she was unblocked made it seem like she was doing some shiesty pirate things to me lol.

Planeswalkers don't appear in this series because the scale really isn't calibrated for them. Her legendary score would be 10, because she was a protagonist for the entire original Ixalan block, and as a female gorgon assassin pirate working for an elder dragon, she'd also have a perfect 10 for otherworldly. Planeswalkers also get multiple cards with multiple abilities, so it's easy for those to collectively reflect everything the character does, and she was questing for the best treasure on all of Ixalan, and was there to see it claimed, so yeah she'd have basically a full 40/40 and would be in first place by a large amount, which kinda makes it not fun (in my opinion)
