Hey everyone! In this video I compare the 2 Pit Boss smokers side by side. After shooting the video I did notice that the chicken from the vertical had a better smokey flavor. I guess I didn’t let it sit long enough when I filmed the tasting of the chickens part. For the actual cook itself I’d give the win to the Classic. For taste and flavor it goes to the Vertical. I used the Pit Boss Competition blend pellets for this cook in both smokers. Hit the subscribe if you haven’t already as I’ll have more content coming soon.

Great video I have the same vertical and what I do is I rotate my meat because towards the back of it always seems to be a bit warmer than closer to the door

Why you keep lids open on warm up?
@paulsq_
@paulsq_ 3 года назад
Hey Bruno, I keep the lid open for the startup for the reason that I’ve heard of people who have left the lid down during startup have have had the lid blow off when the combustion of the pellets takes place. As soon as I know the grill is fired up I close the lid and set to whatever temp I’m looking to cook or smoke with.

Informative video Paul. I am new to the PB vertical Series 4 smoker and wondered why it always seems to take longer than the vidoes to cook - its the vaiance in the temp reading on the control panel vs. the actual grate. The more food/levels you occupy the greater the difference can be. One way to help mitigate this is to rotate food and shelves. I also started using a smoker tube recently so I get smoke throughout the cook, not just in pellet bursts. I have a Therma Pro and will start using probes on the grates as well as in the food for measuring - great tip!

My pit boss is cooked. This is the second control panel and temperature censor. Done with pit boss not having luck with them. Going to get my offset now

Hey Brian, sorry to hear about your luck with the Pit Boss. Hope you enjoy your offset, as I really love mine when I do use it.

What offset did you get? I’m looking at getting a Yoder Cheyenne possibly this weekend to replace my Oklahoma Joe with. I’ve found a great deal on one

@@paulsq_ Oklahoma Joe long horn. Starting out on the low end working up to a Yoder.

I hear you on that Brian. That’s what I decided too. The long horn is a nice size pit. I wanted to get the longhorn but I couldn’t find one in store here in Canada where I’m at. So I went with the highland instead.

Watched a few of your videos, definitely like your honesty. Thinking I'm going to be getting a pit boss soon. Been looking into pellet grills lately, the pit boss does just as much and eaven more then top names for 1/3 the price thanks, from AZ! Keep it up!

Great video Paul. Thanks for the comparison of taste. Buddy has a vertical like that one. He always says he hates to crank it up for just a couple racks of ribs or a bird or two. When he uses it, he does big cooks. Takes a lot to heat that chamber up and keep it up to temp. I’m sure it used more pellets. Man that temp difference is crazy 30 degrees. I can see some rotating of food going on if it’s loaded with meat.

Great looking birds Paul. Did the copperhead have a more crispier skin than the classic? Where can you order the Bastard Rub? Have a great weekend😷😷😷

How do you like the foil in the water pan. Good to see that the Classics seems to cook quicker on the left side.

Really good information on the 2 Pitboss smokers. I love your thermoworks smoke setup. I really like my copperhead and I have my own opinions why there are such inconsistencies in pit temps. Anyhow all those birds came out great

I se guys putting a electric fan in the top of these verticals to circulate the air better and it fixes the temp fluctuations

Wooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bastard Rub!!!!! Where can I get some of that? That was odd how there was such a difference in temps on the bird in the Classic. Great comparison video, Brother. Hey, you forgot one bird!!!! RTFO!!! GB
