Dude okay video. I love my PB xl 1000 and I recently discovered breaking down the entire grill lightly covering everything in baking soda letting sit for 20 minutes come back with my variety size pack of scrappers and bam like new . Baking Soda is a Beast Cleaner .!!! Reseason with Crisco 350 degrees for 45 minutes and bam no more rust .!!! Good luck and God speed .!!!
I have the 850 pro series and it doesn’t have that flat ash tray or the removable firebox. Makes me wish I’d have done the 1150 but I still love this thing. I cook everything in it.
Cool video. Assembled my Pit Boss 1150 this morning. Did the burn off and seasoning. Smoking a prime rib for the first smoke. New to smoking and pellet grills so this will be helpful. Thanks
Great video dude, I also bought a super cheap $30 shop vac to suck up all the dry stuff. I have the 850 and it doesn’t have that cool firepot remover below, so a shop vac is the most convenient way for me.
Thats how I do it. Shop vac. I throw the grates in a tote with water and cleaner and let them soak and then blast them with a hose. It is laborious but part of the deal. I love our Pit Boss pellet smoker.:)
I have the Pro 850 and do pretty much the same method you do, except I use my inexpensive Harbor Freight pressure washer to clean the grill grates. Works really good
Looking to buy one and wanted to see what the clean up was like. Thank you! I think I have made up my mind to buy the PitBoss 1150. I will tell them that Nick sent me🙂
I just got the Pit Boss 1150 Version 3 pellet smoker. It has all the modifications that I have seen that people have been asking over the years. I have noticed some people have put aluminum foil over the dome surface to make cleanup easier. I don't know if that is a good idea. Pit Boss people told me not to do that. How about cleaning. After 6-12 months of use cleaning the grill out every 2 cooking times is it good to use a degreaser to get rid of the build up grease inside? I also have been told to use a plastic scraper to clean the inside walls of the unit. Any other suggestions would be helpful.
Thanks for this. Just bought one and have no clue how to clean lol. Can you use foil on that large piece to make clean up easier? Or does that mess up heat dispersion?
very good video I have saved it for future reffrance. Could you do a bread test video to see if this grill has even heat across the entire grilling surface?
I did this teat this morning, I'll have to try again to see if I get similar results, but I found that the very middle for some reason was cooler, about 20 degrees or so. The right side was hotter 20 degrees or so than what the stock temp reader was saying. The stock temp reader is on the left side of the grill.
How often between cooks. I'm looking at this grill. I have a Camp chef. I always smoke on the top shelf with a drip tray under. I cleaned my grill after 2 years. There was only ash, because I rarely opened the flame vents
Hey…. Great video… do you ever clean your internal probe….?? I never have but after owning and using mine for a year… thought I’d like to know how. Thanks
Nice video. Quick question for yiu. I just picked up an 1150 pro and did the burn off and season the plate. When i have it on the smoke setting, does smoke come out of the ash cleanout tray? I know not all of the smoke goes out the stack, but its just weird it coming out the bottom too? Is there any way to seal it up?
