i watched my father lay his ladder up against the the bottom part of a really tall gambrel barn roof and he ran up the ladder and when he got to the roof he just kept running, i was just a kid and i remember thinking how is he gonna get down now ... he literally slid down on his ass till his feet hit the ladder then spun around and climbed down. oh and he was wearing cowboy boots 🤣🤦🏻♂️ he was a nut , he used to climb and service coast guard radio towers too .
12/12 or below they are awesome with no worries. That crazy pitch I wouldn't even get on it with whatever if it was straight drop to ground. Church roofers are insane🤣
Roofed with my uncle for 2 days… he was so strung out on speed… he shot a nail with a nail gun through his hand… I watched him pull it out with a hammer and that was enough for me… never worked with him again
They do exist, I've met sober people that jump around like crackheads, none were roofers though. If you piss clean, you're fired, I can't trust you on my roof.
They borrowed my big grill lighter and brought it back empty. By the end of the job they got a little paranoid and hid in my garbage cans for awhile. Up until than they moved quick and they didn’t want lunch. He wanted 8000 dollars for the job but he needed a 20 $ dollar deposit before he could work every time.
Methhead: "Oh yea, we specialize in everything! You name it, we do it." Crackhead: "I ain't no joke bruh. I know what I'm doing. You ain't gotta tell me nothing." Alcoholic: "Do you think we could wait and start this job in January when it's freezing cold outside?"
The only roofer I ever knew was a heroin addict who ended up being on a drug intervention show. He was very scary looking and much older looking than he actually was, super nice guy, bought me donuts once. I hope he's clean now.
As someone who has worked in construction all my life and been in recovery yes this is very true. I cannot stand people that make the entire personality hey there he's just now in recovery and has yet to be humbled or he's one of them people that makes out his whole personality. Like the previous job I had there's a lot of people there using drugs and I kind of couldn't get away from it so I started realizing you know hey I'm the one that has a problem they might do but whatever with them I got to worry about me and I realized you know I should not expect other people or whatever around me ask me to go find somewhere else to work that those kind of people don't work and then I stay off drugs and I make more money.
@@donaldn5798 and I'm sure they're all still fine. He'll get him one of them fancy pitch step things if it'll make the job quicker just make sure that if they don't have one they can still figure your way up there and don't become relyinant on it
You got enough for the both of us lol... Roofers have been using cushions for years. About time somebody reshaped it like a triangle and it's making money off of it.
@@chadvaillancourt I agree.... I do a lot of interior work. But I just finished up a few roofs I put off to the end of the year. I cannot buy what they sold but I definitely had three or four couch cushions for the 12 Pitch on the front of the house
u and the 33 geniuses that liked your comment really should look up the definition of creole and then ask yourself what the f#@$ about that sentence makes any sense.
They don't just had a coworker fall 30 ft broke his spine And wrist has been out of work the last 3 months because he thought he could fully rely on a pitch Hopper. And we were only on a 47 degree pitch. Don't waste your money on these piece's of shit. use a harness and rope.
Crackhead roofers is literally a thing where I live in California on a house 1200 square feet a roof is like $20,000 but if you hire some crackheads it's like $8,000
Same thing with framers usually it’s 15-25 sf but since these crackhead framers came in now everyone wants to pay 5-6 bucks per sf that’s like 8-12k for an entire house are you kidding me how you supposed to pay 3-5 guys with that something needs to change…
I had to take copious amounts of drugs being a roofer to get over the fear of heights, nothing like running across a ridge 5 stories up coked out because you know it’s impossible to fall
I tried roofing once, day 2 I saw the “boss” smoking crack in the work trailer at 10am with one of the other guys. Finished out my week and never called or showed up again. Everyone told me before hand the trade is full of crack heads. I now work in concrete construction 😂 😂
This is one of the construction workers that chose to do this job. Its prolly his Dads busniess, or his Dad taught him the ropes. Now he spends his days thinking he's better than the guys that have no choice but to work a job like that. They never had Daddy taking them out for hour lunches, and they always have to stay late when Dad and son gets to go home. Thats how construction really works.
Using it on a 8/12 roof right now and it’s a game changer! Will be using it next week on a 10/12. I feel safer on it than jacks because you can quickly move it wherever you want. Also wearing CougarPaws and a harness.
I feel the same about wearing life jackets in the middle of the ocean, with no boat. I’d rather drown than put trust in an inanimate piece of foam. No way no how.
