Would you eat a donut burger? How about a pickle and peanut butter sandwich? You might like it if you don’t try! Changing our minds is a fact of life. Oftentimes, it gets a bad rap. But when it comes to reading informational texts, you should evaluate whether you agree with the author, change your mind on the topic, or you disagree with the author. The third big question is all about beliefs and because we live in a democratic society, we must evaluate nonfiction with a critical eye. Just because someone claims something is true doesn’t mean it’s accurate information. (fake news anyone?)
