Most of us know Pixar as the established dominating animation studio that is it today, responsible for some of the greatest animated movies of our time. But the truth is that this massively successful studio came from very humble beginnings. In fact, on its first few years the studio was consistently on the verge of bankruptcy, losing millions of dollars. even after the success of Toy Story.
In this video I’ll tell you the story behind Pixar, and how founding it was made possible thanks to 3 very different people, with very different talents.

I see you've seen the Pixar Story documentary. I'm feeling very nostalgic hearing this story again. Thank you for condensing it into an easily rewatchable 12 minutes so that I can revisit it more easily in the future. However, I will say that it bothers me a little bit that many people don't know where your information comes from, or how similar it is to its source material.

The scenes from Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and The Lion King were part of this history reel because Pixar collaborated with Disney to work on them; they had computer animated effects within them and they were the only classics by the Walt Disney Animation Studios to feature them. The details of those classics which had the effects were: the enchanted ballroom by sweeping camera movements, the Cave of Wonders, the escape scrolling through it, the palace tower as it launched, landed onto and plummeted off the ends of the Earth and the wildebeest stampede when they dashed through the gorge.

I would like for Pixar to include all its shorts set in the same worlds as its movie franchises along with the holiday specials set there too, bundled together and having all the characters by the recognized and remembered; both main and supporting on there with all the place settings behind them.

This short clone of The Pixar Story by deleted scenes and deciphering extended the tale of the birth of the studio that changed the generation of animation. I wish to work there and turn my characters real, but they will be photorealistic cartoons.

Actually, George Lucas was interested in doing CGI movies in the 80's but due his divorce with his wife Marcia, he lost a lot of money and therefore lacked the the millions of dollars that required to do so as CGI was in its infancy back then.

don't follow this guy, his interpretation is ridiculously flawed, even tho this lightweight walkthru is roughly similar to the actuality. read Ed Catmull's book Creativity Inc. to get an insight into this amazing organisation and it's story and methods, which this guy completely DOESN'T understand. If you want evidence go and watch the dross he's made in his own animated rubbish.

You mean Steve Jobs failed again and again? But he was the most innovative person on the planet! How could this be?! Answer: He was the worst and most overrated business man in history.
@WolfHeathen
@WolfHeathen 8 лет назад
Monster LMA He came back because Apple bought his new company. Microsoft saved Apple, not Steve Jobs. He almost ruined Apple twice.
@Dan-TechAndMusic
@Dan-TechAndMusic 6 лет назад
While I too think Steve Jobs is overrated, he's very far from the worst business man in history. His first period at Apple after co-founding it with Steve Wozniak was rocky. The Apple II was a success, but then the Apple III and Apple Lisa were massive failures, even though the Lisa was a big push for the graphical user interface, something we take for granted today. But both the III and Lisa were largely Jobs' projects, and they failed. The Macintosh, another push for the GUI, also didn't have a great launch (even if it did become Apple's trademark computer later on), and of course, he got ousted from his company, replaced by John Sculley, who was brought on by Jobs himself. NeXT Computers was never a massive success, but it definitely has importance. It essentially was the beginnings of OS X, which evolved to macOS, iOS, watchOS and tvOS. While Apple, who went through 3 CEOs after Jobs left, started to massively struggle staying relevant, they wanted to create a new version of the Macintosh operating system in the 90s, that would be future proof for the 2000s. The Copland project as it was dubbed, would be this operating system. However, Apple massively failed, and OS 8 never lived up to their aspirations for the Copland project. Instead of meddling on, they decided to buy out another company with the technology they needed. Eventually that would be NeXT, whose OPENSTEP technology was far more future proof. And that foundation would lead to the development of Mac OS X, with Steve Jobs as CEO again. And it worked. Sure, Apple *did* need cash, which Microsoft supplied in exchange of having Internet Explorer ship with Macs for several years, but Steve got Apple back on track. He cut off all the hundreds of different and confusing Mac SKUs, and made it far more simple: Four models of Mac, one home desktop Mac (iMac), one home laptop Mac (iBook), one professional desktop Mac (PowerMac), and one professional laptop Mac (PowerBook). That, along with OS X, made Apple's computer devision futureproof. Then iPod took on the portable audio market like the Walkman did in the 80s, and eventually, OS X would be the foundation for the iPhone's operating system, which undeniably changed the mobile phone market for good. And while Macs never truly took on the PC market that Microsoft dominated, Apple actually has some competition for Google in the smartphone market, where Microsoft failed to get in.
