I show you how to transfer (download, copy, move, save) files such as photos and videos from a Google Pixel 6 or 6 Pro smartphone to any Windows computer, PC or laptop using the charging cable.

Doesn't work. Computer charges phone but does not recognize it / make tones /etc. Plus there's no silent notification for "Charging this device via USB". Lots of folks are having problems with their Windows 10 PC recognizing the Pixel 6/Pro. Still looking for an answer.

Under Settings, select About Phone. Tap the Build Number item at the bottom of this screen 7 times. This will enable Developer Options. Go back to the main Settings menu and select System. Select Developer Options. Enable USB Debugging. Connect your USB and you're good to go. I tried using my Huawei USB Type C and it didn' work but my USB C from my USB For my Ledger worked.

@@francescodifonzo9213 then there's a good chance the problem is the usb cable you're using. I used three cables before I got one to work and the only one that worked was the usb for my crypto key. I tried using two other USB cables (one from my Huawei p20 pro phone and the other from my B&O wireless headphone charger) and neither one of them worked.

Pixel phone comes with USB type C to type C cable. Most of the desktop and laptops don't have USB type C port! They have type A ports. Very common problem not seems addressed anywhere! I found thsi video after lots of search. Many thanks!

For anyone STILL struggling with the connection problem in 2023. I have figured it out no thanks to ANY youtube videos. When you plug in the usb-c cable and the options come up on the phone, open them and select PTP and NOT file transfer!! You also must have debugging turned on in the developer section...with PTP as the option, a Windows 10 PC automatically recognizes the Pixel 6 Pro and you can access it's photo and video folder like any other hard drive. Hope this helps, as I know there is a ton of people having this issue still.

Thanks, that helps with photos and video, but you don't get access to other folders like Documents or Downloads.

For those who are still struggling with the issue, Under Settings, select About Phone. Tap the Build Number item at the bottom of this screen 7 times. This will enable Developer Options. On my first try using Pirate's recommendation of enabling developer options and USB debugging no success. So ... I tried a differen USB cable and now it works. Thanks for the video and feedback from ya'll. Stay thirsty my friends.

This didn't seem to work at first but I went back to the USB options, changed to no transfer then back to file transfer and the pixel icon showed up in my explorer. Makes me wonder if changing cables was just a physical way of doing the same thing. At any rate, thank you!

Hey you, I'm so happy that this works again. It used to work with my Samsung smartphones, since some years it didn't work. Now that I switch to pixel 6 pro it works again! That's great 👍 One could add a shortcut to the desktop with the DCIM folder of the pixel phone, that makes it even more easy! 😀😀😀 Now I am demoralized. I connected a USB C to USB A cable, but no window opens on my computer, even after switching from charging to data transfer on the Pixel 6 Pro. And of course I can't find it at the explorer window. If I try to look it up under devices and printer it is not to be found, again looking it up on the Systray I find it under devices and printer to throw it out. I feel lost. Any help? By the way, i am from Germany.

Very helpful, thanks. On my previous phone (LG) I just had to connect the phone to the laptop and it popped up as an external drive allowing me to drag and drop photos to my laptop. Without your video I wouldn't have figured out the extra step required to access files on the Pixel 6 Pro. Good video.

For those running into an issue where they're unable to view video files from their pixel on a pc because of some form of codec issue with HEVC I found a solution. Like in the video, set your USB prefrence settings to "File transfer / Android Auto" and then scroll down and select "Convert Videos to AMC" under file transfer options. You might lose some video quality but at least you can view them on your pc.

I too had the same problem which remained unsolved. . Go to settings. Click. CONNECTED DEVICE then USB under wich click FILE TRANSFER/ANDROID AUTO. . AT last files from my Google pixel 6 got a display on my laptop

Doesn't worj for me. My laptop has a usb c port and I can use the USB c to c and even after selecting file transfer nothing happens. It's a nightmare. Never thought I will spend this much time trying to figure out ways to transfer files. It's 2023 and it shouldn't be complicated. Never had a problem with my 5 year old xiaomi phone.

Heya! So when I click on 'file transfer/Android Auto, it selects it for about 5 seconds before flicking back automatically to 'no data transfer'. I can't find it in the documents. I've created an album in google photos that I'd like to upload to Facebook without having to send a link, rather just have the individual photos upload. I've been told we can only send photos to third parties via links and I'm feeling a bit annoyed by this, hence why I was a\wanting to try and get them onto my laptop! Could you please help? :D

I had this working with no problem. Then my computer told me the driver was out of date and asked if I wanted to update it. So I did and the stupid computer will not recognize my phone. It knows it exists. It shows up under Devices and Printers. It does not show up in File Explorer so I can't open it and transfer files. I wasted HOURS working on this idiotic problem. Throwing the stupid phone and/or computer out the window is probably the best option at this point.

I came to watch this video because I have exhausted all options to find the charge/transfer function without any result. A smartphone expert tried to help me find it and failed. I went to the T-Mobile store for help. They could not find where the charge/transfer function tab was. Your phone showed "Finish setting up your pixel” I don’t see that on mine.

Thank you so much for making this video. I switched from an iPhone to a pixel pro. My iPhone automatically did everything. It was so simple. Pixel 6 pro has great hardware but, it has been the biggest pain in the neck. Everything takes 10 extra steps. Honestly, I hate it and I plan to go back to iPhone or get the new Telsa phone. The Pixel 6 isn't user-friendly at all.

6A comes just with a tiny c-port that won't go into a standard laptop. You have to buy a normal usb cable and that's after you've already paid several hundred dollars for the phone. Then you have to deal with all these prompts on the screen to connect to your laptop. My old Samsung phone didn't have any of these unneeded steps, it would instantly connect via usb with no problem. Downgrade.

For those still having trouble: - Make sure you are using a cable that is capable of data transfer - Purchasing a USB-c to a adapter will not guarantee results - Consider using Google Drive to upload files/photos then downloading them via you PC's browser
