Google Pixel has always been known for their great camera systems. But with their third iteration of the Pro line, is just a good camera enough to warrant the name?

No idea why your unpopular account was recommended to me in Germany. BUT! You are pretty funny, i love all the cuts and got your points. Your style is unique. Keep it man and please push your account. I am sure you can be a big RU-vidr! And never forget your roots. Don't become a boring tech RU-vidr who just introduce spec sheets.

I got New pixel 3xl last year, I totally loved it, stuck to it and unlimited photo plus vedio storage meant even with 32gb i had no issues, loved haptics and everything until i broke it and now I have to pay more than it's Market value for repair if someone would have the part. but i totally loved the whole exp

Even if they use 1 gen older snapdragon for pixel 9 (gen 3) It would be so great phone overall. Now pixels are only good if you want clear software and good photos.

Pixel has the best camera. But the rest of the phone is the biggest piece of shit on the planet. I can't even take a photo without the phone crashing

We had the phone's camera bug out so hard during the photo shoot for this video. The camera was zooming in and out rapidly lmfao

Kudos for the effort made to make the S23 Ultra look catastrophic in photos and especially that the Pixel 8 is better than it in video 🤧 🚶🏽‍♂️ 🚶🏽‍♂️ 🚶🏽‍♂️

It's crazy how much better the S24 Ultra compared to the S23 Ultra is. I'm not entirely sure why no one noticed the poor video and extensive oversharpening outside of tech twitter.

@@TopGadget_ Frankly, I don't find the iPhone 15 Pro Max or the S24 Ultra drastically better than the S23 Ultra, in some cases, I even find the S23 Ultra better than the other 2.

I do know some people do prefer sharpening over softer images so there's that. Though the the level of noise, and low bit rate nature of the S23 Ultra is still apparent. I do think my definition of drastic is different to others. I do constantly upgrade my phones YoY so my attention to minor details is exacerbated. Some cases, the S23 Ultra from memory does win out, especially in HDR and sometimes in detail recovery (but this from memory probably has to do more with the sharpening). I don't remember this being the case at launch though. When I first got the S23 Ultra it was a good camera, when I did the test, my team and I tried to re shoot every photo to double check. I did have a different unit during the test vs the one I had at launch. So maybe I had a faulty unit. It's a bit too late to backtrack and a bit too expensive to test now though.

Wait, so what should I get? My 4a5g is still chuggin I guess, although at about 80% battery health. Samsung Ultras and iPhone Pros are hella expensive. Also, this is the only Pixel I've ever owned, the last Samsung I owned was the S3, and I've never had an iPhone. All that to say there isn't a strong bias or allegiance except to Android. But I could be swayed.

What do you predominantly do with your phone? Are you looking to continue your usage just with a hardware refresh/modernisation or looking for an experience beyond the Pixel? Three camps things to consider: Apple - I personally no longer drive the 15 Pro Max daily as it's too limiting for what I want to do. But in short, iPhone gets the job done. But you're walled into what's available. But usually what's available is very polished. If you need performance, it has performance, if you need cameras, it's the most reliable. Heck, as a temporary solution, I'm using the iPhone as the camera for this channel until it's necessary to swap it out. Samsung - I personally have always driven a Samsung daily. I need the S-Pen as I am an artist while not doing my normal job, so I need to have the ability to draw on the go so that's really my bias. The cameras are not consistent at all, but when they land (excluding any Samsung with 8 Gen 2; so S23, Fold5 etc) they land gracefully. What sells me for Samsung is the sheer customisability that comes with it. Yes, Android itself offers strong customisation standalone, but GoodLock and its extensions provide much more in-depth control. Pixel - I sold the 8 Pro. It was an OKAY phone. But outside its cameras, I can't do much that I would want to with it. The best way I could put it is, it's the applefied android phone. Except, what you're limited to is not refined. Not saying the PixelUI is bad, I kind of like it, and it is more consistent in design language when compared to the likes of OneUI or ColorOS, but when you want to get things done it's like the iPhone. Either it can do it or can't do it. Whether it's connecting external SSDs (for some reason, my Pixel 8 Pro couldn't connect to our recording SSD, while all our other devices could, but this could be an isolated case) or requiring performance to do something computationally intensive. The main drawback though is definitely the Tensor G3. The battery life (at least with my cell service) is no where near my other devices. It's a 1 day phone. Not 2 days. In short: Go with iPhone if you want a completely polished phone (though admittedly iOS 17 has been a buggy mess). Go with Samsung if you want to set up your own phone and the whole Android kitchen sink while you're at it. Go with Pixel if you want a phone that is being polished and you don't need the raw hardware performance. Sorry this isn't structured well, I just let my train of thought go in the moment. But if you have any specifics that you know you want to do with your phone I could probably provide you with a better answer. - Kevin

@@TopGadget_ Great response and more than expected (or deserved!). My current situation tilts me toward the P8P simply because of cost. 256gb currently going for $809 USD and Google is offering $150 for my 4a5g, so about $660. The S24 Ultra (which, let's face it, I don't actually need the Ultra) is $1300. It's currently $1150 on Amazon, but not sure about trade-ins. But I'd still be looking at like 50% more for the Samsung if I went for the big boy. As for the Pixel 8, it's $559 for the 256gb but Google only offers $42 for the trade in. So why not go big?? But then there are SO MANY little annoyances I've experienced that make me consider leaving Pixel... Stevendivish really sold me on the Samsung camera with his series using the S23 Ultra doing video. Am I on his level? No. Do I even do video? Not really. But he showed what the phone is capable of when you learn to use manual settings. One thing that I really want is a good battery. I've been on my phone quite a bit today, but I took it off the charger around 9am and now at 2.45pm it's at 25%. I don't play games. My most CPU/GPU intensive app is youtube. I'm also known to have over 60 Chrome tabs open. But if an old midrange phone with 6gb of RAM can handle it, any new phone should be able to. Sorry. These are just the ramblings of a rando in your youtube comments section.

For $660 USD, I'd say the Pixel 8 Pro is worth it. Though if you're going from Pixel to Pixel, I'd say it might be fun to spice things up a bit and change brands. Though with the price being considered, that deal is pretty good. I think Samsung may be having another sale soon. I wouldn't consider the Pixel 8 base at all. I will say, if you do go with Ultra, you'll get access to a lot more things you can do on your phone, and if you end up utilising all the possible features, it will be worth the money. Otherwise, if you don't, it's not worth it. If you can't see yourself utilising Goodlock, multitasking, S-Pen, DEX, or playing GPU intensive games outside of camera usage, go with the Pixel 8 Pro. I have a video comparing the Pixel 8 Pro camera to the iPhone and Samsung if you're interested (it's the S24 Ultra Camera video). My only concern with the Pixel 8 Pro is how it will age over time due to the Tensor G3.

It's pretty much the same as the Tensor G2, but I can't speak about compatibility as I don't have the 7 Pro anymore.
