This guy is amazing. At first you think he is a complete serious character, and you take him as a professor in the arts of pixel art. A couple of minutes later he's mimicking a jumping frog, then you know what you got yourself into. Absolute madlad, love this videos - subscribed.
Dear PMantis lord, thank you for your in depth analysis and appreciation of the wizardry that I share with you. As you have now joined the subscriber ranks each video I will shock and awe with the lengths Im willing to go to to mimic a frog as accurately as possible. Thanks for sticking around :)
I had to make a simple walking cycle for school. (Gamedev student, we are making a simple platformer). At firsr i didnt think much of it but now im completely hooked to pixel art and animation. These videos are great to learn more about it!
So glad you took the time to make these videos, they really are the best pixel art tutorials I've found! I've been sifting through a lot having just started getting into it with Aesprite a few weeks ago and I feel like nobody else so concisely details what each tutorial is on, how they go about it, EXACTLY how they go about it, and capture all the processes from start to finish! Thanks so much!
As a total noob to anything graphical this gives just the barebones and a process to get started. Thank you so much for providing this and no overcomplicating it!
This dude and his videos are Underrated. epicly. As a gamedeveloper myself, our art skills are prrtyy trash. This tutorial definitly helped improve it +99.
I really want to thank you sosososo much because now i really understand how to animate simple things like this!! You word it so casualy yet professional and not make it sound super confusing!!
Great tutorial! My boyfriend just got me Aseprite for my birthday. I'm so excited to use it! I used GIMP when I first tried out pixel animation art. But then a year went by and I forgot how to use it. Figured if I've got to re-learn anyway, I should try a new program 😊I love your hopping pixel frog btw, so cute! Your animation instincts are spot on.
Nice!!! Saw your comment on the donut video too so I hope your learning adventure is going well 😁 always fun to learn something new! And thank you! Acting like a frog irl helps to understand how to animate it, at least I tell myself that 😂
Hey, thanks for the sub! I am working on another animation tutorial (should be out in a month or so) which will go more into depth in animation principles :)
I'm looking to make a top down 2d action rpg with combo based combat. That smear frame is exactly what I had pictured for sword slash animations. Super helpful.
I had loads of trouble finding a place to sprite animate and now I have, this has helped me a lot with animation and the deep voice ch ange is really funny, especially when you cough😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
Typically I cringe when people say that a youtuber does not have enough subs since it seems fine, but this is incredibly high quality content for only 50k subs, this is higher quality then some million sub youtubers. Thank you for helping me and many others!
I love that u reply to ur comments it shows ur one for the community. I’m subbing rn (btw do the points in the video apply to Krita or pixilart or other programs like that)
Thanks for subbing! :D Yeah the points in the video are applicable to most software where you can animate, even if its not pixel art but 2d or 3d. It's a common work-flow for animation I think :)
@@saultoons hold on, 2 minutes after me commenting and I get a reply from the owner, when the video is over 3 months old!? You are truly amazing, I love your content and I only saw it a few minutes ago. Keep it up!
Definantly subscribing, as i do pixel animation in my spare time, this is a welcomed channel to my sub box. Very entertaining and easy to follow, which i could have used a few months back when i was doing my game design exams hahaha
I love your videos. You're super smart, explain techniques well, all the while being entertaining. I laugh so much!! Please keep making pixel art videos!!!
Dude i really respect you not only your vids are entertaining, it's very educational like bro i love it you make me learn without giving me a hard time. Love your vids -- subscribe Also thank you :D
I'm making a pixelated shooter games for my what's app events for friends and I the first serious project and decided to make it pixelated so this helped me a lot I'm still working on I it's gonna be a banger not gonna be released to public tho
@@saultoons I'm doing the smears to save time making my characters slowly having references and I think in a week or two I'll be done with the models that I'll be using if I focus well thank you for the tutorial I was getting intimidated with other people's artwork and couldn't rlly get a good tutorial that wouldn't overwhelm me.
very good tutorials well explained, efficient and with good editing besides that they make me laugh I am from Mexico and I do not speak English, I used the youtube translator and even so they are one of the best videos about pixer art that I have seen greetings
@@saultoons On the contrary, thanks to you you always help me and you facilitate me some things that I do not find well in the animations, I am starting on this and for a moment I was stuck at a point where I did not improve or have any progress but thanks to you I was able to leave and now I feel that I have improved a lot GREETINGS !!!
This help a lot since Im still new with pixel art animation My first pixel animation was a bouncy ball lel (try to adapt line animation to the pixel one)
I have a 2 questions: 1.for characters in pixel art, whats rhe best way for learning proportions and perspective? 2.Is it possible to enter pixel art with no prior art knowledge?
1 - Study realistic proportions so you know when and how you can exaggerate them. Characters in perspective is just applying those proportions to a perspective grid. There are some great tutorials on RU-vid for applying characters in perspective, I would also recommend checking out some books like Loomis Figure Drawing, Anatomy For Sculptors, which can help you get a grasp on proportions and characters in perspective. 2 - Of course, I think pixel art is probably the most accessible art form because you don't need a lot of prior knowledge to make something look good. BUT saying that, learning art fundamentals along the way will definitely help improve your pixel art, because it is just a medium at the end of the day, just like painting, or 3D, they are all mediums which use art fundamentals. Hope that could answer your questions. If you have any more, make sure you join the discord where people would be more than happy to help you out :)
Thx bro, lamento hablar en español xd. use the traductor.
Gracias por mirar mi videos :D (No Google Translate, I know BASIC Spanish???)
Thank you very much ;)
Please make similar tutorial for isometric pixel design. It's so hard for me to animate isometric character and maintain the volume proportion right. Changing angle of complex shape character or item really mess my brain.
