This is part 1 in my first PixInsight Tutorial series of videos. In this video I will take you through the steps of pre-processing and image calibration using dark frames, dark flat frames, flat frames to calibrate your light frames. I will show you how to make a master dark from your dark frames, how to make master dark flats for each filter, how to calibrate your flats for each filter and how to use your master flats and your master dark to calibrate your light frames for each filter. In the tutorial I will use a ASI294MM Pro camera and Ha, O-III and S-II filters, but the principles will apply to other scenarios. I will show you the manual steps for the entire calibration in PixInsight.

Mårten, I really appreciate your video, and have links set up for your 3 follow-up videos. For the first time, someone has provided sensible explanations of some of the necessary parameters in the integration and calibration processes. Too many other videos quickly gloss over these. I'm following your workflow as it has been a good number of years since I last did some "serious" astrophotography. The only point I would have liked clarification on is whether in the Lights calibration process needs, in the Master Flat pane, 'Separate CFA flat scaling factors' turned on for OSC frames. The popup help describes what it does, but not under what conditions it is applicable. And, as a final tribute and I hope is appropriate, your English is spot on! Many thanks for helping me get up to speed.

Thank you so much! This is my humble attempt as a beginner to help out :) I will look into your question and come back!

@@frosthastrophotography Then, Mårten, you've managed an excellent contribution for a beginner, IMHO. You're helping Ap-ers like myself who know enough to get going and be "dangerous" (a.k.a. end up with disappointing results), but don't know enough to get decent images. I'm now a subscriber to this channel, and I look forward to improving my knowledge and skills with the help of your furture contributions.

great tutorial, do you have any videos in conjunction with stacking in terms of what needs to be stacked and how in terms of the sequence (mean than calibration frames, LRGB plus narrowband ) and now I am asking for use of mono dedicated astro camera of course.. thanks in advance!

Your videos have good content, but man... this could have been trimmed down to like 5-10 mins while conveying the exact same information.
