I was the customer. Driver was female, accompanied by a man. I totally understand that. I paid for my food and tipped her. That’s when her companion’s composure does a 180 degree turn and threatens to add me to the “Do Not Deliver” list if I don’t tip him as well. “Then add me to it,” I replied and shut my door. (I was moving out at the end of the month anyway.)
@@stanford-nf4jk What the actual fuck were they thinking? For trying to muscle in a few more dollars they were going to cost the pizza place a lot of money and reputation.
Richard Davis is the name of the man who invented modern soft body armor. In the late '60s he owned a pizza place in Detroit and was delivering the pizzas. He went to an address where his deliverer had been robbed at gunpoint previously, and he had a bad feeling about it. Two men came out with guns and shot at him---but he shot back and hit them both. He didn't realize he'd been shot until a responding police officer noticed he was bleeding; turns out they hit him twice. After that Davis started looking into how to make effective body armor and he founded the Second Chance company to produce Kevlar vests. That company had more Police Officer Saves than any other. Second Chance was a game changer in the industry.
My worst so far was probably the time I drove to this house almost 2 miles out of town. Walked up to the house and as I'm coming up their driveway, through the windows I can see a group of maybe 3 or 4 people hurrying between rooms and turning out the lights in all but one room in the house. By the time I got to the door everyone was out of sight. Nobody answered when I knocked several times, nobody answered their phone. Got someone at the pizza place to call them for me, and apparently they finally answer... but when I hear back, it turns out that whoever was in the house was FREAKING OUT about "some guy's car that just parked in their driveway" and that they "don't know if it's the delivery driver or not." Eventually ended up having to just take the pizza back to the store, because nobody ever answered the door even after hearing directly from the pizza place that yes, their driver was at the door waiting for them right now. We figure they were probably paranoid meth-heads who'd gone too long without any sleep.
Never had a weird moment delivering. Thankful when I hear these stories. I did have a never enter the home/apartment policy though mine not the pizza places. Turned coustomers down every time no matter if it was pouring rain or below freezing.
I had one that sounded like an 80's softcore video but with a bad twist. Did a delivery to a neighborhood that I was familiar with cause I had a friend that lived nearby that I used to go see a lot as a kid. I pull up to the house, knock on the door and a 14 yr old girl with wet hair and only wearing a towel answers the door. We both start blushing as I hand her the order. Gave me a decent tip.
I was 16 with my first car and got hired for dominos and first night a couple high on meth ordered and forgot about it and when I pulled in with my (crown Vic) immediately got met with a double barrel shotgun . His girl came out and took it away . And kicker they ordered with cash and didn’t have money for it . I was not dying over 13 dollars worth of pizza
I ordered a pizza once and the guy who turned up stank so bad of weed I shut the door in his face as I nearly suffocated on he fumes family called me an ambulance found out that night I am highly allergic to weed my throat swelled up to the size of a penny spent the night in hospital with tubes in my nose.
I've thought about this time and time again. If you have enough to be stable as a mig-low class person but have millions, save whatever you need but be kind and gracious to those who don't have a lot. If I won the lottery, one thing I would do is tip my delivery person fairly.
I was adopted and raised Jewish I went over to visit my foster sister and see how her and my niece and nephew are doing and when I walked in the house her boyfriend said hang on I got to show you something he went in the bedroom and came out in a complete klu Klux Klan uniform I swear about s*** my pants
The person INSISTING we deliver to her down in a valley in an ice storm.... whenever the strip joint called....the time we were set up for a robbery (I was the one that took the pizza out for delivery). But the favorite in my store was the guy that wasn't nude, but in his underwear EVERY time he had a pizza delivered. Bad enough for me, but the guys REALLY hated it!
So... I assume the guy in the last story means Pennsylvania Dutch, not Dutch Dutch, seeing as I can't imagine someone in Europe has to give a shit about whether or not they get a tip.
