PL/US[part 2] valve adjustment Yamaha XVZ 1300 Royal Star Venture 2003 90890-04105 how to use wrench 

I have had three Yamaha ventures. I’ve had Kawasaki, 1973 Z1 903cc.. They all take the same valve shims… keep a record of the size of the gap/clearance. for each cylinder. If possible, record the numbers on the shim for each valve. You may run into A situation where you can swap two shims between two different valve adjustments, because one may be a bit tight, but acceptable, and one may be a bit loose, but acceptable. And you can trade shims on those particular valves to bring the clearance more in line for two valves.. always install the shims with the writing, facing the engine/valve. If you install the shim with the etched numbers on top, the cam will wear the numbers off and you will have to get the measurement/thickness by measuring it with a micrometer if the numbers are worn off , Because the numbers were facing the cam rather than facing down. always adjust your valves or check your valve adjustment with the engine cold. If you make any valve clearance changes, you must resynchronized the carburetors…. removing the spark plugs, makes it much easier to turn the crank shaft, in order to rotate the camshafts.. always make sure you blow the dirt away from the spark plugs & valve covet before removing unscrewing plugs & balve cover from the head to keep dirt and grit from falling into the cylinder through the spark plug hole.. Don’t forget to put something like a rolled up, paper towel into the spark plug hole to keep things from falling in there with the spark plugs out Never never put the old spark plugs in when you’re done. They are cheap, buy new ones.. if you’re going to go to all this trouble, put new spark plugs in and only use ND or NGK spark plugs.. never use champion, spark plugs in anything you ever own unless there is no other spark plug available for something like your weed whacker or your lawnmower. They are not 100% reliable after the first heat cycle. Don’t buy your spark plugs on eBay. eBay is completely polluted with counterfeit, spark plugs sellers, especially NGK… Buy NGK spark plugs at any motorcycle dealer, advance auto parts stocks NGK spark plugs also. If they don’t have them now, they will have them for you tomorrow...
