---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I show in this video one way to approach a plain design cover for a motorcycle seat in the case of not having a sewing machine.
To get a 'non-sewing cover' I have taken advantage of stretchy side of vinyl material. The most difficult part is on front part of the cover because of its 'rounded convex shape'. I would have rather did a 'sewn insert' on this front portion as it comes in the original design. But, for purpose of the video I overlooked this option.
To get this difficult contour it was necessary stretch the vinyl from 6 to 8 cm on this side and the same on left end.
The first important key is stretch the material lengthwise and attach with glue both centers front and rear end. Afterwards, it would be easier to trim, paste glue and handle the sides in order to get the desired shape.
Before this process it would be advisable to put the seat under the sunrays for a while. The material turns to be more pliable. On the contrary the use of a 'hair dryer' is also useful. Nevertheless, it was not necessary because it was stretched just enough to give the shape. I 'used' the 'hair dryer' just to consider the option.
The yellow glue adheres very strong, and it is not necessary the use of staples.
Just, use staples and no glue at all in case of having a 'pneumatic stapler'.
I hope you find this information useful!
Cesar

There's a big gap between you removing the foam and starting the covering. What happens in between? why is the foam a different colour? Youve definately missed out some of this process..
@Cechaflo
@Cechaflo 2 года назад
In fact, the main point of this video is to show how to vinyl-wrap in a plain way the motorcycle seat. The grey foam is put over to erase some irregularities on the foam surface. If the seat is in good condition it will not be necessary. There is a related video that shows this car headliner material (5 mm thick foam backed fabric) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Zhl7oQaxXII.html

WOW… A video without BS or music. How refreshing…I don’t know what country this video was made in, but that adhesive is not available here in the United States. It is not barge glue, or 3M, or DAP weldwood ..I’ve never seen Adhesive act like that .. it grips, it seems to be dry, and there is no mess that gets dragged onto the outside surface of the cover as his hands work with both sides of the cover touching the glue then touching the surface that will show, and no mess, no glue transfer…Does anybody know the brand name of that adhesive? Not a guess, the actual name?
@Cechaflo
@Cechaflo 3 года назад
I bought this glue from a local supplier here in Mexico where I am located. In the USA you could find similar products, such as: Petronio's contact cement (brushable), Dap Weldwood, Landau top&trim adhesive (sprayable and brushable)

@Cechaflo
@Cechaflo 3 года назад
It is not necessary to cover/spread with glue the top side of the seat. Usullay, that is how the covers come from factory. What is important is the fastening of vinyl edges all around to the frame edge. It could be by using 'yellow glue' or directly staples. Both ways work out. I have shown both options.

Hola maestro una cosa en el trabajo me dicen k un siento como éste lo tengo k hacer en 20 min eso es normal?
@Cechaflo
@Cechaflo 3 года назад

hi every one i ll cover my seats 4th time after that video on my motorbike (cats you know) i use pttex 60 secs. on leather its a nice glue before sewing its perfect for jackets and glowes. I use same metal paper attachments,clips bcs. leather or vinyl was very slidy when you connect tops to each other so you can go wrong when you dont attach nicely. What if, if you dont find an air staple machine you ll use a heavyduty non air staple machine it ll do your work but a bit hard way. Glue its the best question i dont use glue bec. my seat were 2 pieces frnt rear so 2 3 staples frnt and back then i cover left and right and i staple to the best directions sometimes i cut and staple its hard to do it takes 1 an hour to do that of course on vinyl (fake leather). What is the difference of vinyl and leather 1st price 2nd after some hours leather takes the rain into becs. you know the real laether have got little pores, holes like our skin, vinyl is strency pylastic based patterned material but its waterproof thank you if i help and sorry its too long :))

@@Cechaflo İ need to ask gently, you dont want to use your left hand first finger. Am i true, if i am true i thank you so much because its a basic issue of sewing with 1245. İ am closer to closer to do not sew my fingers. It is hard to do when sewing the details. Cross the fingers...

I do not remember which motorbike this seat is, sorry. I only bought it from a junkyard to make the tutorial. No problem if the foam base is loose, wrapping procedures are similar. This is another seat I followed the same method: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Zhl7oQaxXII.html

It is a stretchy 'automotive vinyl' . The glue is a brushable/spreadable one: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-o2xeezdF8Ss.html

Sometimes videos without talking are so much more informative, then listening to the nonsense of a bunch of useless chatter, although some people may not know what tools are involved, I might suggest a simple before list, then go about your task, I do custom work as well, and I love the pink clothes pin.

The 'solvent based yellow glue' is a traditional adhesive or contact cement used in car upholstery and furniture. It is the same glue used to stick formica as shown in the video about Upholstery Glues: ✅ ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-o2xeezdF8Ss.html

At MotorcycleUpholstery dot com. we either replace the foam or shave the seat foam to the accommodate the height of the person, then add Luimoto gold gel, then add a Luimoto seat cover then ship the seat back to the customer.
