This isn’t clickbait compared to 95% of RU-vid clickbait videos. An engine failure in this situation doesn’t mean it just stopped and somehow tore a whole in the engine cowling. Parts of the engine tore that hole in the cowling, aka can be called an engine explosion. Just because there isn’t fire doesn’t mean it can’t be called that. I personally wouldn’t call it an engine explosion but people have called much littler failures explosions too. It’s not a big deal especially compared to other aviation click baiters. Also some periods would help me understand your statement better.

With the exception of a Burst Disk, a Fan Blade Out is about as close to "Jet Engine Blows Up" as you can get. That would have been a wild ride for everyone as that PW4000 spun down.

Man, that plane taking off on the last bit sure didn't have a clean runway. Also, that engine failure at the start will probably be investigated as it involved a puncture / shredding of the Kevlar bag / cage. This was partially put into place so Boeing could upgrade to titanium blades. It clearly isn't protecting as intended as we have seen several of these incidents. At this rate, it's only a matter of time before a wing shred or fuselage impact occurs. Flinging one of these through the passenger area or worse, through the fuel tanks / lines.

It literally exploded. Maybe not the pure scientific definition, but from an English language perspective it did. Not only that gas turbines are constantly exploding. That’s how they work. So it’s true either way.

The engine cowl came open….. it is just an aerodynamic cover, has nothing to do with the operation of the engine.

Also, two blades broke off and flew out. It made the engine run much smoother. It also punctured the fuselage, which helped with cabin cooling.

The cowling flew open because one or more fan blades exploded and tore into the cowling, then continued on and peppered the pressurized plane with shrapnel. This is exactly how turbofan engines explode.

The fan blades were not contained and violently erupted from the cowling and impacted the hull. It is considered an explosion.

Well, it all started in fifth grade. I pushed the dog down the stairs and blamed it on my sister. Then I developed weird lumps on my nipples. Turns out it wasn't cancer. Phew. Then on day at school a kid named Geoff made fun of me.... That was where things got weird. A really big girl left notes in my locker and basics talked me. Then my dog got hit by a car.
