A plane in Russia crushed on 2011 wiping out a ice hockey team, because they forgot to take the parking brakes off. Small jet crashed in Connecticut in 2021 for the same reason. A couple and two pilots died.
This is actually due to the angle of the gate in chicago, it's a downward slope and the deicing fluid pools where the pushback tug parks, even if there's just a bit under the tires the fluid is so slick the tires just spin
@@thomasjsanford4229 my airline considers them mainline aircraft, for example a E-175 is considered a Delta connection aircraft (delta’s designation for a regional aircraft) the A320 is not a regional aircraft and does not bear the connection livery on their aircraft. Yes the plane can operate in regional airports and does so frequently but it still holds mainline designation at least by Delta and United, the two airlines I have worked with in the past. I’m willing to bet almost every other carrier classifies their A320’s the same way
@@dallasyap3064 It is banned especially in pushback. Due to the fact that there was a fatal plan crash caused by the reverse thrusters not closing all the way due to ice forming on them when they opened. (it was already banned at the time. The pilots just ignored the regulation.)
@@lds2795irc it's also banned because it can cause foreign debris to enter the turbine and damage the fan blades. Also, propeller driven aircraft are still allowed to use reverse thrust for taxiing. It's only jets that have the restriction.
I will never understand how the plane can't be moved on its wheels but it can move and fly on it's own. Amazing peace of technology, i just love planes and flying!
I actually worked on an older model of these for midway airport in Chicago. It had a Chevy 359 small block in it. It also had no can it was like a convertible. The whole thing was made of welded steel plates and had car seats bolted down. Needles to say it was a crazy test drive up and down Archer avenue.
@@BrodieOsome Do you have any expirence in flying at least in sim? And do you know how it easy to make a small mistake in airplane when you need to control alot of things at the same time. There is alot of things that can distract you. Bad pilot is not the one who make mistakes, we all make them, bad one is the one that can't learn on them. If i would be on that plane, i would definitely check parking brake in case me or other pilot forget to release them. If you already have been in some sort of the situation next time you will know what to do, and not like these guys that continue to struggle.
That's why some tugs use the plane's own weight to create friction by lifting the front nose off the ground a bit rather than just poking it forward at the end of a pole.
This is the captain, all passengers disembark and help put the the airplane on the runway thank you. The faster you guys do it the fastest we get on our way
I work at the airport, apart from the fact that even with a maximum load it can be towed, the towing vehicle is incorrect because there is another much larger vehicle that lifts the front tires off the ground
