I'm more and more impressed with your Screwdriver and Dalek collection with every video I've watched and I've now watched quite a few. I have a few questions. 1) How many 5 inch Daleks do you have? 2).If I were to drop by your home (of wherever you keep your collection), would I find your Dakejs grouped in one massive army or do you group them together as you do in your videos (have a Power group, an Evil group, a Genesis group, a Master Plan group, etc.) 3) When you made the following videos, The Master Plan, Power, Chase, Evil videos, were all (or at least most) of the Daleks in each video unique to that video or were some of your Daleks used in multiple videos? For example, did some of the Daleks that appeared in your Chase collection video use some of the same Daleks that you used to make some of your other videos, such as your Master Plan collection video, or your Power of the Daleks video, or your Evil of the Daleks video? Even if you do share some between videos, you still must have a big army of Type 3 silver with blue globe drones. In this video alone you have 9 gray drones (ignoring the fact that 3 are painted slightly different). I was even impressed with the number of silver with blue dome drones you have. Awesome collection, Too bad I live in the USA where the prices are much higher and the supply is considerably less ,

I think this is one of those rare Dalek stories where I have every variant CO has done, as well as the custom Dalek creations cutter, in the same way the Eighth Doctor is the one and only Doctor where I've got every variant, including the Big Finish online exclusive. It's really cool that these videos not only show off the figures but refer to the prop numbers and divulge a bit of the history. And I love the extending sucker arm using aluminium tubing, that's incredibly effective!

After scrolling through photos of "History of the Dalek" Sets #7 - #16, I was shocked by all the various grey Dalek drones. I then started to wonder why someone hadn't made a "Fifty Shades of Grey" video starring The Daleks!! (One can't argue the fact that their behavior does seem to fit in with parts of the BDS&M sub-culture and it would provide another means to torture humans! :)) (I know this post is long, but I believe this post will be of interest to many.) I just started collecting Daleks in Nov 2023. By mid-Jan 2024, I had acquired History of The Daleks Sets #1 - #6 and the 2006 3-pack Dalek Set #2 (Gold "Day" Supreme, Invasion Earth Saucer Commander, and a 2nd "Evil" Black-dome drone). So about 3 weeks ago, I shifted focus to Daleks Type 4 thru 8 (Genesis of the Daleks thru Remembrance of the Daleks). Having only the Gold "Day" Supreme, I quickly added Necros & Type 2 Imperials. I knew I needed some Renegades next and I bought History Set #15 (which had a light gray drone and the glossy, black-silver Supreme). But as I started looking more closely at the various photos of the Daleks from History of the Daleks Sets #7 - #12 along with all the other sets involving the Third Doctor, the Fourth Doctor, "Remembrance", "Revelation", "Coal Hill School", "Destiny", etc), I became confused by the sheer number of shades of grey. Furthermore, these shades of grey seemed to differ from a 2006 set to a 2013 set to a 2022 set. (I later learned that the manufacture does this on purpose so a later set doesn't make a previous set irrelevant.) Again, I revisit the questions, are there really "50 some shades of gray (maybe not 50 but at least 10 or 12 different shades) or do they just appear different due to things like "lighting conditions", "different types of filters used", "digital processing", etc.) In one film, I was shocked to see what I first thought was a black dalek, but as the lighting got brighter, I could see it was actually "gunmetal gray".) While I see a lot of different shades of grey when I compare Daleks of different "sets" (such as a Destiny of the Daleks" set vs a "Day of the Daleks" set) or different versions (such as 2006 version of Destiny vs 2022 version of Destiny), I don't normally see that much of a difference between photos taken by different people provided they are photographing the exact same "set" and "version". Unfortunately, I live in the USA. I don't have any close acquaintances that collect Daleks, so I almost always have to go by photos until I actually own the Dalek. Although my research was making process and I could verify that there were actual differences in the color of the paint used in many of these sets, there were a couple of issues that still bothered me. QUESTION #1) Almost all of the photos of the Destiny Daleks (especially the 2022 History sets) appear to me as greenish gray in color, yet I've yet to hear anybody use the word "green" or "greenish" to refer to their color and this includes websites such as mephitsu.com and myshinytoyrobots, which have many greenish-gray photos. I will say this. While both these websites have great photos of various Dalek sets, they have been known to get the verbal description wrong. Take the 2022 version of History of the Daleks Set #4 (Master Plan), which is unpopular due to the white (unpainted) midsection. Both websites were quick to point out that they weren't the proper medium grey color of earlier versions, however, one of these sites called the mid-section light grey and the other called it silver. It is definitely white/unpainted to me, and thank you to the creator of this video who happened to agree with me in his "Master Plan" collection video. Thank you! While these guys (mephitsu and my shinytoyrobots) are able to take and post some very good photos, it doesn't mean they aren't color blind. QUESTION #2) The other question that still bothers me is this one. The drones in Day of the Daleks and Genesis of the Daleks suppose to be a dark gunmetal grey color. If you look at the Day Drone (History Set #7) and Genesis Drones (History Set #8), they definitely look dark, gunmetal grey. However, the photos of earlier sets, such as the 2006 3 Dalek Collector's Set #1, show a Genesis Drone that is a lighter, more conventional grey (that I'd call a bluish grey color.) I recently bought a used Dalek that came from this 2006 set. Now having the luxury to see this Dalek in person (and not being at the mercy of the photographer), I can definitely say it is not the same color as the gunmetal grey Daleks that I've seen on TV or the gunmetal grey drones that appear in the photos of History of the Daleks Set 7 and 11. I'd definitely call this a medium gray (perhaps a bit on the dark side). Although it doesn't appear to be quite the bluish grey color that appears in many photos, it definitely has some blue in it and it did match the photo that I saw prior to purchasing it. (More about this in the follow up post).

I want to give a SPECIAL THANKS to "MR. SAME SONIC DIFFERENT CASE" for making this excellent video. While I enjoyed the first 3/4 of this video immensely, I almost didn't watch the last 25% of the video (aka the bonus feature) and that would have been a tragedy. Let me explain. If you read my prior post, you will see that I've been struggling to get a grip on the various shades of grey Dalek casings. Having spent hours and hours researching the matter, I made some progress, but one question in particular was still bothering me. Fortunately, Mr. Same Sonic was able to clear up the entire mystery for me in the last part of the above video so make sure you watch it!!! He does confirm there are at least 2 different shades of grey for the Day of the Daleks, "Planet of the Daleks", and "Genesis of the Daleks" Daleks. While most people want to say that the Daleks in all 3 of these different Series are a "dark gunmetal grey", he points out that the BBC did have a few Daleks that were a lighter, more-bluish shade of grey. This shade of grey was called "Battleship Grey"--a perfect description of that color of grey. THANKS AGAIN for clearing up this mystery for me and thanks so much for adding that extra bit to the end of your video. I only hope other people found the info as useful as I did.

PS. Hopefully, you will find time to make a video showing your "Destiny of the Dalek" Collection. (You do have one, right?? just kidding.). I would like to get down to the bottom of my final mystery involving the so-called "grey" drones. I've still not been able to see any of the Character Options 5 inch versions of these Daleks in person. From the photos I've seen of the 2022 version of History of the Daleks Set #12 (Destiny of the Daleks"), these Daleks have a greenish-gray color. (Whereas I saw a "bluish hue" in the "Battleship Grey drones" used in "Planet of the Daleks", I see a "greenish hue" in these Destiny drones. I'm curious if others, who have the luxury of seeing these Dalek models in person, see the same or similar greenish hues. Perhaps, it is due to the fact that the "Planet Drones" were darker and closer to gunmetal grey that make them appear a bit more blue whereas the Destiny drones tend to appear green because they are a lighter Grey. (A valid question?) A couple of weeks ago, I did see some photos of an earlier Destiny set (unsure if it was 2011 or 2013) and this set appeared to be less "green" than the 2022 version. It was more akin to the light grey found in History Set #15 (Remembrance of the Daleks Renegade Drone). It might have even been a bit more a kin to "light blue" than "light green". Unfortunately, I didn't save that photo and I'm just trying to remember it the best I can. In the meantime, if anybody does have the 2022 Set #12, I'd like your opinion on the color. If you have an earlier version of the Destiny set, I'd like to hear from you, but please state the year/version along with your opinions on the color. We all must keep in mind that colors are relative. Some people are more sensitive to colors (or certain colors) and one person's definition of green may be different than someone else's.

19:43 the only gun metal Shawcraft props were Dalek One-5 & Dalek Seven-2. Only the first 2 Goons were repainted gun metal grey & after that they were all painted in the same "lighter battleship grey" as Dalek Six-7. They all remained this way into Genesis as not all Goons were used in Death to The Daleks, so some were still in their Planet grey, u can tell by the grey ball joints & 1 even kept it's grey plunger arm.
