I think the reason why Silly showed them all the bad things that happened to them, like Larry's family not having him around or Airplane Dad seeing his airplane destroyed, was to make them feel like they want to be at a better place.

Honestly I cried, Sad Larry was finally happy after so many years, Harry was handsome again and could become a butcher again, the Tall Boys finally became Tall Men, Airplane Dad got a new Plane, everyone got a happy ending, even Silly who finally after eons had a family to celebrate his last birthday, such a wonderful story

What’s tragic is that even though Larry finally achieved happiness, people still lash out at him for little to no reason. His smile when the others get mad feels like he’s just barely about to crack from the newfound pressure he’s in. This poor guy can’t ever catch a break even in the best possible ending.

You know what? I just realised that when Sad Larry was comforting Mr Silly, he wasn't wallowing in sadness like usual, nor cowering in fear. He was glad to be here for his birthday, he said it himself. And perhaps that was what Mr Silly truly wanted: both to be understood (as Larry faced similar hardships and shows support) and to make someone sad happy.
