In this epic stage of the Planet Earth Motorcycle Expedition, we embark on an unforgettable adventure through the Eternal City: Rome! Aboard the Black Panther, our adventurous motorcycle, we explored the wonders of the Vatican, witnessed Pope Francis' blessing and marveled at the grandeur of St. Peter's Basilica.
Diving into Faith at the Vatican:
Papal Audience: Emotion took over as we awaited the arrival of Pope Francis in St. Peter's Square. Witnessing the faith and devotion of the thousands of faithful gathered together was a unique experience.
St. Peter's Basilica: We admire the grandeur of St. Peter's Basilica, a masterpiece of Renaissance architecture. Impressed by its colossal dimensions (136 meters long and 45 meters high), we were enchanted by the wealth of details in every corner.
Michelangelo's Pietà: A moving work of art, protected by armored glass after a vandal attack in the 1970s. The Pietà touched us deeply with its beauty and symbolism.
Rome: An Open Air Museum:
Panoramic Terrace: We go up to a terrace with spectacular views of the city, where we appreciate the grandeur of Rome and its historical monuments. The Monument to Vítor Emanuel II, with its imposing white facade, stood out in the urban landscape.
Trevi Fountain: A must-see in Rome! We threw our coins into the famous fountain, casting a wish for the future. The beauty and grandeur of the Trevi Fountain left us amazed.
Pantheon: We entered the Pantheon, an ancient Roman temple that impressed us with its colossal dome and central oculus. The serene atmosphere and rich history of the place transported us to another time.

Works of Art: In addition to the Pietà, we admire several Renaissance and Baroque works of art in St. Peter's Basilica, such as Raphael's "Transfiguration" and Bernini's "Baldachino".
Roman Ruins: From the panoramic terrace, we were able to observe several Roman ruins spread across the city, such as the Colosseum, the Roman Forum and the Palatine Hill.
Italian Gastronomy: We sample delicious Italian cuisine in traditional restaurants, enjoying fresh pasta, crispy pizzas and local wines.
