I did the same with my finger. I tore the nail off about 2 months ago. I let it go for a few days. I finally got an x-ray, and I splintered the bone in my finger. Be safe. God bless, and I know your dad is looking down on you from heaven, smiling. He's missed very much. ✝️ 🙏
You were my dad's favorite RU-vid channel. He told me the whole story of how this cabin came to be. He passed away almost two months ago. I'm glad to have the memory of talking about how you and your dad worked together to make this home.
@@bruceasans6608 I watch Shawn. I enjoy him, but I can't compare the two because this guy is uncomparible. His work here is just next level, again, just my opinion, though.
Very nice job. It's a shame that this build is coming to an end. I re-watched the whole thing again a little while back. Your DAD would be very proud of it. As well as the Man you have turned out to be. I'm very happy that you have let me be a part of it. Thank you.
You knocked it out of the park with your design and execution of the front steps. I'm in awe of your abilities. The stones are beautiful!!! Prayers for a quick recovery. Thank you for taking us along on your continuing journey!
Probably the coolest thing I've seen since your last video. I absolutely love this cabin, and everything around it, including the tractor. Thanks for the update!
So so thankful that your finger injury wasn't more serious; truly, God was with you being out there alone. FANTASTIC and impressive workmanship as per usual!!! Abundant blessings to you and your family 💖🙏
Outstanding! The finished product is breathtaking. You are such a multi-talented craftsman and artist, brother. Thank you for sharing your gifts with the world
When I think you can't possibly impress me anymore! Boom, you go and do it again. Geez, man, oh man, does that look impressive. I hope your finger is healing. As always, thanks for sharing.
I like the way you think...I have long told the person that taught me to craft with logs that even a log box could be my dream, it just requires thinking outside of it. These steps are a perfect example of adding something to your box that nobody else has.👏
just started watching a few minutes in but I have to say I love hearing the tractor come around the corner.... reminds me of my childhood when my dad would work the field and drive up to the house for his lunch ❤
So good to see you again my friend. My wife & I just moved from our home in Livingston,Montana to Truth or Consequences,New Mexico. but we always look to see if you have a new episode out for us to watch & learn from. Even at the young age of 77, with an open mind, who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks. Between you,Outsider, & Shawn James from "My Self Reliance" I have learned so many new ideas from both of you & Shawn. My wife & I really loved the episodes where you made the distressed copper cabinet door faces, & how you carved the sinks from a solid rock. My friend, you totally amaze us with your ingenuity. Well, I'm starting to ramble on, so I'll close for now with this. Again, it is so good to have you back again. We have watched your channel since you & your father first stared setting the foundation boulders for this gorgeous build of the cabin. So for now, Be Safe, Be Well, & God Bless you, your wife,& your daughter. Sincerely, the old Montana cowboy & my wife Rae An & Frank Scherping❤😊❤
That's the stupidest saying "can't teach an old dog new tricks" because we are supreme beings NOT dogs and I for one do NOT do tricks ... what are you in a circus?
This channel has the best built log cabin in the 'Net, owing to you and your father's bent on excellence like these steps, the dormers and the rest of this exceptional build. Maybe an extension at the back for one more room, relocation of the bathroom and small a tool room may extend our delight in your future episodes; or an underground cellar!
I was perplexed about 1/2 way through the boulder cuts then the puzzle took shape. What a wonderful idea and aesthetically the stairs look awesome. Mike Rowe would be proud of you and this Dirty Job! Love from the Philippines! ♥
Your cabin is absolutely beautiful…. And your new stairs are a work of art! You are so talented and gifted in your design and execution. You must be very pleased with this cabin. 😊😊
When you said you wanted something different for the steps, I was like, yay, more creativity and uniqueness for this special place. They look awesome. With love and respect from South Carolina 💗
We are so proud of you and how your father brought you up, will be praying for your wife nd kid. The way you guys worked looks like my husband when he was able to worked as a constructor. He praises your patience and the way you spoke to your father with respect and love, caring where he was always at the site. Keep up bringing new ideas
You are absolutely the truth. I've learned a lot watching your channel. I would like to send my respect and condolences. Blessings to your family! Thank you for your channel Sir!
Wow your whole cabin is just amazing . I have watched you build everything and couldn’t wait until the next videos! Sorry you hurt yourself and definitely was painful. The stairs are really stunning I just love all the colors in the Borders. Thank you for sharing and pray all heals fast; 🇺🇸❤️🙏🏻
Absolutely beautiful work and finish! May I suggest you get some clear silicone caulking in all the cuts in the stone, particularly the one at the back of step 2 (as you walk up - the second lowest). If you do not I fear come winter the ice that forms in there will split your rock. I really like how you left the rest of the rock(s) in the front too.
A true professional, every step, every action of yours shows that you are meticulous, skillful, have an extremely flexible and sharp mind. I admire you very much.
You have old ways about you in such a young body & you have your father's spirit & tenacious work ethic to finish what you two started, i could feel your pain when you trapped your finger😂 man that must have hurt for sure. I love all that you do on this channel & look forward to the peace it brings me seeing this beautiful log cabin in all of mother nature's grace. God bless you and heal well ❤🙏
They are absolutely stunning my friend, sorry about the finger nail, I have never seen so much time cutting into massive boulders to set steps on, just an insane process, Then drilling into the stone, setting the rods to hold the timbers in place, you are on another level my friend, all the best to you and your family, our blessings to your wife, be well friend.
You are a channel our whole family enjoys to watch. We are canning potatoes and watching your cabin build series helps pass the time peeling potatoes together. My son dreams of building a cabin similar to yours. It's been so much fun watching it come together. We have watched some of the videos more than once 😊
Your stairs look great. I have seen a similar stair construction in a craftsman style house out east. That one had a massive bolder that stuck out of the ground right in front of where the porch was built, and they carved the steps into it and capped them with wood to match the porch.
Beautiful work on your steps. I really like the contrast of the wood and the stone, and it fits wonderfully with your cabin. As a retired Air Force aircraft maintainer, I've got to say I feel your pain. All you can do is wrap it up and continue with the job. Looking forward to your next project.
Outsider you did yourself proud again!! Sr. Outsider was impressed as well for sure! The steps are absolutely perfect for the cabin!. Your perception on these things is outrageous. The logs, the pennies, the copper, the stone sink, the loft rail, those beautiful front steps, the head and foot boards........need I go on!!!! If I were a bit younger I might be inclined to build a log cabin as well. Stay well be safe and God Bless my friend!! Looking forward to whatever you plan for the next video.
Wow! Your craftsmanship is incredible. The stairs are beautiful. Can’t wait to see the railing. I am so sorry about your poor finger. Prayers for quick healing and minimal pain.
I'm sure your Dad is looking down and talking you up big time to the rest in heaven. I been watching since you laid the boulders for the foundation. I always look forward to your videos, being a wood butcher myself I sure do admire your craftsmanship and thinking outside the box. The stairs look fantastic keep up the great work.
Thank you for another inspirational and creative video displaying your incredible talents and patience in making those amazing steps! Your willingness in sharing those abilities, with us, is a testament to your skills, knowledge, and confidence. Truly a gift!
You really had me going there, running the blade and grinder without water. But I’ve learned to trust in your skill levels, producing magical results. Wasn’t disappointed!
Ouch!!! Sorry about your finger. Glad you were all finished when it happened. The stairs are beautiful. Such a unique and fantastic way to build them. Incredible character for your cabin.
I'm in love with your steps! ❤ What a creative idea as well as talented individual you are.👏 What a legacy your leaving your daughter and how proud your parents are. God Bless. Cannot wait to see whats next!!!
You are such an inspiration!. I once accidentily cut a piece of the seat and a leg off an antique chair, trying to cut a small 2 x 4 for my fort. My dad warned me to NEVER touch a saw again and I am 71 now and I have never damaged any more wood.
Those steps are awesome and one of a kind! They will last for 100 years or more. You have great talent an doing things different and unique. Been watching you for a long time, your dad is looking down on you and is very proud! God Bless you and your family.
Your creativity is amazing and your ability to execute is too! I also appreciate the great quality of your video work. A big thank you for sharing your journey. Hoping your finger is a quick and complete heal.
I've enjoyed binge-watching your episodes. Wonderful craftsmanship! I see others have pointed out the possible "problem" with the bottom stones of your front steps. I look forward to seeing your solution! Two things you might want to consider for the cabin's interior: 1. I think it would be cool to build a bar that folds down to the wall opposite your kitchen, then include a bar stools. That way you'd could unfold the bar and use it for additional countertop space or a quick place to eat your morning meal. 2. Get rid of the sofa in the loft. You could just as easily have a fold out bed from the wall, and then have it be supported with shelves (some could have cabinet doors) below. After all, if you plan to stay overnight you'll need some place to store your clothes and any change of bedding, correct? Of course, you could always add plastic containers on rollers beneath the bed as a place to store things like that as well. Truly an outstanding build. I know you've made your father proud.
I've just found your channel and I would like to say that I do like your cabin your cabin looks really nice inside. I like the pine work the woodwork. Have a great day!
Your craftsmanship skills seem to have no limits and are enhanced by your artistic vision. Everything you do is a work of art and this cabin is testament to that. I can almost see your Dads huge smile and the twinkle in his eye as he admires the work you’ve done and believe he is pleased to see you further develop your skills. The steps are beautiful, both elegant and rustic combined and your wife will hopefully be able to easily maneuver them. Are you thinking of adding a railing of some type on one side to give her more stability? Your work is awesome and shows what a determined man can accomplish. Please be careful, don’t want any injuries to keep you and your family from enjoying your creation. May you be blessed with many years of good health to spend and enjoy at your cabin.
@theoutsider sorry for your finger getting hurt! The craftsmanship into your deck and stairs alone are remarkable! Your Father is smiling down on you and keeping you safe, your injury could have been worse, but I think it was Devine intervention. God bless you and your family! ❤I can’t wait to finish watching the rest… I am getting caught up after doing my own yard work and tending to my critters!! (Feral cat colony) that I love and care for. No worries.. one more boy needs to get to the NCFF rescue to get fixed and returned!
I have to say those steps are truly clever and beautiful. You never disappoint when you design and build something for the cabin. Sorry to hear that you injured your finger. Thanks for another amazing video of your fine work. Peace till next time.
Glad you weren't hurt worse. Excellent idea for rock and wood steps. Love the stone, so pretty when you cut into and reveal the striations. Best wishes to you and your family.
What a labor of love and perseverance ! The colors and patterns in the stone are gorgeous...another unique aspect of your cabin . Thank you for sharing ! Wishing you and yours good health , peace and much JOY !
Beautiful job as usual. You definitely need an outdoor utility shower! Just as an reminder (and you may have already done this) make sure you sand any sharp pieces of granite. May God, in His infinite mercy and compassion, continue to bless you this day - and all your days. Thank you for another great video.
Great job Mr. Outsider. I love the look of the stairs, a true craftmanship and creativity. May the Lord God Blessed and Keep you and your Family safe always!
Amazing vision for these steps! I am so glad you didn't loose the finger, I think we all felt the pain just watching it happen. Steps are so very beautiful and perfect for the cabin. Be well, see you in the next edition.
I wait anxiously for every new video!! I try to comment on each one because they are so inspiring in their own specific way! This idea just blew me away. Never would have dreamed of slicing flat surfaces out of boulders. Beautiful job. I would like to see some sort of handrail but I know you have thought of everything. We watch from hot, humid South Texas. Blessings to you and fine family! Joe & Hilda White
Exceptionally hard work to accomplish your stunning design. Slicing into the stone uncovered beautiful colouring within. The finished product is so unique just like the rest of your cabin. Take care of you & your precious family. God bless you all.
Everything you are building on this property is so incredibly beautiful and meant to last. You've got all my admiration. Keep on sharing your videos. Thank you so much.
Your cabin while being very well built is matched by some others but those steps are brilliant, one of a kind, lots of hard work but absolutely worth it. Hopeing that your nail heals without complications. Enjoyed the Jackery presentation,it looks like a winner
The comments below say it all. Loved the way you pulled and pushed the rocks both for the porch and steps. Absolutely incredible. God Bless you and your family.
