You're welcome!! I hope they continue to help. Also if you shower in the morning, it might be best to stretch after you shower because the warm water will help loosen up the muscles before you stretch. Good luck!!
Hello found your video helpful as I am a left foot Plantar Fasciitis suffer however my pain is in my heel. Would these exercises be helpful before bedtime as well. I sleep in a boot to hold my foot in a 90 degree angle in a relaxed state,….this does help, I am able to walk right away when i get up. Thank you for the knowledge.
As long as you are having pretty constant pain with walking, you need to try to do these at least 2-3 times a day. Once it starts to feel better, you can drop down to once a day, and then once every other day. The best time to stretch for plantar fasciitis is in the morning before you even walk on your feet. Good luck!!
Hi doctor Jo, does that mean that plantar fasciitis isn't always permanent? Can someone with plantar fasciitis get back to running or martial arts without it being dangerous or painful or is it always recommended to do non inpact sport once you have plantar fasciitis? What are your thoughts? Thanks
It sounds like your closed captions got turned on. You can easily turn them off by hitting the "CC" button at the bottom of the video. You can also make them transparent if you'd like to keep them on. I show how to do all that and more in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VatNBZh66Po.html
Is there more I can for heel pain? My feet used to hurt in the middle and the heels. But now it's just the heel. it just seems like it won't go away. It's been nagging at me for 2 months now.
She was a pound puppy, but we are the crazy people who have DNA tests done on our rescues :-) Bailey's main markers are: German Shepard, Siberian Husky, and Icelandic Sheepdog.
Closed captioning/subtitles can be turned on/off by clicking on the CC button below the video. You can also change it to many different languages among other things like changing the transparency to be able to see through the words: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VatNBZh66Po.html
AskDoctorJo Seems like the first thing my Doc told me to do ...'ice'...only made it worse! "If that dont work , go to therapy" she said. It seems to be coming along with your stretching treatment. Thanks a bunch. They say each case is different. I will not be going to any therapist because every time I have ever went to them they never really helped. Except one time. They told me a knee therapy the day I was released telling me I was healed, They never practiced the stunt while I was in therapy. Go figure. Thanks again for your efforts to help people without taking all our money. I am so tired of being raped from medical practicianers.
I had injection about 9 mths ago and touch wood completely pain free. It’s a terrible thing to have I tried everything until I found out from a stranger who asked why I was walking like I was she actually guessed I had planter faciaitis think I spelt it wrong lol. She recommended asking doctor for injection. It really hurt tho but it worked almost straight away.
All i can say is 243 ppl with thumbs down can stick it. I’m a 47 yr old skateboarder & kept writing off my pains as a bruised heel until i looked into it more. This video gave me positive results the following morning! Will continue with multiple times a day. Thanks Dr Jo!
Very true. When your tibialis muscles (the ones that get irritated with shin splints) are not working normally, you don't get a proper heel strike with your foot, which unfortunately can cause plantar fasciitis. Check out my shin splints videos and hopefully you will feel better soon!! Good luck!!
These stretches are so simple and easy to remember. Plantar fasciitis is so painful and I had been looking for something to help first thing in the morning, when the pain is the worst. I’m looking forward to relief! Thank you!
I had Patello femoral syndrome and when I went to the doctor, i was told that it's biomechanical and people who over protonate when walking are prone to shin splints and plantar fasciitis as well. I have had all of these over the years.. insoles really help and getting a good assessment
@@lavayuki I used to have shin splints and a few days ago, plantar fasciitis. It sucks especially when I'm walking to the bathroom in the mornings while dealing with the sharp pain. Is this like a permanent thing to people who get it?
Ha! I guess that is a very good point!! You can stretch it some before you walk to the fridge with the other stretches first...or walk on your toes! I hope it helps!! Good luck!!
Thank you so much! I just recently started experiencing plantar fasciitis. It's so incredibly painful. I'm 37 but sometimes I'm limping around like a person in their 90's! I've been doing the ice bottle water exercise, but will try the rest of these!
Have they done x-rays to see if you have a bone spur as well? Sometimes with plantar fasciitis, you can also have a bone spur. Often you can go to PT and they can do ultra sound and iontophoresis which can break up the bone spur without surgery. I hope this helps!! Good luck!!
Very well explained, simple and easy to practice at home, I've been suffering from this from time to time, a couple of months ago I had to stay home for about 3 days, I could not walk at all, the pain was back so I ended up here, thx for posting
I think I have plantar fasciitis, because I'm a dancer who has had to do intense classes outside on concrete - it isn't sprung, obviously, which is bad for the feet and ankles - and now the arch of my foot feels tight and hurts sometimes. I will walk and suddenly the skin is almost pulled tight, or I feel a sharp pain. Can you confirm that is what I have?
Really enjoyed the practical and easy to use tips for treating plantar fasciitis. The frozen water bottle idea is brilliant - inexpensive and accessible! It was also helpful to see and hear an explanation of what is causing the pain and how the stretches can alleviate it. Thank you!
Hi, after a few days of doing the 1st, the last exercise, the foot massage you show in the video alongside with stretching the hip flexors as I saw in another video (not from Doctor Jo) I can say that I'm a lot better from my heel pain. It really worked, thanks a lot Doctor Jo.
Have you had a chance to check your blood pressure? Have you had any increased sweating or shortness of breath? Most likely it is something you injured while working out, but you should not waste any time if you are having ANY other symptoms.
Well don't try to crack it :-) It could be a dislocated rib or maybe you just irritated the cartilage. You might want to go get it checked out. Pain that makes you have shortness of breath is not good.
Have you gone to the doctor? You might have something more than plantar fasciitis. Your doctor or physical therapist can also get you a night splint to wear which will help.
Thank you! I've 58 and a personal trainer and just started to have some heel pain after hiking. I don't think it's plantar fasciitis yet but I'm listening to this pain. Is it true that this can be a symptom of mesopause, shoes, age in general? I LOVE the frozen water bottle and your puppy! Thank you for your great videos.
This pain is so severe and your lessons are so helpful to me. Hopefully my pain vanishes forever because I loose my senses when the pain comes up. Thanks once again.
Thanks DR. Joe, I went from running 18 to 22 miles a week from being cripple. Had pain in the past but would go away after a week or two but this time it was longer and more painfull. Done the stretch, took a while for the pain to go completely away and no running for three months just climb a lot of stairs at work to replace the running....thank u...
Great videos Dr Jo! Information is power! Watched your Sciatica video & I must say I've had more relief from your videos in the past few days than I've had from my doctor in the past 5 years. Thank you...and Bailey.
Thank you for this video. I just got this pain in ball of foot rather suddenly when I got up the other morning. I mentioned it to a nurse and she said I most likely have this PlantarFascitis. Gave me those excerises. I will do them and hope it helps. My pain is not in heel it is ball of foot.
Thank you! I started longboarding after a looong break and the foot I push with is killing me! Hopefully this helps. Will give it a try. Oh and it looks like Bailey is shaking off a mean hangover.
Really loved the frozen water bottle idea. When I saw that icing would help I was thinking I'd have to park my foot on a bag of frozen peas while at the computer. Might even be able to use the frozen water battle idea at work during the day. Thank you for such a great video :)
Caps NZ How about 4 yrs? Started out as bone spurs, then my heel had calcified. None of them knew a darn thing. I went to an ortho dr., and she told me what it was. The whole foot is in pain and it radiates into my legs. When I walk it feels like a hip hop walk. Oh, she did tell me to do stretching. I am waiting for surgery on my right knee but this is just horrible. If you do not mind responding do you get a bright red semi ring on both heels? When I get up at night my feet look as if they are glowing. You?
@@sparx180 Hi. Did the ortho dr say how it happened so that you don't re-injure? I am hoping to be put on a waiting list to see one, but I've been dealing with this for a year now and nothing seems to help. If you don't mind my asking, is the knee surgery to fix your foot pain? I wish you all the best.
@@hayzzelnt I am booked in for surgery on my left knee. I went to the ortho dr and he said I can give you cortisone for $20.00 or Durolane for $450.00 That darn shot aggravated my left side, leg, back and rib cage. Complained about it went to hosp to explain. He said oh what can we do give you a physical and xray, too much time and left the room. I must have been shell shocked bcs I said nothing. Anyhow going to this place now that sells orthotics and they recommended I get a pair, which I did but they have not arrived yet. I do sleep with a pillow under my knees and put Voltaren on my bright red heels. I think the orthotics will help (I pray). More depth to them. Don't wear shoes that you can literally bend in half. At the end of the foot where the heel takes a dip that is where the pain is coming from but awakening in the morn, ee gads, it is horrible. I take 2 puffs of THC at bedtime and that helps a lot. Here I am yapping on, no the surgery is for my knee pain. Had the left done 4 yrs ago. Hope this helps in a small way. Thank you.
Was hit with this a few months ago. The doctor confirmed it. I suspect my older winter boots have lost their support. That and I've carried a lot of extra weight all my life. Oddly it's only my left foot. Having lost a little over 100lb now, I have been trying to get into hiking. I did a 10km hike, and had to stop frequently and rest the foot. It is really discouraging. I have the energy and desire to do the longer trails. Hopefully if I do these stretches daily, and maybe during my hikes it will get better. Curious, is this one of those things I'll always have, or will it eventually go away?
Update: Really impressed with how well this works. I have been doing these stretches / massage daily for about a week now. The Plantar Fasciitis pain that was constantly bothering me, even at rest, is no longer there. I do feel it if I've been on my feet for hours, or go for long walks. Perhaps if I do the stretches before and after being on my feet like that, maybe it will help it from coming up at all. Thank you for this. The pain was very real, and was preventing me from getting out and enjoying even a simple walk
Hi Dr. Joe, i had hit my ankle and the pain wouldn't go had an x-ray taken which says i have a small planter calcaneal spur and no fracture or dislocation, normal joint spaces and normal soft tissues. Dr. prescribe pain killer. Is there an exercise i can do like you show for planter fasciitis?
Madam, my Navicular Accessory bone really Hurts and Pain PLEASE make a video about Navicular bone Accessory Exersices. Should i Continue jogging. PLEASE ADVICE. pain full😣🥺🦴
So glad I found this. Been battling plantar fasciitis for 1 year. My podiatrist performed dry needling in December and I had some relief for 3 months, but the pain is back and constant. I have been a walker/jogger and haven't been able to do this for months. Hoping these exercises will help. Do you have a suggestions as to how many times a day to stretch? Or should I do it whenever the heel aches? Thanks again for posting this video.
Whelp' I can help you with the 'Plantain French Frydis'.. If you guys are going to fry up your Plantains, use clean oil (No Oils That French Fries Were Previously Made In, And Or Do Not Eat Delicious French Fries While Making Your Fried Plantain Chips Or Chunks Because Accident Can Happen And French Fries Can Get Dropped Into Oil, Okay. Thanks) or use Butter and enjoy.
When I was around 16 maybe 17 years old (many many moons ago!), I had such a sever case of PF on the bottom of both feet but the right foot was really bad. I didn’t tell my folks and it spread. It just so happens that I had a GYNO appt. And my Mom had me put on the birth control pill to regulate and lighten the heavy flow I would also had during my periods. Within the first couple of weeks, it all went away and has never come back. I am now in my mid 60’s and still no PF. Perhaps something in “the pill” had something to do with it. Just saying that was my experience with PF. Good luck to those who are suffering with PF.
Thank you for this video! My feets hurts so bad should i have shoes at home or walk barefoot? It feels like walking barefoot making it worst but im not sure.
How do you get the frozen bottle without getting up and walking? Suppose that's for people who don't live with teenagers who sleep well into the afternoon LOL. This video was great, thanks! Is it OK to train legs with plantar fascitis? I figured if I did gym work, which is quite static it might be ok but not sure and don't want to aggravate it more. I've been searching for leg exercises you can do with this condition and absolutely no videos on it. As it can last for a while at least something to maintain your muscle mass and flexibility would be helpful. Maybe you could suggest a few things? Thanks again 👍
Hey Doc,. I am 24 years old and I have plantar fasciitis from past 7/8 months . It pains tremendously I cannot even walk properly for the severe pain. Any special recommendations for me.. plz :-(
I hope they work!! Have they checked to see if you have any heel spurs as well? Sometimes, you can go to PT and get iontophoresis on the heel, and it will break up the spur without having surgery. Good luck!!
Hi Dr Jo, great content. Ok so I wanted to know what causes 'flat feet'? Back when I was in high school I never saw this...how do I know...well when my feet are wet and I walk on a dry floor the footprints show a healthy pattern. Now I am in my early 40s but the footprints are 'broader'! Are there any exercises to correct this anomaly? Thanks and keep it up.
So around 2007-08 i apparently fractured some bones in my right foot from kicking a football too hard, i didn't think i broke anything it just hurt for a few days maybe 2 weeks and went away. I was in the army at the time, fast forward to 2010-11 when I deployed to Iraq again the foot pain came back for a few weeks and went away, after I got back stateside it started to hurt again, they xrayed my foot and said it looks like i fractured it a couple times, and now i have a lot of issues with my plantar, could the wearing of a cam boot cause issues???
Everybody this is the REAL DEAL. I did these stretches once and the pain went down significantly and the next day almost nothing. I can finally rest and get up without pain! Omg I did not believe this would work, I was in pain for almost a month, diagnosed with planar fascia. These first two days have been amazing, I can't imagine how great I'll feel keeping this up for a week. THANK YOU
Mine is so bad! It hurts all day long!!! I do all the stretches, the tools and even bought the expensive shoes and custom insoles. Nothing helps! I have ehlers danlos syndrome and it makes me very limber and my joints and ligaments are as well. It’s caused me to become so depressed and I can’t even walk around to clean up my home, go grocery shopping and so on. I’m only 40lbs old and have was very healthy before all of this foot pain. I’ve gone to 3 different foot doctors and they all say the same thing, I’ve had 2 injections. The first one worked great, the second didn’t work at all and now they say I can’t have anymore because it will destroy that ligament.
Hi doctor, I'm from India. I played football at hard surface place and now I feel it pain in my heel. When i woke up at bed and my first foot step is Very painful. I did ultra sound wave physiotherapy and my pain doesn't complete go away. What should i do???
Very informatibe, precise & a humorous video :) I have Plantar Fasciitis (I assume),as i haven't seen a doctor yet.My pain goes on and off in the whole day with some minutes or sometimes hours difference.I have not been able to establish,as to what might have caused it.I think , it is either a specific gym workout that involves pressing barbell in an inclined position. The way i am doing it ,puts stress on the base of my feet as i lower the barbell down.Another possible cause is the heel that i sometime use in my shoes,to give me a minor height boost.I generally am doing all of my leg and feet workouts on my Leg day for GYM & i seem to do them fine. The only time,an issue arises is when i walk..I am going to see a Doctor tonight.I am hopeful but curious as to what will it come to.The country where i am living, the Doctors do not have a good reputation when it comes to certain complicated procedures such as surgeries or similar issues. I wonder what will this come down to,that i suffer from ,i.e A Plantar Fasciitis or something else ...Let's see...
This suddenly came on last week in both heels which is strange, gonna give your exercises etc a try and not go the gym for a while. 👍. I’ll report back in a few days.
Hi! 2 days ago I watched this post. My pain was a 7 and I was near tears. So I dug in and did your exercises!!! And wow!!! I’m at maybe a 2 for pain if that and feel relief already. The stretching made me realize how tight my Achilles and Hamstrings were… the foot massage hit the right spots… the stair stretches were amazing! I use the water bottle and tennis ball as well to roll my foot. I will be diligent and continue with your plan! I’m a retired Nurse, I walk approximately 5 miles a day and do 8 flights of stairs and don’t want to quit! Thank you… your plan is amazing! God bless you ❤
I would much prefer having plantain French frydis instead of Plantar Fasciitis. lol. I have flat feet and I'm overweight and started my spring time routine of weed whacking and planting at the farm and my left heel went "nope." Tried everything, it wouldn't heel, stretches are the only thing that gives me some temporary relief in the morning, bottle of wine at night is good after days work is done, and some decent shoe inserts. Crappy affliction.
strech is very good but at home i wear heels wedge like women n the big very mutch less because my weight go in the front of my feet my doctor say we need to wear 1.5 inches heels all the ;ife n we dont
Hello doctor, I haven't been diagnosed with plantar fasciitis but I get pain on my foot while I stand for one hour or more and it persists restricting me from standing or walking further. I don't know if it's Plantar fasciitis. Can I do this exercise to cure my disease.
I have had issues for sometime. Lately whilst stretching I have sharp pain at back/left side of heel. Doesn’t hurt any other time… I roll ball under foot as well.. will this heal with time or will it get worse or snap?
😂😅 Plantain Frenchfritis 🤣 The frozen water bottle is the ticket!!! Thank you so much Dr. Jo 😊 My foot feels 🥴😞😠! I appreciate the exercises. I’m gonna try them! I’m so frustrated!!! 😳 😢 with plantain frenchfritis…🤣🤣🤣
Hi Dr Jo, I have mid arch irritation sometimes going up into base of big toe and less so in other toes but sometimes there as well. I’ve had this on and off over the years. My question is could it be something other than PF? Reason I ask is I don’t get the pain with the heel first thing in the morning and never have, in fact my feet feel better after a nights rest. There are lots of muscles in the feet, do you think it could be something else. It does come on with wearing flats or overloading but the heel seems fine. Thanks
