I absolutely love sweet alyssum... it's short, cute and smells amazing! BUT living in the south it's usually a porch plant or it dies in our summer heat. This year I'm doing an experiment and planting 3 different types of sweet alyssum to see if any can beat our summer sun. Starting with Carpet of Snow Alyssum I started from seeds (this is the traditional alyssum that typically fades in the heat). Then a beautiful alyssum from Proven Winners called White Knight... this is a compact alyssum hybrid that is great for containers. FINALLY the golden standard... Proven Winners Snow Princess which is technically a lobularia hybrid. This baby is suppose to beat the heat while growing 3-4 feet wide.
Let's plant all 3 and see what happens!
