Hey Guys! It's that time of year where the summer containers are wearing out and fall is around the corner. How Fun! I'm transforming some containers pots at a commercial property. It's actually my first container pot project for someone else and I think they turned out beautiful. Fall is a great time to stuff your container pots with cold-hardy Annuals and Perrenials. The Croton, Celosia, and Coleus aren't quite as cold-hardy but are great Thrillers that will give you interest for at least a month or longer until that first frost hits. Once that happens, trade them out with boxwood or a beautiful cold-hardy evergreen to pair with the pansies, coral-bells, climbing ivy, and Ornamental Kale to extend the life your fall container pots for another month or two. I love how these turned out. I hoped you like the inspiration. I Can't wait to plant my own. Thanks For Watching! Zone 6

Thanks! I have got to do mine now. I’m waiting for 50 percent off sales. I think I’m going to plant mine so they look pretty for fall and will look great for spring! Hellebores, hostas, pansies etc. we will see.

I want to enjoy them in spring without any work in spring. I have to many other things in my yard to focus on.

Beautiful! ❤️ all the colors! So when you say cold hardy - does that mean they’ll survive zone 6 winter until covered in ice snow?

I know that was confusing. The cold hardy annual kale will survive temps down to 5 degrees…which means they will survive snow or frost that don’t go below those temps. Usually until late December for me. The coral bells, pansies, and ferns will survive the entire winter and come back in spring in my zone 6b climate because they are perrenials and cold hardy down to zone 4. Since containers get colder than the ground, they perrenials need to be cold hardy down to zone 4 . Two zones lower than my zone 6. If the pot is really big…I can get away with zone 5 plants in my climate. The ferns will lose there foliage with time as they go into dormancy, but not for about a month. They lose there leaves in late fall early winter. The coral bells hold onto to there leaves much longer! If the winter is more mild I have seen mine act like in evergreen. The pansies love the cold and will survive winter, come back in spring. I have seen my pansies bloom during winter with warm smells. Usually they are covered in snow though. I’m planning on planting fall containers with perennials that love spring and fall! Beautiful fall color and no work in spring. Once they lose there leaves in winter, I will just cover with some evergreens for a few months. Any other questions? The audio was awful on this video. Sorry

Zone 4… the perrenials with survive winter temperatures down to -30 degrees. Zone 6 temperatures down to -10 degrees. They will wake up, come out of dormancy when the temperatures warm up again in spring. They are just hibernating.
