This is my favorite poem by Emerson and I think you’ve definitely succeeded! ❤️ To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty, To find the best in others, To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, A garden patch or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded. (Ralph Waldo Emerson)

@Kayla C ~ Here in the SouthWest, we are having record heat too. Now that our Monsoon is starting, we are getting the typical humidity, only during the Summer. Praying for some of the rain Oregon and Washington are getting. We're have been in a 22 year drought...... Our lakes and rivers are at RECORD lows. Hopefully, we will all get the breaks the wet states are getting, soon!

I did a small lamp post garden where I included three bushes of Nepeta. My oldest cat loved it when I would shear it back because he'd lay in the clippings like they were catnip. So, now anytime I start a new full sun garden Nepeta has to be included. I have two Walkers Low juniors planted around my roses with more planned for another garden. In our area Monrovia is more prevalent than Proven Winners is but hopefully I will be able to find some of these varieties.

I needed this video today. The music you chose was so soothing. It is rare that I get to relax and drink my coffee before the kiddos get up for the day, but on those rare occasions I almost always watch your videos. I found a variety of nepeta last year called “Little Trudy” catmint. It bloomed from April to October and I didn’t have to shear it back at all. The blooms stayed bright purple all season. It even survived a late spring snow storm in May, blooms and all.

Hi Laura, what a pleasure to watch you in your garden, its really starting to take shape ,it looks as all those lovely colourful perennials are making such a difference bringing colour, form and the borders along the grass paths are really filling in, looking so much fuller . I can imagine them in a few years time. Would you give garden tours in the future ? perhaps a english tea room. Wouldn't it be fun for you to have a english tea or cocktail in the Hartley. You are doing such a great job helping in the community and sharing your garden with us all.It is really appreciated. It seems you have enough space to keep you busy and us entertained for the near future, added to that the times you share with your family on camera are lovely to see.I love the video of Samantha Grace at Christmas trying to keep up with your cat and recent introduction to her shoe collection that matches her Mamma's. 😀 she's a real cutie.Have a great summer, keep cool , happy gardening and thankyou from our family who watch everyday in Lincolnshire England.

I don’t have nepeta, but my daughter just received 30 of them (cats pajamas) to put around the pool in her back yard. I’m excited for her! She did have coreopsis but they got too big, so we dug them out and transported them to my house where they are now residing on a sunny hillside, I’m praying they make it! I’d never heard of Nepeta until last year when you planted some by the chicken coop. My local nursery (here in Texas zone 8b) had a few “cat’s pajamas” on clearance last fall and I bought all five. They are doing so well and the bees love them! The timing of this video is perfect because now I know how to give them a proper trim in a few days. 🌿🍃🌙🌾

I am a big fan of Cat's Pajamas. I planted them last year in a new bed I made. They got way less sun than I thought they would and got a deluge of water off the shed roof whenever it rained that I had not considered. They looked, small, yellow and sickly all year. I thought for sure they were dead, but they came back like champs this year. I dug them up to relocate them and they had a ton of new root growth and are doing great!

Today's video was one of your best. I always enjoy sharing your garden, but today's video was also a good teachable moment, as many of your recent videos have been. I learned so much about what and how to plant where, color schemes to think about, making good choices with perennials to get the best "bang for my buck." You make us all feel empowered, you give us confidence to try new things, and you help us realize the plants we choose may have a life of their own. Best of all, you impart all of this, not as the skilled teacher you are, but as a friend.

Love that coreopsis, Shades of Rose! I have seen about 2 honey bees in our garden this year. NE Ohio. Other types of solitary bees and some bumble bees but no honey bees. I see so many neighbors with spray gallons of round-up. Sad!

We bought catmint this year and planted it it was a beautiful little bushy plant. It lasted one evening like that. The next morning it is a flat circle (still alive and blooming) on the ground from the feral cats (there is a colony living across the street) rolling on it at night. It is now behind a fence a perking back up. I would love to see ours get beautiful and tall again like yours.

I'm still in love with those curtains in the window of the chicken coop 🐥🥰.

So jealous of your current weather. We (zone 8, coastal NC) are dealing with your normal conditions. Extremely dry, unbearably hot (even at night), and add oppressive humidity. With this weather in June, I can’t imagine what July and August will bring. I am so thankful for AC!

I know, here in South Louisiana, we are very hot also, and humid! Drink lots of water! I get out very early, around 6am. And it's still humid!

I'm amazed @ how pretty the spring pansies & violas still look around the chicken coop. Your Interesting weather makes for happy surprises.

Weirdest weather pattern in WI, where I live as well. Hot, hot, HOT! Not sure how you plant in 98 degrees….as it was here this week. I’m not mulched and don’t have a water system so not sure how to keep my garden from looking stir-fried. Guess it’s water by hand…..Now I truly appreciate your tenacity in putting up videos all summer long. 👍🥵🫡

The weather in northwest Washington has been extremely wet this year. I've seen it before but many years ago (30 yrs). We live at 1000 ft behind a mountain and have received 75 inches of rain and very few sunny days in June. April and May had more sunny days than June has. I'm so glad that you are getting a good mix of sun and rain. Your garden looks beautiful.

My cats do love the catmint, but they don't damage it. They lay down next to it and rub their faces in it, then they just chill. Like really chill.

This is the first year my gardens have seen the fruits of my labour and lessons from GA. While working out in the front beds, I have received five compliments so far this year! I owe it all to Laura and the knowledge I have gained from this channel. I think I need to create a good amount of space for PW Cat's Pyjamas! It seems like a powerhouse perennial.
