Planting Water Lilies In My New Ponds! 

Whatever side experiences the most wind is where you want to plant the cattails. They help keep the surface stable and keeps silt from being kicked up.

I’ll say it again, amphipods and isopods will thrive in the aquatic vegetation once it has spread more and will provide excellent food for your fish! They are quite easy to find in the wild to be added to the pond.

I can't wait to see it fully planted and filled with fish and turtles!

I look forward to the ponds’ eco-systems taking off soon! In addition to laying several sets of eggs, it was nice to see two frogs making themselves at home. Some ducks would eventually be nice, too. 👍

It's great to see you caring about planting the pond, most owners I've met tend to not want any foliage in fear that it would only get fishing lines stuck, without realizing how good plants are for sheltering fish from predators and sun, as breeding and nursery grounds and keeping the water clean.

It is going to be really interesting to watch these ponds grow out over time.

Water lilies can completely take over a pond. If a pond isn't deep enough, that is what happens. It can cover an entire pond and finally there is no open water. That is why people keep water lilies in plant containers.

People plant them in pots so they can give them decent substrate with lots of fertiliser, makes them grow a lot larger and greener in my experience.

I HIGHLY recommend planting vallisneria americana, it is probably one of the best plants out there, and provides extensive breeding grounds for bass. you should definitely try it. It can form giant meadows even from a small number of plants. It is submersed though, so it might be difficult to put it deeper in the water. Its not hard to find online, as its a common aquarium plant. Its often sold as "jungle val." seriously one of the best plants out there, and its native to Texas. I've heard many scientists at my university praise this stuff, and they use it for lake environments that are failing, and they have been able to save them.

You should drag a nearby fallen tree into one of the ponds it’ll add habitat diversity and cycle lots of nutrients to the algae

you should create a video game where we build up our own pond slowly. like the more we lvl up the more species we unlock and raise. and different plants too. id be so into it and i think many people will be too!

This is so nice. Why don t u plant a dozen trees around the ponds ( gives it a more natural look and provides more shadows on some parts, végétation, more species)

The pond is starting to term with life - I love it!

Just adding that soil is going to introduce all sorts of little critters. Check out jar topia or any other jar videos where they scoop up soil or river soil and then observe just what's in it. Astounding to see how much life is in just a handful of sand and soil.
