Apparently, unlike PvZ2, Popcap (or EA I think at this point as Popcap is on a deplorable state and I doubt they could make any corporate decision) will hunt every person who tries to mod this game on an attempt to make it better like what happened before. So, this game has no real salvation, which is sad. The best we can do is a fangame, but that on general is much harder than modding as it requires far more knowledge.
If pvz 3 was going to change everything from the first two games and switch genres then it should have been a spin off rather than a direct sequel like bfn or a better example pvz heroes
Apparently it was planed for this game to be a spin off but after the pvz 3 2019 version failed they moved to this one. Apparently, not sure if it's true or not.
0:58 The reason why they tried to reboot the PvZ franchise has to do with how *EA* works. When a game doesn´t gain enough as they expected(that isn´t the same as being profitable here, EA demands a lot for the games hence thats why microtransactions filled games exists, to get as much money as possible), unlike any other normal publisher, what EA do is to fire most devs, and hire another new team, more often than not cheaper this time. And this new people, who often doesn´t understand the franchise tries to do a diferent take, regardless of how well it would work because the lack of said understanding. This lead of doing the easiest route, which is see what was the most popular trend (Clash Royale, GardenScapes) and mix it with PvZ to try to make it as trendy as possible.
How can they call this a sequel if it's a game in an entirely new genre 💀. Honestly it's really sad, first they killed garden warfare, now they will cancell pvz as an IP itself because of these dogwater games they putoff. Also it's funny how popcap look at how much millions of bucks mobile games make and then decide to make their pvz parody after seeing the target to copy from. They did this with candy crash, clash royale (gladly canceled and never seeing the light of day) and now garden scapes. Once a great idea and awesomely executed game, now an IP to grab money. This is like coming to a funeral at this point.
It also sucks how the game (at least at the moment) cannot be modded due to it being server sided so people can't really make a good version of PVZ 3 without starting from scratch.

The new plants and zombies aren't original Lychee is star fruit but worse and endurian Bowling zombie it's catapult zombie they could've made him act more like bowling bulbs where he hits multiple targets Pigeon feeder literally just discotron Silver sword is gloom shroom Rock n roll imp is basically just bulkier imp Stealth imp is from Chinese it's called bandit he can still eat plants while being invisible So pvz3 is just a boring, bland, copy the real experience is the story not gameplay itself

Look while bfn isn’t a worthy sequel atlest it sticked to its roots of being a shooter to be atlest somewhat called a sequel . I think the current people that are working on Pvz 3 don’t understand what a “sequel” is which people want a returning game with new concepts onto it. Though I can kinda see somewhat of a huge challenge to that cause of how fleshed out Pvz 2 is and still getting updates “even if they aren’t as good” and maybe it is a bit of popcap’s fault for going choseing time travel as it’s second game “cause you really can’t top it cause it opens up a lot of possibilities”. But that’s not really an excuse to rebrand it into a different game. We’re looking for a tower defense game not a gardenscapes knockoff. It’s literal power ups are also based off the gardenscapes power up to. I’m just going to pretend this game doesn’t exist till they straighten there act out. They might actually even make more money if they just listens to the community.
Seeing a lot of evidence from some sources it kinda just feels like this might of been gw3 as much as it looks completely different they still share a lot of things variants and upgrades in the respective games are technically sub-classes they don’t actually differ to much here variants are essentially just the same character but just played in a different way just avoid making an entire new class from scratch. Bfn’s upgrades can essentialy change a characters playstyle/role significantly from nightcap being a stealth you can use some of the upgrades into a support class that can quickly revive plants. Unlike Pvz 3 bfn does acknowledge its roots from the whole Pvz series. With some skins and cosmetics basically both night cap, corn and acorn all have skins that relate to the Jurassic marsh, some of the land being inspired by big wave beach and western themes from Pvz 2. One of bfn’s skins acknowledged the space battles too with one of its skins. The thing is bfn respects its previous installments roots but is forced to tone it down and be more buggy due to the greed of Ea and new popcap. Had this game been realsed in the state of how it is on complete edition “minus some of its negative changes that had to be forced on it so it can run stable” it could of worked if given more time. But then again this game was rushed out.

Plus, I kinda can understand why variants were absent in Battle for Neighbourville: there's no sights of war party involved and LEAF wasn't evolved in BfN aside from Major Sweetie who's basically served as the one who makes sure Neighbourville residents save from The Zombies' plans. Plus, there's Gnome Knight who probably appears for the job balance thing and Rex who sells stuff for both sides. Extra note: Mr Stubbins was mentioned by Zomboss. Yeah, if wasn't for EA and New PopCap alongside with those fans... Battle for Neighbourville would get more updates... Similar thing applied to Old PvZ3...
The graphics are not bad because they are badly done, they are bad because they are improper to the tower defense style and spit on the legacy of PvZ. If you watch the talk about how they decided to design PvZ 2's art, they were brimming with respect and passion about keeping what people recognized about PvZ, but this game almost entirely scraps all the legacy the first two titles built. They completely ignored the ugly-cartoony aesthetic for a general cutesy 2.5D one that, while "nice", doesn't at all capture the feeling of tower defense PvZ.

Im so scared of the direction for pvz 3 and match, the franchise is trying its hardest to be alive while on life support. Literally my very first video game was pvz 1 the 2009 version on my dads old pc😢
At this point now I want to make my own video on the take of pvz but what the point I feel PvZ 3 is not marketed not for us the pvz community more like for the next generation that maybe a few reasons why they "simplifies" the game Make it easy to play or use the brain even though this is a puzzle game. Also they focus on the story ik there is the comics but really pvz is not much for story type beside the mystery of the gnomes oh wait what gnome never seen them on pvz 3 (idk I not seen any talk about the gnome on pvz3) but there no point if you gonna cut some corners. I feel this is human evolution's fault on this "monkey see monkey do" pvz 3 try to be a generic mobile game to hook the whales or power player, people who are gonna spend money the most or play the most, etc. that few reason they want us to use power ups like pvz2 there optionally but here I feel is a must run on the later on the game. What's make it complicated about New PvZ3 is that it was a lack of community nods from previous games, unlike Old PvZ3 who contained like a lot of references from the previous games including spinoffs, like it's the first time we seeing Immorticia from PvZ Heroes debut at the mainline PvZ game but sadly all of that from Old PvZ3 was end up scrapped... And sure New PvZ3 game was the first time it's making general nods to the Dark Horse Comic but with the cost of New PvZ3 act like a Community Reboot instead of an actual sequel... As a fellow player who obsessed with lores, this hurts me... Please come back, Sawgrass and Skeleton Zombie...
I genuinely couldn't play more than roughly 10 minutes of the game because of how simply bad it was. The art style was okay, but the gameplay felt so bad that it turned me off the game permanently. This video definitely hit all the points and all of the issues I've had with the game, thank you Jay for making such awesome content!
I assume that popcap is doing this genre change so nobody feels like they wasted money on pvz2,popcap is most definitely doing this to continue to make money out of microtransactions from 2 since they are 2 completely different games genre wise What annoys me is that they decide to name this as a continuation of pvz2 yet resembles its gameplay in a limited manner,this could have been like a pvz heros spinoff where it is actually a good game,this games downfall is its claim to a “continuity” that doesn’t really exist and its need (money greed) to flesh out a sequel that they are unwilling to change
And the new team is also very passionate and liked their work that means they don't need us anymore too bad all of their terrible decisions are just ruining a tower defense franchise

Pvz3 and pvz match by looking at their direction that means that the future pvz games will be literally just predatory mobile games filled with cash grab and many more
They aren't making a good game anymore or caring about how to make a game enjoyable l, replayability and fun like they used to back in 2016 garden warfare and heroes era it's just messing with the IP I think pvz IP should belong to someone else the direction it goes would literally be the downfall of future pvz games so if they keep doing this the same formula copying other successful mobile games in the future it will be final nail to the franchise pop cap needs to stop copying and just listened for once
It shouldn't even be called as pvz3 because it has less worlds,plants and zombies and these plants and zombies aren't even unique same with world you can see them in the older pvz games and with the terrible decisions that pop cap was making for the last 6 years The game felt similar to pvz adventures but slightly downgrade it also had some limited plants, acts like a generic mobile game too but with new gameplay that is actually balanced and beatable pvz3 should've been called as pvz adventures 2 the whole community wouldn't hate it on they would try check to the cancelled pvz game
Thats isn't hating it's just the truth pop cap isn't the same as before because with the new dev team on their side they completely ran out of ideas look at what they did to current states of pvz2 The real problem the change for the sake of change they never even tried learning from bfn mistakes you can't just remove what made your game memorable and unique pvz3 shouldn't even be called as pvz3 because the genre was switched into a puzzle game so they've been also copying other games such as garden warfare was a parody of battlefield at first but later then it became its own thing heroes was also a copy of hearthstones bfn was a copy of overwatch both of the original and new pvz3 is a copy of both 2 games clash of clans and Gardenscapes and lastly pvz2 arena it's the same as angry birds 2 The devs clearly run out of ideas so they decided to look at other successful mobile games and yes they are following where the money goes showing how lazy they are
