Plaster of Paris in Resin - What a Surprise?

This video is about Plaster of Paris in resin. I was really surprised what happened, I don't think I could have guessed the outcome in the end. I enjoy pushing the boundaries of resin and adding things to it to achieve a different effect. I knew what I was hoping would happen when adding Plaster of Paris to my resin, but not sure I was ready for this outcome.

I absolutely love your experiments gone right or wrong! I also absolutely LOVE your torn up jumper! That is the clearest indication that you are an artist, rather like when you never, as a dancer, show up to an audition with a new pair of shoes. They should be worn and tattered or no one is going to believe you have put in the work you have. Artists are the same. An apron should be trashed, or a shirt, or whatever, all covered in paint, glue, resin, glitter and whatever else. Good on you!

I love this idea, and yah, it turned out perfectly! It occurs to me that this is also a great way to save resin. The plaster adds enough bulk to the resin, I think, so you use less of it. (Less resin, I mean) Any thing that saves using more resin is awesome to me!!

I really get drawn to your videos because I think that a lot of people are like me and scared to experiment on our own. I love seeing how these things turn out. It would be even better to know how durable these things are because I know that when you displace resin with other things (by adding things to resin, this is what you're doing), it creates spaces between the resin and causes the bond to be weaker and the piece can break easier. A lot of people work with resin to sell things made with it and durability is important for that reason. I don't actually use a lot of resin myself, I make and sell molds. But any information about different techniques with resin I can find is helpful because I can share it with my customers who have questions.
