I'm a type 2 diabetic. I had to wait 3 weeks to get my meds after i'd been on it for several months, and step my dosage back up after being without it. The shortages are real. It's so stupid that this is being handed out to people just because they can buy it, and not prioritizing patients who actually need it.

It's terribly unfair that people who don't have diabetes or are dangerously overweight are taking this. I think they are saying the facial aging side effect to appeal to these who are using it when they don't need it to stop using it. It's a shame that people cannot simply be told that there are people who truly need this med to survive, please don't take it when you don't really need it.... There's a shortage .. instead, they have to appeal to their vanity and tell them that they will look older.

I used to work for a pharmacy for the last 15 months, and when I tell you, the number of people calling about Ozempic and Mounjaro was insane. I am on ozempic, I am a type 2 diabetic. It has brought my A1c from an 11 to a 6. I also went from 314 lbs to 233. . Ozempic is expensive for a months supply it’s 1000. My insurance pays most I pay 25.00. My insurance company sent out letters letting their customers know they won’t cover the cost anymore unless they have a type 2 diabetic diagnosis. I have had a hard time getting the prescription in the last 6 months. Yes I’ve noticed my face changed but I’m 55 and have lost almost 100 lbs. I assumed my face would look different. Not a big deal.

Ozempic face is a real thing. My mom, a woman with type 2 diabetes, always looked pretty young for her age despite being very ill (autoimmune hepatitis, fibromyalgia, probably MJD). She started taking Ozempic and lost almost 150 lbs within about 6 months, which is phenomenal since she's been morbidly obese most of her life, but her face looks GAUNT. @@aquariusrising7019 Yes. I’m on metformin as well. Much worse. My experience has been that it’ll be ok for a few days and then it feels like cramps so bad you double over. With metformin diarrhea is very common but Ozempic almost mimics irritable bowel syndrome. So you have diarrhea for days, then you’re ok, and then you’re constipated for days. I’m currently on the 4th day of a bout with constipation and it’s just miserable. No energy. Bloated. Feel fatigued. I haven’t left my couch and I had tons of plans today. We’re in a freeze so I was planning on really getting my house fully unpacked and organized. Instead I’m cramping and feeling like garbage. And the nausea is almost daily. I carry zofran with me everywhere and my friends keep some on hand in case I’m over there and run out. It’s absolutely awful. As a diabetic, I choose to accept the side effects. As a former morbidly obese woman (was 298 lbs and gaining) who looked into every option out there, I would not willingly use Ozempic for cosmetic weight loss, that’s officially what’s it’s called when you don’t have a diabetes diagnosis.

I use ozempic for a medical condition that makes me obese and prevents me from losing weight. So far I have gradually lost almost +80 pounds and my body has been gradually adjusting to the weight loss. From what I understand, the face effect must be one similar to that suffered by patients who have undergone bariatric surgery and lose many pounds quickly and must be operated to reduce/eliminate excess skin, in this case the patient does not recognizes his features/new figure after losing weight to those he had before using the injection. For this reason, we patients who are undergoing weight loss are monitored not only to know that everything regarding health and weight loss is going well, but also that our emotional and mental health is also correctly processing this difficult process because otherwise it exists. a high percentage that returns the patient to the initial point of obesity or even worse.

I’m a type 2 diabetic who had already lost about 35 pounds over a 2 year period (went from 325 to 290) before my Dr put me on Ozimpic. That was about 2 years ago and I’ve been on Ozimpic ever since, so about 2 years. I take it once a week and for the first couple days after the injection I just don’t have nearly as many food cravings. In the first year taking it I continued to lose weight at a little faster pace and lost another 30 pounds (290 to 260). Then I started lifting weights and over the last year I’ve gained 15 pounds and am at 275 but probably look more like I’m 240 or so as I have gained a lot of muscle mass. For me it’s a win and I’m thankful my Dr. Prescribed it. However despite my weight loss my blood sugar and A1C have continued to get worse over the years despite losing 60+ pounds of fat. Use to my blood sugar only got extremely elevated if I had something really bad like a soda and a candy bar. Now it gets bad if I eat ANY carbs. Type 2 Diabetes is a struggle for real. If your pre diabetic take it seriously. Most days after any carbs my vision gets incredibly blurry which is a symptom of high blood sugar most people don’t know about and it sucks. Imagine living most of your life with very blurred vision that can’t be corrected.

Thanks for debunking the ozwmpic face. The rest of symptoms, are for real. As you proven, Weigh loss with these meds are a subsequent of no eating, if face looks age-liking its because dehydration, because from my experience, I didn't drink any fluid for nearly a week when I started it. When I forced myself to drink despite vomiting it, my face came back to its regular tone, rehydrated. And there are more than just GI effects, thiroides can get affected, if kidney and liver had some issues, also impacts their work but, as you clearly said, it all depends to a individual level. The lack of ozempic in pharmacies due to people who's buying it just for losing weight when they have not diabetes and cardiovascular risk, better ask a professional, and endocrinologist, as it really affects all. Since October, I have lost over 10% of my body weight, lack of ozempic made my family doctor to change the injections to daily pills, and curiously, most GI effects have disappeared, so I feel less sick eating and drinking (just water and tea) but also weight loss has slowed to a healthier pace, it was sick losing over 3 pounds a week (it happened while pregnant first 3 months for complete crazy diabetes) but well... It's been since December with the pills, not telling name (we know why, some patients need the meds and getting even the pills is difficult) and next February 28th have endocrinologist check up. If you want, I'll update you. Honestly, you are being clear, nice someone also reminds others not to take it for weight loss without chronic illnesses and a serious specialist to prescribe and check its effects, pancreatitis is for real, I know 2 users (one of them, non diabetic, a private doctor prescribed because was paid) who are still in the hospital with it. Nobody told them, how curious, I didn't know about this med till prescribed and I asked about this matter too to my specialist... Thanks for trustable accountable info

Type 2 Diabetic here. I'm on Ozempic. I also have Reactive Hypoglycemia. This is the first time in my entire life that I didn't have serious blood glucose drops multiple times a day. I also have an inflammatory disease and since I started O, my pain has decreased substantially. The downside is the nausea. I had horrible nausea 24/7 like morning sickness. It stopped after 4 months. I am losing weight, but it's not magic, I decreased my calories. But before O, I couldn't eat less than a certain amount without getting sick. I never understood people who would tell me that they "forgot to eat". Before O, my body let me know that I had to eat. Not hunger, but dizziness, sweating, etc. It's so strange to now remind myself to eat. I wish I'd had this drug years ago! As for the availability issue: when the FDA approved Actemra, a drug used for rheumatology, for COVID, the manufacturer DIVERTED the ENTIRE SUPPLY to hospitals mainly for unvaxxed COVID patients. It wasn't even "first come, first served" like with O. Most diabetics have other options than O. If you only knew how furious I felt when people who were anti-vaxxers would say that it was none of my business. Well, people taking medication I NEED because they won't get vaccinated is MY problem. There will always be people ahead of you in line. It's frustrating when their need is vanity or self-induced, but it doesn't mean they shouldn't get it. That's not how things work. That's life. I eventually got Actemra back but I spent months gravely ill. It's just how it is. Sick people don't come first. Money does.

I had covid last year. 4 months later I had the flu. I lost about 30 lbs during this period. I definitely looked older. I started taking Collagen about 3 weeks ago and my skin already looks bettet.

I thankfully haven’t had trouble getting my Ozempic refilled so far but my mom has. Idk if it’s a difference in pharmacies (she gets hers filled at the hospital pharmacy bc she works there, mines at Walmart) or the doses (she’s on 2mg, I’m on 1mg). I’ve def lost some weight but more importantly it keeps my sugars in check. It’s annoying that people who need it control their diabetes, like me and my mom, are having trouble getting their refills. Thankfully I didn’t have any side effects from it aside from not being able to eat nearly as much as I used to lol Metformin on the other hand…. Boy was that rough for a while

I just switched to 2mg and my pharmacy was having issues getting it for about 6 wks. They had no issues with the .5 or 1 mg versions. I just received my first rx of the 2mg. I've been using ozempic for about a year and I haven't had any issues with it. I feel fortunate.

@@sdehaemer yea I kinda figured it was the higher dose pens that were being most affected. Hopefully it gets better soon. In the meantime people using it for diabetes should have priority

My mother is diabetic and had to wait for her medicine because of this Ozempic craze.

So sad to know that people who need it have to wait and stupid people using it for vanity.

Isn't Kim nearly 50? Can we just let her show signs of aging and not make a big deal about it? :)

She’s closer to 40 than 50. I don’t think it’s meant to shame Kim for aging. It’s just an example.

I take ozempic for my diabetes. I have lost 60 pounds. I have been blessed with good aging genes. I still look younger than my age. The foods you eat, lots of water, collagen and good skin care has helped with that.
