This is super helpful! I have a lot of video work coming up for a client in a similar setup industry so this is incredibly useful

Great! Good luck with your assignments, it's an interesting business to work in with video content :) I have learned SO much from similar videos where someone does detailed explanations from real assignments on location. For me that's 100 times more helpful than just "theory", so I try to produce similar content myself :)

You have great breakdown videos. Very informative. I like that you're using the Sekonic, although I think it could be more useful for matching bicolor lights, right? I usually do narrative work, with motivated light and stuff. I was also looking for a way to measure kelvin but wasn't ready to spend that amount for the C800, so... I've found a hidden gem for $40. I know, sounds crazy. It's a little device called "Light Master Pro" from a Chinese brand called Opple, you can only find on Ali xpress. It was meant to be used by environmental lighting professionals but surprisingly, does wonders for cinematography. I was really skeptical at first but there are some videos on YT showing it keeping up with the Sekonic and Minolta readers for Kelvin and CRI precision. Of course, it has its limitations like, no R6, R9, R11, etc... values or measurements above 50.000lux. But you can read very precise Kelvin values, CRI, Color Shift, Flickering and Lux for $40. Maybe one day I'll buy a Sekonic, but for now I bought 3 units in case of one of them failing on me. If you want to go around measuring random lights without risking to lose 1800 grand, grab one of those to yourself.

Thanks a lot! Yes I know there are much more affordable alternatives out there. I even tried a kind iPhone add-on which works suprisingly good for just measuring color temperature. It's nice to measure the light so that you know are in the ballpark, but the end product also comes down to personal taste. Sometimes I want it slightly warmer, sometimes slightly colder, than what I have measured.
