Platinum Dunes were the king of the remake in the 2000s producing films like Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Amityville Horror and Friday the 13th. But there was always one franchise that the production company wanted to tackle but were never able to. Honestly this version would’ve been badass. I like the idea how trauma could mess up the killers and even the “Scream” two killer twist isn’t the worst “Halloween” could experience (looking at ‘Curse’ & ‘Resurrection’). Platinum Dunes wouldn’t be the group I’d want for this script

So objectively, there are elements of this concept that would work well on it's own and not in the Halloween franchise. It almost sounds like a case of slapping a well known horror franchise name on an unrelated script and calling it a sequel.

I refer to movies like that as "Howling Twos." The Howling was a hit, the studio had another screenplay about werewolves and one quick rewrite later... Voila! A sequel! See also: American Psycho 2, which had a scene added after filming so everyone involved weren't even aware they were making a sequel! Got to wonder if the decision to do that was done later on or if that was the producers' plan all along and they just didn't tell anyone. That way they could mislead the cast to sign on to an original film instead of one that was riding the coattails of another movie instead. Either way, that's some real sneaky sh*t right there.

There was actually a script that followed resurrection that had John and Freddie in it and honestly it was pretty interesting it was about Freddie writing a book and going back to Haddonfield I remember there was a really cool line were John says to Freddie something along the lines of "my uncle doesn't really like publicity "

I would have to disagree and say that this is what I call a remake. To remake a story and use the same characters. I like they take a chance and not using the same materials. I do not understand two killers but better explained, it can work.

This sounds like something that could easily just be it’s own original horror movie without slapping the Halloween title on it. Although, the “twist” that the two killers are in fact the two kids who get kidnapped in the beginning would be painfully predictable

I don't know if I'm just having a very rough ADD day or what, but I totally missed the result of Michael Myers and Shaun Carver being kidnapped. I heard the tandem killer scenario with the two of them, but what happened to the kidnappers, and how do they factor in later?

You know what the kidnap part of the story reminds me of? Perkins 14. The kidnapped kids return to wreak havoc. This mess sounds like the writer took all the influences you mentioned, threw them in a blender, drank the concoction and puked the combo into a script. Btw, Jason 9 isn't that bad. In fact, if you're given some idea of what you're in for, it can be a lot of fun. I certainly like it more than Friday The 13th 5. Yes, 5 feels like a Jason movie. But after you find out the twist, it feels like the BS trope "It was all a dream".

Making a good Halloween is tricky. You need to balance stuff between being too derivative of other films, and not being way too different that it would alienate a section of fans. This one feels on a similar level of divisiveness as Halloween III, Zombie's Halloween II and Halloween Ends with Michael not even being the top dog killer. I feel like changing Michael's backstory is solely done for the sake of being different and takes away from the vileness of his character in the original. It's a common problem with Platinum Dunes' remakes were they change stuff too much and while sometimes it works -- namely TCM 03 -- this is one instance where it definitely overstays its welcome sorta like Nightmare '10 making Freddy a fucking pedo. I'm good with the 2018 reboot rather than this.

Look, I know I’m in the minority and this opinion isn’t popular, but I love RZ’s ‘Halloween’s and can’t stand the attitude perpetrated here (and by many others) that they’re ‘objectively’ terrible-it’s subjective and everyone is entitled to think so. It’s also ridiculous that fans act as though they’re the bottom of the barrel series-wise, when it’s such a given that ‘Resurrection, Curse’ and even ‘Revenge’ (which I enjoy, despite its manyyyy problems) are just so much worse. It just reeks of smugness and arrogance and doesn’t acknowledge the audacity and extremism that Zombie bought to both films, in particular his sequel, which is finally getting some appreciation after over a decade.

I like the idea of all the slashers being owned by the same company and in a shared universe. Though Platinum Dunes were almost all pretty bland outside of the 2003 Chainsaw Massacre which was really solid.

There was my version I pitched to The Weinstein Company when they were still a thing, back in 2013. They were having a screen writers competition. Wouldn’t let me participate because I was deployed overseas. But some of my ideas still made it into 2018 and KILLS. I would have loved to have pitched Platinum Dunes making a HALLOWEEN movie, after how amazing TCM 2003 was.

Killing the fire department, however mine would have been at the firehouse after he cut the power to Haddonfield. And the kids and adults would have had John Carpenter’s THE THING playing on the television throughout my H1 & H2 which I would have shot back to back because they both took place on the same night.

Some details/plot points would need to be tightened up/changed to make more sense, but...yea...i kind of want to see it LMAO A fan made/small studio version of this would hit just right I think. The movie described in the video sounds better than most of the dreck puked out in the last 44 years. Further, Zombie's remake (2007) is one of the better in the series. I'd still take H2 (2009) over most...it's a nasty film, but at least it has some imagination and a scary michael--in contrast to films where he looks like a cross between Marcel Marceau and a guy who can figure out which mask to put on. (I won't get into Loomis' demented acting and worse makeup in parts 4-6. There's a reason why DGG deleted all sequels (although H2 1981 is excellent)--the reason is that they got progressively worse. H20 was good for about 25 minutes of its 90 minute run time. Danielle Harris was way too good for the crappy films she was cast. H40 was vastly overrated--albeit watchable. Halloween Kills was arguably the most entertaining movie in the in the series--not the best, but the one I'll likely go back to most frequently.

@@scottieman2 sad really - not all are like that not wanting to paint everyone the same way but the majority defo lol. When I was younger and watched horror I didn't care about the backstory of the killer it was a horror film and had gore. Like Friday the 13th Jason allegedly drowned, his Mum was murdered, came back to kill anyone who goes near Crystal Lake. What more do you need lol. I do enjoy films which have ambiguity and it's down to your own imagination to work out the story elements - I enjoy that - modern audiences call those films confusing or don't make sense....sigh. I mean I remember The Strangers coming out and the total confusion of the whole "Why are you doing this"........ "Because you were home" and still does today even though it's totally clear why...... And every 3min jump scares in modern horror and the fact they don't know how to write a decent ending. Be it there are exceptions lol.

I mean....if you don't pay attention to the previous movies then yeah. Firstly, Jason didn't actually die until he was killed by Tommy in the final chapter since it's revealed that he didn't drown and was living out in the woods for years in part 2. Secondly, they were pretty consistent about the status on Jason's body. I don't mind Jason being some kind of immortal revenant with incredible strength and an impressive healing factor, but making him some demonic chestburster who goes into women's privates...just no

No it doesn't. NONE of the prior movies never established Jason was even a Deadite to begin with and Pamela never would've had it to begin with since Jason didn't become undead until Part 6. Part 7's opening said he couldn't die because there was a death curse in the family, not a Necronomicon. The reason why Jason looks different in every movie is mostly because a different director has a different vision of Jason's design and actor. Almost like how Michael suddenly looks different in Halloween 4, 5, or 6 despite being the same mask. (Like how could've had changed bodies if he was either underwater for 10 years, buried dead or lived in the woods till his 20s. And JGTH actually creates more plot holes if you think about it. Since when could Jason ever bodyhop before? Why does his heart make people want to eat it? How does it give people the strength of Jason regardless of body shape? Since did Jason ever have a sister if Pamela said in the original he was her only child? And more importantly... Add that to the director claiming bits of Friday the 13th Part 3 through part 8 isn't canon. You don't just arbitrarily go into a series and say "that's not canon, that's not canon, but my movie ideas are all canon."

I think pt 2 kinda ruined pt 1 for many ppl. If Zombie n co never made a sequel (or woulda delivered something closer 2 the 2nd half of 1000 Corpses or Devil’s Rejects), I think pt 1’s wouldn’t have lost so much public favor I got a feeling if he waited till at least after Lords of Salem, H2 woulda been something that coulda kept going

I'd been fine with him trick r treating and he's fine having good time then all of a sudden drops his candy goes home and we know rest lol . be cool to keep it mysterious where he could have gotten possessed by a demon or something evil or just snapped lol ! That'd be cool if they did one where Michael in hospital and people are like whars wrong with him ? And the whole movie is different people saying what had happened what he did and what they think happened and we can explore the possissinities like whether he was possessed its a mental thing snapped born like this cursed what have you lol ? Could even throw in Easter eggs like when saying he was possessed could say lk!e that girl in Georgetown lol ! Or could mention dream demons could have been visiting him at night giving him nightmares and he let them in like that Freddy dude lol ?

- 1:13 Um, what? Who the heck considers the _Friday the 13th_ remake a "success"? 🤨 - 1:26 The _Hitcher_ remake wasn't "less successful", Sean Bean made the hitcher extremely intimidating. Sure, it was a very different tone from Rutger Hauer's version (and I was definitely disappointed at the lack of finger-foods), but it worked well. In fact, it was very reminiscent of _Joy Ride._ - 2:07 Yup, the _TCM_ remake was one of the most successful remakes in film-history (especially of a horror movie). I wouldn't go so far as to say it was better than the perfect original, but it was better than most original horror movies, let alone sequels. - 2:24 The JoBlo channels are _extremely_ annoying. Stop doing this mid-video call-to-action, it's unbelievably distracting and feels like the video is over. 🤦 There's a reason nobody else does it this way. 😒 (Also, the ringing noise at the end is WAY TOO loud and shrill and lasts too long.)

- The Friday the 13th remake was actually the second highest grossing movie of the entire F13 series. So it's safe to say it was a success. - Well, that's kinda hypocritical coming you if you think the successful F13 remake wasn't a success. - Yeah, the remake was a success and pretty good. - 100% agree on that one for sure.

I like those remakes, so maybe this one would've been good..... i HATE those Rob Zombie Halloween movies.... UNWATCHABLE!!!!.... and Halloween Kills was not good!!!.... hope the next one is better.
