as a person of colour, i've come to realize that some of the friendships i've had with white women were like this as well. they often do think they're better than you and it's sad. i'm really glad you got out of that - it seemed like you were putting in more effort than you were getting and although you didn't expect much from her, i think reciprocity and respect are an essential part to a stable and healthy relationship so I can see how all of that was draining. glad to see you doing better lisa

Friendship breakups are real. I'm currently 31, I had my best friend since we were literary babies, we had our ups and downs but at the end of the day we made up, talked things, went back to normal, etc, until two years ago we had a fight and we haven't spoken ever since. I've gone through a really rough time and I wanted to text her, talked to her, and the fact that I couldn't, that I didn't have her took a while to get used to. It's like you have to learn how to live without that person after so many years, and it's hard, sometimes even harder than a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship.

I’m a Leo too & my ex best friend was a Virgo.. I see the correlation that as Leo’s, we always wanna see the good in people so we’re very forgiving but once that line is crossed, there’s no way it can be undone. Last month made a year since I “broke up” with my best friend & though it’s still hard to accept, my life is better than ever. I was definitely in my season of letting go to do what was best for ME. For anyone going through this, listen to your spirit. The healing won’t happen overnight, but you won’t regret it!

Oof, I hear it! Even though I think we could do without situations like his happening to us, growing from them is good, for what is worth. I ended a 26yr friendship almost 2yrs ago now. I can definitely relate to this topic. She was my best friend. When I cut it off, the way she responded or lack thereof, solidified what I was feeling. I mean, she didn’t even try to stop me. Not a word! To me, it’s what she wanted but acted like it was completely random and poor her. I think not! We had problems for decades lol. She was treating me so bad near the end, I felt sick to my stomach. Personally, if ANY of my close friends, including HER, tried to end our friendship and I had no idea why, I would do everything I could to salvage the relationship, find out what I did to make them choose that. I love my friends dearly, and they ain’t getting rid of me that easy 😂. With that said, I would respect anyones decision to end a relationship with me. I’m just saying that I have deep lasting relationships and would be in disbelief if they said goodbye to me and I thought everything was good between us. It wouldn’t be normal for us, if that makes sense. She told my other bestie that she had “no idea why, but misses our connection” 🙄, this really annoyed me. So fake! I miss her, and I still care for her, but I think I made the right decision. I actually found a bunch of old photos of us the other day and it made me a little sad. All I can do is know the truth of what happened between us and value how much better I feel now that it’s over. Thanks for sharing in this space. 🙏🏽✌🏽🤍

listening to this was so validating .. dealing with close relationships with white people can be .. exhausting. You think they're fine and then you get close to them and it's often shocking how little empathy they have for the plight of others / how detached they are from reality (like with the anti vax stuff and feeling oppressed but also not giving a shit about blackface / caring to understand racism.. like, hello ??? ). It's actually crazy. But forming close connections with anyone regardless of race makes it hard to figure out how to get "out" of those relationships when they do go south or if they're even worth holding on to.. bc like .. at what cost to us ? Anyway - glad you did this episode & protected your peace. I've learned people don't have to be "bad" people for you to want to not be around them, they can just be people and you can separate for whatever reason and those two things can exist. It's so much lighter to separate for differences than to make someone out to be a shit person through and through simply because you didn't vibe - i've been there. It takes a lot of growth to recognize we're all shitty in various ways and sometimes you just don't want to deal with one persons particular brand of shitty and that's ok, lmao. They'll find their people and you'll find yours. The stuff you went through with her sounds so trifling, so i'm glad you protected your peace and ended it.
