For anyone wondering what the chords become when you move them two frets up from the root: 1. Cmaj -> Dmaj add9add11 2. Amaj -> Bmaj add11 / A 3. Gmaj -> A7 add11 4. Dmaj -> Emaj / D 5. Emaj -> F# 7 add11 / E All of these are lydian chord sequences (major 1 to major 2) and the dreamy sounds are added by the added 9th or 11th from the open strings. Moving from a major 1 to major 2 emphasizes the #4 in the scale which is the major third of the 2 chord.

Thanks for the explanation. The video sort of implied that you're playing the same chord when moving up two frets when that is not really the case.

9th or 11th what, exactly, are you adding?
@InsertNameHere500
@InsertNameHere500 3 года назад
@@DARKSIDEART2022 the 2nd and 4th scale degree but its octave so the 9th/11th. Example for the Dmaj the 9 and 11 added are E and G from the open strings, just one octave higher

I've been doing the D chord slide for years. You can slide the D chord on up the neck and in some places it sounds great so make a note of those places. The D shape also sounds great in DADGAD tuning or open D minor.

Great video! I had been experimenting just recently in fact with this type of thing. Mainly actually with the two chords mentioned here. I took it down the neck 3 times. Granted, D got more difficult the closer the frets got together, but made the A more easy. For some reason it never occurred to me to try this with the C chord. I bet it gets easier to make the C chord shape the further down the neck you go. Thanks for this video! I've been playing a while, but still have trouble with chords. This was a nice reminder to give this a try with other chords besides just the two I was using.
