Just to hear he was gonna head to Chicago after that lost to the Pistons in 04....As a Bulls Fan, I'm shocked to just hear this conversation here in 2020!!! He would od have worn 24 as well since Mj wore 23!! 😥
I love that they made up before Kobe passed. Thanks to the great Bill Russell, who we also lost for grabbing both of them and speaking common sense into them. They were so great together I'm glad they forgave each other
Shaq said after Kobe passed that the last time he talked to him in person was when he dropped 60. When was this interview recorded? This seems to be more recent
Would have been awesome if he had been at chicago,,,and also to hear dwayne sayin he and lebron almost went to chicago as well,,,sigh Bulls would have been the team of the DECADE😢
As a bulls fan and a Kobe fan man would’ve loved this but I remember back then he also said if they have to trade everyone to get him then it would’ve been a waste
If the Lakers had beaten the Pistons, I wonder if the Lakers, Kobe and Shaq would have made it work for a few more runs knowing how much they could add to their legacies if they won 4 or more titles in a row. Or, I wonder if winning that one more time in LA would have precipitated Kobe going to Chicago.
Wasn’t the rumor that Kobe was looking to sign with the Clippers? With that said, Shaq getting traded to the Heat was the best thing to happen to Kobe’s career.
shaq got the 5 year bloated 128 million dollar deal and a title without kobe which is what he was looking for so it worked out for him too...he got paid which he wouldn't have been in la and he got away from west magic kareem wilt kobe la and phil jackson's overcasting shadows ...
Wingman1977 jerry west cleared that out on the interview of kobe’s passing. He wanted to sign for the clipper but jerry talk him out of it and just considered chicago. I assumed that’s what happen
That makes them both great. They both end their careers winning rings with and without each other. That seperates them from jordan-pippen and magic-kareem.
1:26 Loved this part till the end of the interview. I hated that whole Kobe and Shaq 3 peat but I respect Kobe’s competitiveness. He’s definitely top 5 greatest (Jordan will always be the greatest of all time)
@Curly Que I understand your pick of best basketball player ever. There’s no clear criteria for this to be either true or false, so I won’t argue. That and I did some research on Wilt, this guy competed in track and field in college. He did throwing, sprinting, and the triple jump. He changed the game of basketball because he was too strong and athletic. He could bench over 500 lbs. I heard Shaq could only bench about 400? Somewhere around there. Ben Wallace benched about 450 (for a 6’8 guy that’s impressive). Shaq lacked the work ethic. The knock I have on Wilt is the amount of championships and his size compared to that of other players. There were one or two others that were around his height but not his size. There were about 9 teams back then too.
"The business of basketball". Haters say Kobe ran Shaq out of town but Shaq wanted the big money but he was aging while Kobe was reaching his peak. And Kobe wasn't even looking to go to a superteam to chase titles, he just wanted to show what he can do without Shaq. Understably so, because even after Kobe lead the Lakers to two championships, haters will still use that against him that he had Shaq for 3 out of 5 championships.
@@mymagicisntgivingup5908 idk about all that all assumptions maybe or maybe not depends how the draft picks where traded that made the bulls competitive in the early 2010’s
They definitely did it on purpose. Makes the conversation seem more intense and serious. Like when the villain gets real close to the hero when monologuing
Im glad he didn't go to the Bulls. Not because it wouldn't be great in im a die hard Lakers fan, but because Jordan already the Goat of Chicago and would have never received the same praise. But could you imagine The bulls having #23 and #24 in the rafters. And could you imagine playing with the All time bulls team with Kobe in Jordan on the same team! 🔥 📛 👨🚒
Matthew 12:36 “But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.” Proverbs 18:21 “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”
But remember, that working relationship between Shaq and Kobe was pretty much over by this time. Separation was going to happen if he stayed or if he left. Because he was a FA in 2004, using that "Kobe won those rings because of Shaq" just gave him more incentive to seek another team.
Kobe played like a bum that Finals. Shot 38% from the field, while Shaq was shooting 63%.....should have passed to the big man more. And Kobe took a lot more shots that series as well.........Shaq was the better player, so they should have kept him, then tried to talk Kobe into staying and playing more like a teammate.
Renzo C you noticed how they were making references from player duos from their era's. The late 80s, early 90s and late 90s/early 2000 aka their era. Lebron Kyrie and Allen weren't even a thing till the whole Miami thing in 2010
