Shaq is actually correct for 2 reasons.... 1 you burn more fuel driving the same speed below half. 2. You save more $ in your bank longer if you spend 80 on monday you will have less money in your acct than 20 each 2 days then its more than a week that you spent another 80. Having said that, the a/c running off the serpentine belt puts more of a load on the engine to turn the a/c compressor and in turn uses more fuel. But the a/c doesn't "use" fuel to run and it doesn't "run off" the alternator power either.
