I've been playing longer than these guys have been alive... and I wouldn't have a chance unless they were driving with a rubber chicken and putting with a spork.
@@davidkeese273 you know... yeah... I caught that "wheel of not ideal" video... doing surgical work with a skillet. (then again, isn't that technically a "cavity back"?)
A better video would be a scratch golfer with $30 clubs and a 20+ handicapper with the $3,000 clubs and see the true difference because skill plays a huge factor
When I was a kid the old man bought me a 2 iron 8 iron and putter from a second hand store that was it 12 yr old played my 1st hole ...loved it....50 yr old now you guys got me back into golf last year after 20 years off playing off 1.9 now (2).... love you guys thanks for the motivation xx
I always love how Grant is a golf historian. He would fit right in talking with Tiger and Justin. They know all of that history including a lot of the lingo that was used in the prior generations.
@@MrMikeT89 yup. It definitely is where he gets it from. But even then, he's only in his 20s. I'm in my late 30s and I started golfing at 6 and I didn't even hear "hitting it on the screws" until much later when I watched old events. I just imagine Grant watched a lot of old tournaments in combination with his dad passing some lingo down.
If you put Grant in that app that shows you what someone looks like when they are older, I bet Grant will look like a US senator or a supreme court justice that started as a historian😂😂😂
@@Real28 if you’ve been playing the game since you were 6 and are in your 30’s and hadn’t heard the most basic golf saying possibly of all time “hit that one on the screws”, you clearly grew up on the North Pole hitting baby penguins as balls with sticks into holes in the ice. 🤦♂️🤷♂️😂😂
That’s right, Garrett, the game is growing and I hope you know that you and the boys are significant to that growth. Your content is allowing players of all ages to view the game in a much different light. Keep up the entertaining videos and especially keep having fun.
Hey bro, the word is YOUR instead of YOU'RE which is the contraction of YOU ARE. But your point is totally on the money. Garrett had a vision and he aced it growing the game...he and the boys have made the game of golf COOL!!
@@kevinsnyder7479 it’s some shit lol I used to make fun of golf all the time now I’m legit obsessed, got my first set of clubs for $25 off Facebook and my go to shot is a wide right shanker but fuck if it ain’t fun
Been a 5 year lurker on this channel and watching Garret grow his channel and the creation of Good Good has been nothing short of incredible. I have to say, these more "Vlog" style videos of more BTS style stuff has been another notch up in the quality of the videos and absolutely have been loving the content for the past few months. Keep up the incredible work you guys!
Shows that you don't have to spend $3k to play. Per the junior club challenge result I'll bet either Garret or Grant could be competitive with off the shelf $200 set if you look around
The best part was the final hole, where Grant takes the clubs, figures out how to adjust his stance and ball placement, stripes two long shots, then goes up and down for the birdie. Garrett was dying to see him tank, and Grant’s comments along the way were great. Grant is doing a better job trading jibes with Garrett (I love them both as golfers and RU-vidrs), and it makes their one on one videos even better!
@@wesleystewart5606 Garrett literally said the whole round, he wasn’t blaming the clubs and he was playing poorly. Don’t have to act like Garrett is an asshole
hands down, one of my favorite challenges. Would love to see the same challenge, but alternate clubs on each hole (hole 1 - garrett uses s@#% clubs, hole 2 - grant uses s@#$ clubs, etc..). you both are amazing golfers...but it's fun to see you have to get scrappy and creative like garrett on hole 1....FUN STUFF!
You guys just got to the course and I can already tell this is going to be a great video! I've had a thought, a wonderful challenge would be for Garrett and Grant to each find a 30 handicap golfer and work with them behind the scenes for 1 year and see who can produce the most Improvement. I know that hinges on the person learning but it would be fun to watch. I love all the great content please keep it up peace guys
LOVE the videos! I think my favorite thing about them is that I feel like I’m there.. it’s like hanging out on the course when I don’t have the time to go myself. Almost VR feeling lol. Keep it up!
@@shmirginhymer1867 tiger woods 7 iron is one of the weakest on tour at 35*. Nobody cares what the loft was when dinosaurs roamed the earth. How Garrett said it is the correct phrasing
@@Nick-hh5ev "Correct" in what sense? The fact that when golf clubs were literally invented, they put a certain # to a certain degree of loft. Now they're changing that number to give you "more distance". We can argue all day about this but youre wrong. Simple as that. Today's 4 iron was the original 2 iron. 🤷 Get over it.
$6.44 it’s a Good Good Deal🔥 I really love how you guys make golf more than just a game, you make it fun, you make it exciting and you are always exploring the limits of old fashion style and equipment to modern times style and tech, you guys connect everything in golf so well ‘the good, the bad and the ugly’ great job and awesome content always🔥
Good stuff. I started playing about a year ago, we were going out for a work outing, and I'd never played, nor had clubs. I went to the thrift store and built a bag for $20 something. Turns out I love golf and have since upgraded.
Looks like my first set of clubs ! They were gifted to me from a friends grandpa ! Lol None of the zippers worked on the old leather bag and any time we hit a bump in the cart , it would toss out my balls , ball markers and tees everywhere . 😂😂
I just started playing this summer. I’m fully addicted. I have a CHEAP set of Spalding clubs that I picked up at a garage sale for 50 bucks. 😂 I’m living this challenge. Garrett (not surprisingly) plays exceptionally better with even worse clubs than me 😂😂😂 somehow… this gives me hope. I love the part where Garret says that when you play a round like this, you take the little wins. Literally verbatim what I tell my buddies when playing with them. Thankfully, they’re extremely supportive and are fine with what “they are getting into” when playing me. Definitely a lot of, “go ahead and play through.” Happenings when I’m involved. Sincerely love all the content from you guys. It’s an amazing inspiration, and really fun to watch. I can’t wait to get to the point where I’m seriously counting strokes rather than just focusing on technique and just being able to strike the ball consistently. Even knowing where I’m at, I’m loving every round played. 🙌🏻
Bots are so cool. I’m so glad I texted! Don’t worry, I made sure to include all of my personal info… social, banking info… can’t wait to see what amazing things come from this WELL deserved opportunity! 😂🤯
technology makes so much difference. i was playing with some titleist DCI's from 1997 until beginning of last year playing off 21. Bought some new callaway apex DCB's and now im off 13 and playing so much more consistent. Love the content guys as always.
My buddy who just started golfing got a set of clubs for free and wanted to show me them to see if they were nice. Dude got a full set of 2019 callaway apexes and a set of wedges worth $300 absolutely insane
Grew up playing this course with my best friend. Definitely a tricky course, but always fun to play. Love this match and hope to see more like it in the future!
The Tour Model II irons were my first set of golf clubs back in 1990. They were Ping Eye 2 clones. Had a full set including the 1-iron. They were actually pretty good irons for the time. Irons today are stronger lofted than 30-40 years ago. Today's 7-iron has the same loft as a 5- or 6-iron from back then, but has better weighting to launch the ball higher. Golf balls spun much more back then - but they had to in order to get the ball up in the air with the smaller heads on woods. You guys should try to get your hands on some balata balls or Titleist Tour Professional balls from the 1990's (before the Pro V1 came out around 2000). They spun like crazy. Great video!
Nice to see younger guys making golf content without having to just completely disrespect a golf course and the people around them in order to get views, yet still be entertaining, I like it
Love the episodes with club challenges. Recently flew out to Denver and had time to spare so played a round w/ a beat up rental Walmart set. It was a challenge but ended the day with even par. The locals I golfed with didnt appreciate me. Lol.
I think doing a $800 vs $3000 is a much better comparison, as it is a much more realistic price comparison for the majority of golfers. Nonetheless great video as always!
I’d love to see this type of comparison with a regular starter set, like a Top Flite set from Dick’s. $3,000 set vs $300 (that people actually start with and use).
I mean he played with half a set. Give him a putter, a wedge or two and a driver/wood from this decade, hed have had a chance. Should have done this with one of those Costco sets of 10 clubs for $150.
I was thinking the same- feel like this would be super interesting with a set of modern yet still very basic starter clubs v the 3k set. I think it would prob show a lot of golfers that their clubs aren’t the problem lol
Successful people don't become that way overnight. What most people see at a glance-wealth, a great career, purpose-is the result of hard work and hustle over time.
I'm glad to see Mr. Dylan Hill mentioned here, my spouse recommended him to Me after investing $4000 and he has really helped us financially in times of COVID-19 lockdown here in Australia🇺🇲
Love all the vids guys. Congrats on all the success. Loved this video but my thoughts on how to make it more competitive is that Garrett should have played up a couple tee boxes while Grant played back at the normal tee's. That way the match could have been more competitive due to the fact Garrett's woods just can't go that far, even with how far he hits the ball. That drive into the bunker on the par 5 where it was hot with no wind(don't know what number)is a perfect example. He hit that so well and it just didn't have enough on it. Loving the content either way. Keep it up.
Not bad for those 70 yr old clubs, it shows how even though club technology has gotten better in the past half century. These videos truly show its the golfer and not the club technology
played many wooden drivers when i was young. it's what we had. if you take a good wood driver and hit a balata ball with it,you will never beat the feeling of that impact. it won't go anywhere, but it looks beautiful. the ball will start out low and then rise. very nice feeling. and some of those clubs were beautiful. i won a cherry head one in a tourney, and it was so beautiful i wouldnt hit it for a long time
Grant was killin it and smashin that hybrid 👌 and I think if Garrett had at least a full set of clubs, and or sand wedge and a putter the game would have gone down a little differently, not having a full set of clubs and especially no putter would have mentally messed my whole game up too lol 😂
Love this one! You should try this same challenge, but with a full set of thrift store clubs. Don't worry about price, just get all 14 clubs so you don't have any gaps in the bag.
Love the content. Keep it up. Given the constant bombardment that golfers need custom fit, newest products, I would love to see a practical comparison of the difference between the 3K custom fit set) vs an off the shelf 8-15 year old set of equivalent clubs.
I've only watched half of this, and I'm only 1 person. I think I like these more because I feel like you guys aren't faking the reactions and they are real. When you are in a big group I don't like it as much because you guys are so good alone not only as golfers but as a duo personality wise. NOthing against the other guys I'm just trying to give my real feedback. Just started watching a few weeks ago and loving the stuff. Wish you fellas the best.
That was so enjoyable I watched every moment. I own the same set of Irons and clubs I bought as a 20 yr old because at that time they weren't cheap A mid Seventies " Jack Nicklaus "Golden Bears" and often I get super compliments on how beautiful my clubs look as if they came out of the factory as I wipe them with wood oil after using them. HOWEVER ,I'm 70 now and I can't get my ball to soar with my iron so now in March I'm going to replace them one by one at $200 each, starting with 3-7-9.. I replaced my wedge and putter several times already and am a great putter.
Back in the day, we didn’t have wedges and used the 9 or 7 irons for all of the shots around the green regardless of distance. I also remember real wood #1 & #3 woods as that is what we called them. A whole set included #1 & #3 woods, 3 5 7 & 9 irons, and a putter. Very different than today.
You have to remember that people in the past learned on the tech they had. I remember you guys did a video with a Taylormade Bubble Shaft club that you all thought was ridic. They came out when I was just getting into golf as a teen, and people were playing wicked golf with them. Same as Nicklaus winning the Masters in '86 with the same driver he basically always played with from the first swing he ever took.
Great video as always! Garrett should use a top flite or baggage set against Grant. Better test of cheap vs premium rather than really old mismatched clubs.
Grant's smooth swing is much more suited to the whippy shafts. Garret loads the shaft very early in his down swing, clearly causing unpredictable shaft unloading and the big hooks. Mind you, if he spend some time on the range he'd quickly figure it out. I was so hoping he'd hit the 2i a mile about 6' off of the ground. I've got 1997 Mizuno T-Zoid pros. I just put the 2i (18°) back in the bag. Very nice for ~230 yds especially with a nice little fade. Sounds like a gunshot.
Loved this video. I would like to see the same thing but use a cheap set from Costco or something so its a modern almost full set just very inexpensive. Great content as always! And I liked how you both spoke to the camera a bit more on this one.
