I remember running a sign of the Atronach Breton Mage, which is a hilarious combination especially if you manage to find drain magicka and spell absorption items, enemy mages become VERY squishy when every attack they make is just more fuel for your violence.

I picked battlemage in Morrowind but I just ended up using my dai-katana most of the time. Combined with alteration and restoration, I simply outlast my foes in a contest of endurance.

You could blow up half a town in Daggerfall with magic. It was completely broken. You could also make a weapon swing throw magic and you get essentially the same results.

Guess I'm the only one who don't like playing stealth archer in Skyrim. That said I never managed to level a proper hybrid build because of how the game is made. But my Morrowind Battlemage is fire, who needs Fast Travel when one can just Jump you way accross Vvardenfell? And my Daggerfall Battlemage? Absorbing your one fireball FTW.

Dude I remember being a battlemage literally every time I’ve made a character for oblivion that wasn’t a stealth archer guy, so like twice, and the imperial armor, mages guild hood, and battle axe was truly an epic fulfillment of a fantasy I didn’t even know I had. As many problems as I have with oblivion, it’s sense of style is not one of them, most of the time. Some of the time. Ok just the imperial and steel armor were cool looking and everything else was awful looking, there I said it. It’s the truth and you know it!

Stealth Archer in Skyrim is as equal as camping in Battlefield

Morrowind short blade build was the OP. The exp works off of hits not damage. So wailing with an iron dagger can get you lvl 100 in an hour. Tanto's or daggers hit so fast every enemy is stun locked.

In Skyrim you're basically a DnD draconic blooline sorcerer. In the other games you're an actual wizard

Huh, pretty sure I always specced some sort of magic in Skyrim thanks to the two hand equip system, Oblivion was the game that I couldn't play without ending up an expert marksman with stealth

I am somewhat running a battle mage in skyrim currently. On handed sword with high destruction and restoration magic. Not being able to block is annoying but buffing my own damage with flames and restoring my stamina with healing is surprisingly effective

I love how stealth archery goes from sucking ass in Oblivion to being the most overpowered cheat code build in Skyrim. The real sleeper skill in Oblivion is alchemy. It's a pain in the ass to level up and get high level apparatus for, but the poisons you can make end up as bottled nukes, especially with SI ingredients.

Illusion Assassin, so underrated. Calm your enemies just to slice their necks 2 seconds later.

Why does no one talk about the Stealth Mage? Level up Illusion until you get the perk that makes all spells cast silently, easy to do just by spamming Muffle. Enchant your gear with Stealth enchantments. Level up destruction however you like and youll be able hide in the corner hucking lightning bolts and fireballs at any enemy while staying hidden.

Why are so few permitted access to so great a wit? I share and share, but few else seem to know this joy. Thanks for your work.

my first full playthrough of morrowind, i played a fistmage. basically pure mage but with hand to hand. i might as well have been playing as goku the way i was flying around, firing murder blasts from the sky, and punching gods in the balls. i was pretty much unstoppable lmao

Battlemage in Morrowind is OP as hell once you reach the higher levels. A full set of enchanted daedric armor character weilding a powerful enchanted weapon while also casting overpowered spells. Nothing beats that. All my best characters in morrowind have all been battlemages.

you forgot the part in morrowind when your spell just doesn't work

I started playing Skyrim a few months ago and decided I was going to play a warrior build. I had never played any Elder scrolls games before, and I had no idea that stealth archer was considered an OP build. And yet somehow my warrior build automatically became a stealth archer build. Honestly, I don't know how you would even play the game without ranged attacks. And while my character is now a combination archer mage, I still use stealth archer whenever I actually need to kill strong enemies.

What's a battlemage?

Skyrim Battlemage is pretty strong

One time I made a spell in Morrowind. I wipe out Mundus, Oblivion etc and beyond. And that's why spell creations were nerf by the time of Skyrim. Fun times.

Best school in skyrim is illusion and best spell is bound bow.

Meanwhile my modded Skyrim playthrough: Light armor + destruction + enchanting = wired, fast moving tick able to drain life force from their victim in seconds with buffed damage output via enchantments and movement speed bonuses in light armor tree. Alteration + conjuration + alchemy = unkillable tank in robes with a near endless supply of minions from the planes of Oblivion. alteration providing hard cap armor bonuses, massive element resistance, and cheaper costs on spells. conjuration providing all kinds of summonable minions. Alchemy providing further defense against magic, constant healing from potions, and elixirs making alteration and conjuration spells last far longer

One thing I never understood in Skyrim was how you get a stealth damage multiplier from an arrow but not from a spell🥴

Be Daggerfall mage. You have full natural resist to paralysis, your armor gives you full damage immunity to fire, cold, poison, disease and also physical because you can easily wear heavy daedric armor as a mage. With one cast you annihilate everything in 5 meter radius because your spell "Mega Nuke" scales with your lv, effectively doubling the damage for each. And it doesn't matter it costs your whole magika bar to use - you have full magic absorption and regain magika from your own explosion. Your every attribute is at 100 as you fortify them, so you're better than any warrior. Your hp is over 500 because of a magic shield with no time limit. You can fly. You can instantly teleport. You can be invisible in any situation. You can open any lock in a second. Every human being loves you because of enchantment reputation boosts and you have best prices at shops. Every non-human being also loves you because you can comprehend any language or charm them. Your gear repair itself and you never need to pay for it. And if you die, your favorite god will gladly revive you on the spot. Skyrim mage can't even imagine the friction of power their ancestors held.

My Skyrim is using the SkyRe mod, along with some combat changes to add perfect blocks. My favourite mage build has 0 armour and blocks attacks with a torch, but as long as he remains unarmoured the effects of magic armour is multiplied (Easily reaching the cap) - Torches can also block melee attacks the same way as a shield Tankiest character I ever made, and it's a dress-wearing milkdrinker

It may be difficult at first but a mage is worth it after level 20 & it just gets crazier

morrowind: cope that it's comparable to just enchanting spells onto your gear oblivion: cover half the load area in lingering field of freezing burning lightning while absorbing the life mana and stamina of everything it touches while summoning every different daedra while buffing your defensive stats to max integer whi- *crash to desktop* skyrim: use construction kit to make spell, break your load order

Why is everyone ending up a stealth archer? I too carry a bow and arrows just in case i want to take a long shot at something but usually i just run into battle with a sword and shield. I just love to go in blocking with the shield and then caving their face in with a shield bash and then a sword in the neck My class is "heavy armor shield knight with sword that occasionally uses bows and magic, also likes to pickpocket and steal from rich houses"

Meanwhile, the average guy with a"true real gigachad warrior, magic is for cowards" build in skyrim: -only plays as insanely strong races -abuses game mechanics to its advantage -full enchanted armor and weapons -carries enough potions and poisons to be considered a war criminal -doesn't go anywhere without every single Daedric weapon on its person -dlc crossbow with explosive bolts -archer companions with the most powerful enchanted bow -his entire strategy relies on spamming dragon shouts -immediately summons Duhneviir or Oodavhing at the start of every battle -is a werewolf/vampire with every ability unlocked

It's funny how Bethesda created a system that allowed for a stealth archer class and is to this day literally the most legit, fluid and satisfying representation of that arch type in any game ever made even when compared to games that genuinely build their whole gimmick around stealth and yet gamers being gamers rip the absolute shit out of it and ridicule it to the abyss. If I was Todd Howard I too probably would have wasted more than a decade yanking my fan base around before even remotely starting TES6.
