Welcome to my climb to 1800 Elo! I'll be posting a game, win, lose, or draw, every day until I achieve my goal. It would mean a lot to me if you joined me on this journey :)

Another content creator told me that it is not good to play H3 early on and then Castle King Side. It was even worse in this case because you Castled into their attack. Castling Queen Side seemed safer this time around.

this really doesn’t have much to do with the outcome, h3 is common in far too many positions to make such a generalization.

@@austinreheiser414 H3 is a weakening move unless you don't Castle or Castle Queen Side.

That's because he's hardly played any rapid games. He plays mostly 960.

You're getting better all the time, bad games are just part of it. Your opponent did give you another chance though, you just skipped through the analysis too quickly to notice it. I don't know the move number but at 20.40 in the video when you're threatening the fork on his knights and he attacks your rook ... just take the knight! He takes back with the rook but then you still have the fork. You get two knights for a rook. You're still down the exchange but that's better than being down a piece. Trade off a rook and hope your bishop and pawns can hold him off. Keep doing the tactics, you'll see them in your games more and more as you progress!

Actually that didn't work because his rook can take the e pawn and your rook is no longer defended by the f pawn, but it's a common tactic that often does work.. It's always worth looking before you play a retreating move.

@@MarcusChapman-px6jq Oh I saw that tactic as well and didn't notice that the rook is hanging at the end :D good catch
