Honestly one of the best ways to practice is to find something like that 2516 in E major and then 251 in F, then take that through all the keys, and make basically an etude out of it. This really gets it into your fingers and most importantly, your ears.
Thank you so much your videos always open my ears and mind to yet another way to think about music. As a great sax player said and I've never forgotten.... There are many paths to the same destination.
Was just talking to my friend about this the other day, writing out the progression to There Will Never Be Another You, and highlighting all the 2-5's. Basically the point I was making was for me I started with thinking about all the changes in their respective keys (2-5 to C, 2-5 to Ab), and overtime it's just gotten easier to think of everything in one key (7-b5 to 3 to the 6-). Just gotta take these concepts one by one and slowly add them to your vocabulary!
Man, this is some amazing insight right here. Also, freaking beautiful chord voicings! Could you talk about those in a video maybe? How you think about layering and doubling notes inside of a chord to make it thicker, that would be so useful. Keep it up your stuff is awesome (both music and education/content)
Bro, you are a super intelligent man as well as musician. Don't diminish yourself either! Thank you for pointing that '6 ways either way' method too - game changer for me!!!🎉
