In this video, I played the F1 2009 game on a Wii using a Wii steering wheel. I did two races, the Turkish Grand Prix at Istanbul Park and the European Grand Prix at the Valencia street circuit. I also checked out some of the other features in this old F1 game.

Nothing wrong with playing on a controller. I do too and now how it is. It is just so much harder to be smooth and precise than it is on a proper wheel. Great work and congrats for managing to make proper content with a controller!

Some people struggle to wrap their heads around using a steering wheel that's not connected to anything, but I put enough hours into this game that I could probably pick it back up today and get right back to lapping the field in 100% races like I used to. I had to use assists because of the nature of the controls, but when I won all 17 races in a season in a Sauber, I knew I had to switch, so in 2021, I started playing F1 2018.
