We are delighted to present to you our new project “Playing Poetry”, which materialized from our desire to showcase the poets behind the best-loved Israeli songs.
We chose to open this project with the song “Daily Love” by Tirza Atar (1941-1977), in a performance dedicated entirely to women artists, a choice that seems only natural during the week in which the world celebrates International Women’s Day. The melody of the song “Daily Love” was written by Yehudit Ravitz, and singer Daniela Spector performed it with an ensemble of six women musicians from the orchestra.
Daily Love / Tirza Atar
Music: Yehudit Ravitz / Singer: Daniela Spector Arrangement: Amir Lekner
English Translation: Tal Rockman
Quiet lies, small lies
Sleep inside our hearts
Across purple lilies
And an abundance of water plants
They drift silently in the stream
They drift with their eyes closed
Quiet lies, small lies
Sleep inside our hearts.
And a bright light rises and floats over the room
You know who I am, I know who you are
Everything’s alright, everything’s alright
This morning a new day arrived
We’ll go on our way
Today we’ll always tell the truth
Until evening comes
Simple things like love
Hide inside the soul
Across crimson anemones
And an abundance of flowers from the valley
They bloom silently over the greenery
They bloom with eyes shut
Like love, simple things
Hide inside the soul.
And a bright light arises and floats over the room
You know who I am, I know who you are
Everything’s alright, everything’s alright
This morning a new day arrived
We’ll go on our way
Today we’ll always tell the truth
Until evening comes.
