Bottom fishing for cobia isn't glamorous, and involves a lot of bycatch. It's not my favorite way to fish, but I would say 90% of cobia over 60 pounds are caught chumming/bottom fishing. To target a true giant cobia, this is really the only way to go.
This video is a realistic portrayal of how it typically goes when targeting them this way. We were fortunate to come into contact with the target species, but often times it doesn't work out that way.
