Yesterday August 15th was a "the best day" for me as a former tow truck operator and recovery person (novice at best) My wonderful wife took me to visit tour and purchase some very much desired merch from a place I didn't think I would ever get to visit I am a huge fan of Matt's off-road recovery you tube channel have been for quite some time and now I can say I have been there. Thanks for the tour and being who you are. I didn't get to see you or meet you but Matt you are a great man and do great things for many people never change never stop and always be you thank you

Pretty cool. I made it out a couple of years back with my oldest son. Quickly got to meet Kaulin as he was headed out to the Easter Jeep Safari, where Matt was at. I was given a quick tour of the Wrecker frame and got a Lizzy lime green ball cap and Ed stickers. My son was 40 yrs old at the time and was laughing at me saying I was as giddy as a schoolgirl. Still have a smile from this experience so I can sure relate to yours. Take care.

I wish my vacation didn't get cut short. I definitely planned on going, but the kids school registration was Tuesday so we didn't get to leave until Tuesday night instead of Saturday morning. Pikes peak has been on my bucket list for ages so that took priority sadly. I did get to go to maverick and get some victory pies though so that will have to do.

There used to be beaver dams about every quarter-mile on every stream in Utah and everywhere else west of the Rockies. Now we've realized they're important parts of the ecosystem and people are getting them back on the landscape. Slows stream flow speeds, retains water in the watershed, increases summer flow rates, creates habitat for trout and other fishies.

@@kittty2005 Or not build on flood plains.. 😂 Beavers are massively important as OP said.. part of the cause of the lowering of the water table is the lack of beavers holding the water in wetlands. Really massive help vs wildfires too.

We've been reintroducing the Eurasian beaver over here in the UK in the last decade or two, to help mitigate flooding downstream and improve biodiversity. Beaver were wiped out in the British Isles in the 16th century, so it's good to see them back... and thriving. The population is currently sitting at around 1000 across the country.

Beaver Dam, Arizona was named after a beaver dam that a traveler discovered while resting at a nearby creek in 1863. When the first wagon road was established through the area in 1847, they found many beaver dams that were holding back water on the wash. No more beavers, no more water.

The beaver used to be all over the west. A keystone species for the landscape, they got removed before the buffalo even due to the beaver fur hat craze hundreds of years back. And landowners disagreeing with some of the beavers proposed changes. The land holds much less water now since the beaver and buffalo were all but removed. I eat bison instead of plain cow beef whenever I can just to help get more of them back on the land. Encouraging the market is the only viable way now. Their hoof prints help grassland species and they graze different than cows. The talk of beavers and buffalo and their benefits for the land, and how tricky it would be to get them back on the land is too long for a comment. America is still beautiful. For all of our progress, which i fully appreciate, I wish I could see the west 400 years ago.
@dzzope

They sky darkening with passenger pigeons, the plains thundering with the sound of bison on the move.. would be incredible. You missed wolves though. They keep coyote numbers down and keep herds moving, which is a big part in how it all worked together.

There's a town in CA called Mariposa - butterfly in Spanish. It got that name because when the first white man to go through that small valley -John C Fremont, did it, they scarred up all the monarch butterflies wintering there. He said there were so many they blotted out the sun for more than half an hour. Fremont also talked about Pyramid Lake in Nevada. He said it was teeming with 4 foot long Cutthroat trout. Those were the days - before the gold rush.

At 10:28 you want to avoid hooking up to this part of the front frame, I did it on my sprinter the exact same way when I was stuck in the snow, I ended up completely sheering the metal on like 2 inches, I used a recovery rope but still did some damage.. At first it seems to be a good spot to attach from but once you put the vehicle on a lift you can tell it's absolutely not. Easily fixable tho. Lesson learned, I fixed it, reinforced it and added recovery points on it. For context, the back end was sitting on the frame and axle, I was parked on the edge of a boat ramp covered in snow and couldn't tell there was a ditch on the side, it was full of snow, I couldn't back up and going forward was not an option, the lake was frozen but with more snow than I could go through in 2wd. Anyway, great job, I've been watching for years, I've learned a lot about off-road driving thanks to the Morr team. Thanks for the amazing content !

The Saturn Vue hybrid is a pretty rare vehicle these days, especially in such good shape that one is in. The plastic body panels keep the rust away, but they still get very beat up. The last three years of Saturn operating got the Hybrid available, so the youngest possible is a 2010 model. It had nickel hydride battery back that gave it a 20% boost that got the highway mileage close to 45 at times. Nice little SUV. That one seemed to be the 2WD model. Tow points are more than a little rough to find. Nice job.

The irony is, you're incredibly defensive when the person you tried to push around pushed back. I bet you're a completely different person when you step away from the keyboard. You can't be a commando in public, so you do it here. I see your fear and weakness. I'm being gentle right now. I am in person who I am online. When somebody tries to push me around I push back.

Sand gets pretty sugary in hot dry climate. The way you drive through that is simply tread on and not sift that sand. Smooth ribbed balloons get you over that terrain. Aggressive tires just cut through and just suck you down. Silt or powder dirt is a trap in this heat . Avoid flood beds at all costs in the summer.

Other than the rain forest the only other factor to cause (insert name) lol it's a type of eco system where forests become flooded and fish/other organisms turn it into a different ecosystem type, are cause by beavers. America used to be much more flooded with water ways even in the 50s fish would show up in local ditches from all the different water ways there were, thanks to beavers and sure less partially to development. Anyways I love beavers 😂

Been fooling in Florida sand all my life. Found some sand much like you alls in Oregon this summer. Stopped in 2 wheel in some sand to read a sign. Sand like this at home is nothing. Could you guys possibly cut the sides out of a large inner-tube and wrap it around the new tires to provide better traction in the sand? I don't know if it would be possible or if it would stay in place once on there but it might be worth a shot. If it works just have them manufactured for it and call them Matt's Sand Slippers!

@defiant9809 problem with a wench in the sand is it's a slow pull best way to get out of sand is to get pulled up on top and maintain momentum which you can't do with a wench without risking damage to the wench and/ or rigs and people so Kentic rope or recovery straps are most ideal

From what ive learned watching Matt and the crew, the Chevy needs more ground clearance and bigger tires with less "tread". Do some burn outs bud.... For the sprinter van, it's too heavy, low ground clearance, probably has highway tires and all around needs a driver that knows the limits of their skill and the machine theyre operating. IT (not they) just doesn't belong here. For the Saturn, same thing as the sprinter van. DEFINITELY NOT A BEACH BUGGY
