Watching your videos, as well as Emma‘s has become part of my self-care routine lol. As an artist myself I love watching you paint, I learned so much because i usually only paint with acrylic

By far one of the most helpful technical videos yet.

Love the sensation of temperature in this. I feel like I’m chilling in the shade and all I would have to do is step onto that sunny path and I would warm right up. Smart to push the yellow!

The information details are so helpful! ... I frequently paint scenes like this with scrub pines and my shadows have a dull flat look... I'll be watching this video just before I go out to paint so I have your ideas fresh in my mind ... This is the guidance that that I needed ... Thanks so much!

That has such a beachy feel. Love what you did with the shadows

I especially like the complementary shift from purple to warm tones. An elegantly simple composition. Making the shadows interesting is so important. Thanks for the video.

Growing up in the Bay Area, I’ve been to half moon bay hundreds of times with family and friends… but after watching and being inspired by your vids, for the first time a couple days ago I finally went half moon bay all alone… solely to illustrate. It was a freeing experience, and I felt my reliance on others to do things I want completely diminish. *You have definitely also made me want to try paining again*. So thanks for living life, naturally reminding us to live ours.

Great painting as usual. I really liked the choices you made and your discussion on design and composition. I showed my daughter some Andrew Wyeth watercolors and she was blown away by how he turned simple subject matter into exciting paintings mostly through composition and design.

Thanks for addressing shadows! This is an area I tend to get too dark too, like you in your earlier days. Really helpful tips, and I like what you did with the compositional changes as well!

Hi Mike , Marc in BC here , I'v been binge watching your videos this summer and I must say I find them very informative and helpful . My plein air painting has improved 70% and I find it so much more fun to be out painting now . I made a pochade box as per your instructions and it turned out great . Thank you for making these videos and your great positive attitude is infectious , Cheers Marc

Great painting. Much stronger and more interesting than the landscape. You saw something that wasn't there and made it sing. Good choice in reducing cypress to the right. Lovely ground texture in the shadow. You captured the sloping ground and rocks. Very sweet.

Really enjoyed this video. Loved your final outcome. Loved the red glow on the bottoms of the branches on the left side. You're doing a great job Michael. Thank You

A lot of learning packed in this video! I like how you mentioned about not always being able to find the “perfect scene”. Thanks Michael, there’s plenty to absorb from this one! Great painting 👍🏽

I just love the way you take a simple composition and turn it into something magical. You really create the atmosphere and by mixing just a few basic colours too. Wonderful and such a helpful commentary!
