This was very informative, and explained how my father died. I wanted to understand the processes by which my father went from talking one day, to need dual chest tubes, and then a few days later he passed. It make much more sense given his cardiac disease, but I wanted to know the processes involved in his decline. As morbid as it sounds-you helped me find a little peace.

Great video!! I just had pleural effusion on 2-06-23 I had severe Covid which caused me to get a bacterial pneumonia in my left lung and the doctors said that caused the pleural effusion I had no idea how sick I was until I went to the ER and then was admitted to the hospital for 7 days. The doctors had to hit me with heavy antibiotics which put the pneumonia in check and then I had a Thoracentesis which they drained 750ml of fluid then two days later I had 3 chest tubes inserted which drained another 1800ml the doctor also injected blood thinners into my chest tubes to help break up the fluid and that was extremely painful but saved my life. The doctors told me that at the time I came to the ER I was 24 -36 hours away from dying because the fluid was getting ready to leak into my other organs which would’ve caused sepsis. Thank you for this video because I was trying to truly understand what exactly happened to me and this video explained it so I could understand it and the pictures help even more

Is there a substantial risk of sepsis in cases of pulmonary contusion from traumas compared to infiltrative pleural effusions? Is cigarette smoking attributed to most cases of atelectasis? I wonder what strategies can best prevent a traumatic chest tube installation.

Thanks bro,, an extra point to add that you missed on 03:35 One thing you missed the transudation of fluid from the pulmonary capillaries in case of left vetricular heart failure which causes interstial pulmonary edema that transudte into the space.

@bombblast981

What are the diagnostic biomarkers associated with pleural fluid led disorders? Plural fluid results are a key part of the clinical assessment, but all results must be interpreted in the context of the patient in front of you, to allow for accurate diagnosis and management, why?

Can anyone answer a question of mine- Why does inflammation here, not involve neutrophilic infiltration? Neutrophilic infiltration is one of the hallmarks of acute inflammation, and yet effusions have little to no neutrophils. ( Effusions can be caused by inflammation)

10th of March this year i had symptoms of difficult in breathing together with severe sharp pains around my lungs regions. I took chest xray and it showed i had pleural effusion more on my right lung. Doctors gave me antibiotics (AZUMA-Azithromycine) in which i took them for five days i started to feel well... and then I had my heart, kidney and liver examined and the results were just fine. So doctors thought my pleural effusion might have been caused by pneumonia so they gave me Ceftriaxone. 9th of April i took xray it showed very small amount of pleural effusion on my right lung. At this point I was recovering. Then May 1st i started experiencing the same symptoms as of march, chest pains and heaviness, difficult in breathing, pains at my back.. All of it indicating pleural effusion. So 6th of may this year the doctors started me the Anti-TB drugs, in which i am using them to this day more than a month and a week but my condition is still getting worse. Need your help/advice

I have a slight bubbling sensation or it feels like a movement of air within my chest cavity underneath my left nipple more towards my sternum. It's only noticeable at night when I'm adjusting my position in bed or bending over/exerting myself. I do experience what feels like nerve pain or bone pain in that area. I'm a smoker but I don't feel like my lung capacity has changed and I couldn't say whether or not I've been experiencing shortness of breath. Does this sound like a pleural effusion?
@bookmaniac7992
@bookmaniac7992 5 лет назад
Please see a doctor. It's not an effusion, sounds like there's some air from ruptured bullae in the lungs, likely since you're a smoker.
